    For the longest time, I never clicked on any of your videos. I don't know if it was the channel name or what, but I just assumed it was like "douchey" car content that you see a lot of nowadays. I feel bad even saying that, because I absolutely love your channel! My favorite part is just that you show your full diagnosis process, the little wins (like finding dropped bolts) as well as when things don't work out. The other thing I love is that you're not always focused on "out of reach" cars which has become commonplace on the internet today. Just a great channel, and again I apologize for whatever weird assumptions I had made before I even watched a single one of your videos. Keep being great! Love the intro, btw. Cheers from CT

    I am a truck driver and a diesel mechanic. Since today's truck have air suspensions, I have dealt with a lot of air lines. While the video does call them a ferrule, they are also commonly referred to as barrels too. While most of the vinyl airlines I have worked on do not commonly have a split in the barrel, if you look at an American version, the crush ferrule does look like a barrel. The vinyl airlines we work on usually have a small pipe that goes into the airline, so the barrel has something to crush the vinyl line to. The whole fitting itself is called a compression fitting.

    Awesome video as always! Having myself fell for the appeal of how cheap many once very expensive, safe, and luxury laden German vehicles there are, and knowing this is magnified by the very real fear of complex and expensive, if not nearly impossible repair, often regardless of overall condition I have participated myself. Love the gamble paying off....(so far:)
    As far as looks, that X6 has grown on me as well since it came out. Yet by far my favorite BMW SUV is the 2002-2003 X5 4.6is. A form and function factory M vehicle with a N/A V8, the right modifications, cool clean look, and huge for the time staggered 5 spoke wheels and tires....worthy of a spot imo...

    39:35 There are a few articles and videos regarding 5-seater conversions for the E71 X6 so you might want to start with that. I also thought, maybe you can just replace the whole 2nd row seats to that of an X5 which do not have the cubby holes in the center, after all they're basically twins (E70 X5 and E71 X6) so there should be some interchangeability across those two. I could be wrong but worth a try I guess.

Regarding the lack of backup camera, I thought my recently purchased 2007 X5 didn’t have one and lived with just the sensors until I found “camera” buried DEEP in the settings. Funny, my mother in law has a 2012 Honda Accord (as so many others do).. and she had an engine light and a very rough idle with no power driving, her variable valve timing solenoid was clogged or, well reading bad.. she called Honda and they wanted her to bring it in, giver her a donor car, minimum $800 up to $1200 for the repair, PLUS anything else they found on the way, belt, oil change, plugs, you know the deal.. yeah.. I spent a half hour and got the belt off (not easy) pulled the VVT solenoid, cleaned it, tested it with an old tool battery, was like yeah it works, the screen was TOTALLY clogged though.. Car's been fine for like 3 years no problems since. Yay.

    I have a 2013 X6 with the N63. It has 132k and has had the valve stem seals replaced along with a lot of the plastic tubes under the CCP/recall at 75k. Mine has a 5th passenger seat option along with the M sport package but not an a true M. It is quick and out runs a lot of so called sport cars. I would have the dealer scan your key to see what was done as far as repairs and recalls for peace of mind. I still get electrical gremlins now and then but the N63 is a beast and maintenance is key on these. As a side note we saw Nate B the same night, great show.

  • @samuelbier6186
    @samuelbier6186 28 дней назад

    Nice work! In my last comment from the last video, I totally forgot about the VANOS solenoids.. Defiitely a good item to check, with a cam timing fault code on a BMW with VANOS! Obviously a much cheaper and easier fix than having to tear it down! You avoided the BIG ONE, sir. Always keep a spare vanos solenoid around, for sure! 😅
    Definitely do those coil packs, soon, because they will all start to fail. I'd gap the plugs while you're at it, too. Seems like someone maybe changed the plugs and didn't know to gap them, so you may actually have new plugs in there...
    Also, as a preventative, I would replace the chain tensioners. It's a bit of work from inside the engine bay (not very expensive), and you may be able to absorb some chain stretch, over time, with new tensioners, reducing risk of the notorious chain slip failure. They are hydraulic tensioners and defineitly wear-out and fail over time (just like other German car engines with hydraulic tensioners)..
    You asked "did they make an X6 with 5 seats?", yes, it's called an X5 😅.
    But seriously, we love our 2012 X6 50ix. Even at 12 years old, she still gets compliments and is fun to throw into Manual Sport mode, launch it and make some noise, then, cruise up to an event in style. Also, it's pretty comfortable on road trips (I take it to the ski slopes, regularly), and actually doesn't do horrible on highway mileage, it's just premium gas and a 20 gallon tank (as you found out) that makes long trips a bit on the expensive side... All-in-all, I think it's up there on the list of older enthusiast luxury cars to consider for a $10k price tag. Just gotta be willing to do the regular maintenance (they need continuous maintenance) and know how to keep it on the cheap side of the spectrum (you don't need to only buy BMW branded parts, and sometimes a lightly used part from eBay will save the day and get you more than you bargined for)...

    A few things from a master tech who flips euro and japanese cars: 1) hoses are different colors because if you look at the air compressor junction, thry all sit next to each other, the colors are labeled on the compressor so they never get mixed up. 2) you can tell its a coil if you cycle the key and the misfire temporarily stops. 3) bmws are amazing cars to make great profit on. They are actually pretty easy to fix and easy to buy cheap. Cheers
