- Cobrabald is a hidden gem of water holes and rugged bush tracks in the Mount Boss State Forest, west of Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast. We escaped out there for a wintery weekend to test out the Conqueror UEV14 hybrid caravan in the freezing temperatures and on the rough terrains. We even took our pooch, Charlie along for the ride. This episode takes a look at the Wild Bull Campground. It was certainly a weekend of unexpected events, so much so that we have split this episode into two parts...Part 2 out soon!

Winter camping in Australia is a lot different than winter camping here in Central Oregon and Northern Nevada. We often see night time times to -15 C and snow. Regardless winter camping is great if you want to get away from the crowds. We love camping were others are not.
Beautiful spot, just a tip to get cooked through potatoes, prick potato in few spots before wrapping.

Had a issue with bad water taste in an olde camper, put a couple bottles of raspberry cordial in your water tanks. I did one long trip, then drained the tank, refilled, no more bad tasteing water.

I've got a tried & tested solution to STOP the potatoes burning, would, recommend trying it! 😂 Rap your potatoes in 2 sheets of paper towels, wet them under a runing tap so paper towels stick to potato, ( just until there damp), then wrap the each potato in 1 sheet of Alfoil & cook in the coals of the 🔥 & enjoy! 👏 Let me know how you go?

Looks like the water rages through some of those creeks when they flood. The trees are all laying over. But the water is crystal clear. Such a pity it is so cold. But I bet there would be a thousand people there in summer.
Don't you have a permanent list of stuff to pack? Potatoes need to go on around the edge of the fire an hour before anything else. .
The actual video even looks cold. My goodness, who goes out to camp in 2c? And it is probably colder down in that gorge too. Too cold for me. I hope your camper was warm inside. Nothing worse than a cold camper and no hot shower! The scenery was spectacular though.

A tip with the water tanks is add bottle of red cordial to the tank let it mix around for 1/2 hour or more then drain the tank of water mixture and refill and the taste will be gone 👌

Love the video guys. I've been looking at exploring up around that area for a while (we are in Port Macquarie). Definitely been a cold snap. I camped up around Mt Seaview a few weeks ago in the swag. Very cold.

Love your journeys! Tip, par cook whole spuds before leaving home & keep in fridge until needed on the trip. Yep half cooked spuds are awful 😅

Have you used the gas heater yet? Does it function well?
Is there any storage under the internal seats / lounge setup for bulky items or to store slabs, etc?
We love free camping and remote camping hence the interest in something small and on the lighter side.

Yes the gas heater works bloody fantastic, we probably run it for a total of 20hrs that weekend, the van was beautiful and warm.
Yes you can store stuff under the table / bed id say at least 4 cases.
