    Nice! I liked your duck and punch to the solar plexus as well--vastly underrated striking target. More Aikido with sparring, please. 🙏

    It would be interesting if you challenged Rokas to a 1on1 and prove him on a first hand basis that aikido works

      in this kind of sparring weight has too much impact to be really interesting I guess. Remy would win exchange 9 time for 10, no matter of techniques.

      Yea lol its just too epic not to use. I just got blocked off of the main aikido page on FB because of this video. I guess aikido people dont want to explore what so many see is lacking in the art these days.

    I would emphasize on working locks from armtraps/clinches rather than after a punch is thrown. Also break down the different way to jam opponent's arm off their guard so you choose when to move rather than wait for opponent to take initiative. Awesome video still

    • @Martialarts1on1
      @Martialarts1on1  2 года назад +2

      True, there are some ways to get sankyo that works better for the clinch. Still I wanted to train an entrance from punches. Thank you

      @@Martialarts1on1 I see that and I like what you're working on, but you're working in close and "squared up" from the brawler style which has its pros and cons no doubt. I just wanted to give some feedback from my research which is basically keep ma-ai (2 arm length distance) confuse opponent with tai sabaki and get right angle before you do irimi and use uke nagashi/ bong sao type arm jams/handtrap on opponent's guard rather than punches. And experiment how many options you get from each entanglement in "clinch" on opponent's guard and the variables of breaking kuzushi by just stance.
      This is feedback on testing a style focused on more ma-ai as basis and foundation and then tai sabaki and irimi as the "bonus".
      Another thing I believe that aikidokas should focus train on is mai-ai, tai sabaki and shomen ate (atemi for kuzushi not pain) move around like Mohammad Ali and try striking opponent out of balance with a face push or just push, just in and in out without standing in the pocket.
      I hope my research gives some food for thought. I like what you're doing Remi, keep at it.
      Peace

      @@Martialarts1on1 I agree working on countering makes a fighter really effective, but having a solid preemptive game set up where you take the lead and choose the initiative will have the opponent guessing and you get to put the pressure.

    It’s dangerous in training, but go for an arm bar. When they resist it to avoid elbow hyperextension that’s when you can go in for the sankyo variation. It’s uke’s overcompensation to avoid injury (bending their elbow) that makes the sankyo work. Also, as you apply it, make sure and lean into uke and offbalance them. The setting you were in wasn’t conducive to throws (at least for training) but the failure mode for a grapple should be just throwing uke. (i.e. if you can’t restrain them you get rid of them.)

    Great video, Remy. Keep them coming!
    I love the way you use atemi. Could you do an in-depth video (or even series of videos) on the use of atemi in Aikido? I think it's vastly misunderstood and grossly underestimated in Aikido community.

    The finish is less important than the principles of standup that he's exploring. Working against standard jab/cross and feints allows you to sharpen deflections, see where you can close distance, and work your footwork. When some drunk idiot completely telegraphs his punches, it makes pulling your stuff off that much easier. Aikido like anything works if you train or properly.

    Why the heck have you got Seagals meditation music from hard To Kill playing in the background for? Dam, be your own man. Its weird enough seeing half his students copy him by growing their hair, combing it back and putting it into a pony tail. I'm convinced some can't separate him from Seagal the movie actor to real life. How old are you all? And to put so much faith in a style (Seagals) when Seagal has never had a real fight in his life is quite odd. You only have to watch the daft Black belt test randori to show it 99% fails and ends up as a chaotic mess. I'm astonished how Seagal has let himself go. Not a good inspiration to students at all. He looks a disgrace

      @@OneLoneMan Is that the best come back you got boy? I couldn't care less. I don't have much time to devote to such an embarrassing mess of a video. Grow up. Get a life and stop your infatuation with an odd man who persistently lies, turned away all his students, is desperately trying to hang on to fame by buying gifts such as a mini Makiwara for young RUclipsrs and best of all has NEVER had a real fight in his entire life. Didn't you see the post his top students made about why his "style" is flawed for modern day practicality? Intelligent people already knew it. How old are you, Remy? It's people like you that turned Aikido into the hideous joke it has become.
