- *How to choose the perfect boat for your needs*
Buying a boat is an investment; it is quite an important, or rather, very important or unimportant expense depending on both your wallet and the boat you have chosen, which is to be your boat. But let's see how, or rather, the best way to choose the right boat for us.
A first hypothesis, a first solution, could be: I choose a family boat for sailing, to stay on board, to live inside the boat and go on cruises, real cruises. We are currently on a *Swift Trawler 41* by **Beneteau**. I'm not saying it's a houseboat, but it's close: the comforts are really many, the spaces are huge. It's not a sporty, super-fast boat, but precisely if my idea of sailing and enjoying the sea is to do it with the family, in peace and quiet, in maximum relaxation, a type of boat like this Swift Trawler is just right for you.
Of course, if your passion is fishing, then a fishing boat is best for you. Here we have, right behind us, a very famous American boat which is a *Boston Whaler**. It is a great boat for fishing, but every boatyard has a proposal for the sport of fishing. There are the **Antares Fishing**, which are Beneteau boats, specially equipped and structured to develop your passion 100%. But not only them, even **Quicksilver* offers a range in fishing mode, and many other boatyards obviously propose solutions to satisfy fishing enthusiasts.
Or, if your main passion is water sports, many boats offer hybrid solutions so you can take 100% advantage of activities like wakeboarding or water skiing. For example, on this *GT32* we have, with this bow, the possibility of doing wakeboarding in an excellent way because we are above the engines and in tow we can have a person having fun like crazy, as well as having maximum comfort inside the boat.
Another important thing is to choose the right size for you: suitable for the budget you have decided to spend, of course, both on buying and running the boat, and also according to your idea of boating. Because it is useless to have a boat that is too big if your needs are perhaps to use it alone, just as it is useless to have a boat that is too small if your idea is to take a family or two families on it. So be careful, size is really important.
Let's go into detail now, though. One way for many people to get started with boating is to start with boats without a licence, so up to 40 horsepower. Usually these boats are under 6 metres, 5-5.5 metres long. They are very good entry levels, very good beginnings to see if the passion for boating can be a good thing for you, because something good is not necessarily good for everyone.
Another category of boats is the 6 to 10 metre category: there is an enormity of proposals, of solutions, of spending possibilities. I can't give you an example every 30 centimetres, it would become too long a speech. So I take macro sizes: 6-10 metres, 7-10 metres. These are boats that you can still use alone or with the family. Here it depends a lot on the kind of budget you have, the kind of places you want to visit or the kind of use you will make of it. Depending on this length of course the prices will also change. You will no longer have the cost of running a 5-6 metre boat, but the costs will increase proportionally with the length of the boat.
