- After working a night shift and being up for well over 24 hours, Capt Zac takes over and runs the boat for me as we make the 60 mile run to the offshore sea bass grounds here off Southern New Jersey.
This was actually our first time doing this trip. These fish typically are bigger this time of year, as they are the New England fish that are migrating South and East to their wintering grounds.
We did not find the quality of fish we had anticipated but we easily filled our limit. Fun times. Lots of laughs. I'm a lucky man!!!!
Thank you everyone for watching and being a part of this channel.
Chris
You deserve way more subs. Come on people, spread the word guys got a great show. Especially if your from Jersey.
thanks for the kind words Frank!
Ive said the same thing...couldn't agree more!

Now I own a cabin off 5th ave on the Mullica in sweetwater.. Been all over the country n I love this area n never gonna leave.. Subbed u bro..
Hands down one of my favorite fish to catch and eat. I absolutely love seabassing in NJ. Those were some nice fish you guys caught. I know this videos is 2 yrs old but I've been just jonesing for some seabass videos and this one is epic.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I'll probably get out there at some point this fall, but still have tuna on the brain
Merry Christmas - Thank you so much for the lesson. I'm going next week and have learned so much from your video. I am excited. I feel more comfortable with my gear since watching your video. Keep them coming.
Will do Thomas. Thanks so much for watching
Great trip lots of fun and fish. Great way to end the year. Thx for the videos and looking forward to your 2020 episodes.
Thanks so much Brian. More from 2019 still coming.
wow that's my family's party boat the Atlantic Star at 4:52! Just found your channel and have been binging all of your videos, keep up the good work!
Crazy all those little fish last time I went offshore for seabass 3lbs was the average. Still looked like a bunch of fun!!
Yea man we were surprised. Thanks for watching.
That is my kind of fishing I am from New York City I fished out a Freeport Long Island he caught plenty of black sea bass and Blackfish I like your show it reminds me of home
Thanks for sharing! Can’t wait to put the boat in the water.
soon enough brother
its a good feeling skippering your own boat, but now and again its also good to get back on the rods, good vid as usual, many more to come i hope.
Thanks so much Jon. yea man it's sometimes fun just to drop down and fish.
THE BEST EATING FISH THE SEA BASS NEVER HAD ANY OF THE FISH WHAT TASTE LIKE SEA BASS CAUGHT ONLY ONES BACK IN NEW YORK LOVE YOUR VEDIO SIR THANKS MUCH FOR UPLOADING BLESSINGS ❤️🌹❤️
Thank so much for watching.
Video
2.5k you're getting there! Nice video. Btw Chestnut Neck has a ton of memories for me. It's my home town, grew up there fishing. And then as a mate out of Oyster Creek.
Thanks as always for watching Pete! Very cool Pete. Nunzio was so cool. When i was 10 or so I had such a crush on the girls!!!!
Nice job on the goats!! Look like great day on the water!! Bass and triggers about only thing open in NC right now!
Love to smoke the bass whole and make dip for friends and family!
My personal best was 6.8 lbs off ww2 wreck! Got a pretty cert from State!
Nice Vid!!
Thanks as always Lance! That's a stud!
Cool videos. Groovy channel....you know I'm going to subscribe
Thanks so much Zippy !!
Sea bass is a huge fishery up here in RI. While we typically use squid, clams, or bucktails, I have caught them while diamond jigging for cod.
I go over that bridge all the time that’s awesome that your in the same neck of woods I’m in
thanks for watching dude.
Maybe my all time favorite type of fishing
we'll get back on em in May dude!
Nice sea bass!! Love the channel, you inspired me to start my own😤
thanks so much dude. I'll check it out!
Awesome fishing Chris!!!
thanks Robert!
Love your video's I've learned so much
Also I would like to get a custom rod I heard you mention zmans custom rods is there anyway I can get in contact with him
thanks so much for watching and the kind words. He just makes em for us it's not a business......sorry
New sub here offshore sea bassin is my favorite, I was offshore the same day fishing out of Point Pleasant on the Voyager and won the pool with a 5lb sea biscuit on an 8oz spro bucktail tip with gulp!
Thanks for the sub!
Your theme song is John the Fisherman from Primus.
ha!
Chris getting ready to head out of the Crest Monday, I’ll let you know how we do.?Trying Seabass & blackfish, hitting the reef
I am surprised there smaller boats out there. Lucky you can keep 15 PP too.
yea man we saw a little bowrider probably 21 ft or so.
When running to the pile we only use diamond jigs with a teaser or salt big jigs from peace token bait and tackle. If we are headed 60 miles from cape may we target the bigger seabass and that’s exactly what jigging does
Roger that. Thanks for the tip Dan!
Went tuna fishing last year, 6 and a half hr drive to find well over 100 boats. We did manage to land 2 keeper bluefin early though which was nice. But after that it was dead
try some green food coloring mixed in with squid for bigger seabass, too many shorts fellas on that clam
thanks control. We are believers now for sure.
You definitely deserve more publicity
thanks so much! Spread the word
Another great vid! What happened with that Avet?
the screws from the reel seat came loose I believe.
I've had bad experiences on nj fishing boats me and my fishing buddies usually fish cape cod and Montauk.
Been waiting for this for a while!!!
Yea man!!
Whos the goon with pants tucked into socks??
@@slmed87 ha! That's proven to be effective
Zac Wojnar it’s called utilitarian fashion!
You don’t need to answer what are the coordinates for those sea bass grounds
What’s the make of your boat ? And how big ?
Ocean Yachts 43
I would love to go out to do some fishing. Do you charter? I'm in Jersey.
Pick up an Accurate you'll never go back to Avet. Plus having twindrag on their smaller reels is sweet. I've got a 400 Tern, valiant 500 and 800 2 speed. They're not cheap but they're built incredibly well! Check them out sometime. They've designed for the west coast tuna guys. But have become even more popular here in florida. The tackle shop I use is called dogfish and they are the 1# distributor for Accurate!!
thanks tyler. I have never fished one. Maybe I'll check them out. A friend of mine fishes them exclusively.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 no problem. everyone that's fished mine has loved them. Accurate was an aerospace/aviation machine shop that started making fishing reels. So you can imagine their quality is top notch! I'd love to see fishing one in the future. I really enjoy your channel more then any other fishing youtubers. You capture what it is to go out and do what you all do. Not just the glory moments with a bunch if editing and crappy music. Your tuna fishing videos are some of my favorites as well!! When's the time of year for most of your trolling?
@@Tyler-kw9ce OUr best month by far has been June. Typically late May, June, and early July for tuna trolling. Crazy because when I was a kid we wouldn't even start tuna fishing until July
@@reaperfishingnj8623 looking forward to the videos you'll share with us come july!! I'd love to see more of the fish filleting as thats ny favorite part of fishing! Especially seeing a fat tuna cut up. We've caught one yellow fin her in FL. we were 80 miles offshore in the gulf and caught him on a vertical jig it was only 21lbs but tasted incredible.
I run a 40 SS out of Oc Md. what do catch more fish on meat or lures.
Thanks so much for watching Rob. Awesome boat. That was my other choice. For sea bass we mostly catch them on meat by far.
Backing up the previous video with some hardcore fishing and showing love to the turf.
Heck yea Man!
Chris when you were describing the rig, it sounded like you said "16 ounces" but that looked like 6-8? Which was it?
Thanks so much for watching Erik! Yea man 16 oz. The GoPro def not great at size/spatial stuff
Doing anything cool to your boat? Adding anything or just basic maintenance?
Mostly maintenance. The big project will be adding a big flat screen in the salon that links up to the FF/Radar/GPS. Also sending out the props to be tuned. Maybe adding a pot hauler for double anchoring!
I don’t know why people make fishing videos think you want to watching driving in their cars for 2 minutes lol
And the date on video title says 12/21 I was like it’s only June lol
Back to video nice looking boat
that was my favorite , trip to make
yea man so fun
do you use a topshot between the mainline (braid) and rig or just connect the braid straight to the rig
No topshot
What do you do with 75 fish sell them ??
Do you vent the swim bladder to release them?
yes I do and I try and encourage all my buds to do the same
@@reaperfishingnj8623 you should show how you do it in your next sea bass video. Not many people show that part. I’ve never done it myself yet. I’ve been lucky enough to not have to. I try to reel slower so it doesn’t seem to happen.
Nightworks suck! I'm a retired police lieutenant. Working nights used to whoop my ass!
what bait were you using for this seabass? do you use the same bait in the summer as well?
salted clam and squid
Try putting some zman baits on your hooks the biscuits have a hard time tearing em up
I'll check em out!
U guys were fishing not far out at time of year that’s why there is a bunch of boats
nope, it was a slick calm day, cape may rock pile is pretty far dude. you obviously don't know the area they fished {;
Nice catch and video! How many hours until you reach until you get good sized sea bass?
thanks so much for watching.
It varies on what time of year. In the spring we get them about 30 miles out...so 1.5 hours. This trip was mid December so more like 50-60 miles and 2-2.5 hrs.
I love fried seabass but I'm not going 60 miles out for them
it was so fun. i never shy away from burning diesel. and it afforded me the opportunity to get a little shut eye on the way out
Nice
What do u do for work
for now i'm going to keep that private.
What speed do you run your boat when your going that far?
23-26 knots depending on sea condition
We’re you guys anchored ? Or just short drifts
Short drifts.
What’s the name of some of the wrecks you fishing
they were fishing the cape may rock pile, about 2 acres of nothing but boulders a traditional go to spot for big sea bass. before it became real well known, you could go there 10 years ago and catch nothing but 2lb's bsb and up four at time.
Pretty sure I saw a Penn slammer
What wreck or area where you at
rockpiles just inshore of 100 F. I can't get much more specific. They aren't my numbers to share.
Totally understand thanks
Atlantic ocean
😂
What rod was you using this trip
that's my custom tog rod from JPR RODS.
What do ya do for work bro?
For now that will still remain private. It's shift work and it's unfortunately not flexible whatsoever.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 I get it Im an operating engineer same issue
@@reaperfishingnj8623 when ya posting more videos ? Hopefully soon
I hate how they changed the fishing rules. Now you have a four sea bass limit per person and it has to be at least 17in. But at least there is no limit on the porgies.
Is that New York?
@@reaperfishingnj8623 that was when I went last year in Massachusetts. I haven’t been fishing in New York in about two years.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 hopefully it’s not the same rules
Hey would like to do a charter trip with you is that possible
sorry we arent a charter
60 miles for seabass idk man
It's once a season kinda deal. With a horrible striper season and plenty of good tog trips under our belts we wanted to fill the cooler one last time. I never shy away from burning diesel
Old...????? You're young guy....lol
To cold to fish
Tiny ass seabass .
