  • We thought this was going to be a fairly quick and easy project, but it's turning out to be quite a bit more complex and arduous than we could have imagined. This video is in no way a dig on the kit. We just vastly underestimated what was required to fit it, and are trying to share with our viewers from an average guy perspective.
John bought and imported this Team Z pre-bent and pre-notched roll bar kit all the way to England. Even with a good welder and several high end tools at our disposal, I would consider this project at the top of any car guys skillset abilities to install and finish a kit like this properly.
Maybe we are just all pure amateurs (we are) and just don't have a good grasp on race car life. But since we want a nice finished street car project and we are doing it ourselves. The process is very slow. Allow yourself 4x-5x longer to complete this project than you initially estimate. It's not just; gut the interior, clean some metal, weld some pipes, spray some paint and reassemble. No two cars are the same. In our case nearly every pipe and section required trimming and fiddling for a proper fit. This is a process... I'm not a professional welder. This car will never require certification of the cage for any sanctioned racing. But it will be plenty strong and suit the job of keeping the occupants safe while strengthening the car for the horsepower that is coming its way.
