Extended video: 500th Deep Brain Stimulation surgery milestone

  • The Sydney DBS team recently completed their 500th Deep Brain Stimulation surgery at North Shore Private Hospital. This milestone is a first for NSW. This video features interviews with the team, including Neurosurgeon Dr Raymond Cook; Neurologist Dr Paul Silberstein; Anaesthetist Dr Mark Donnelley and Surgical Assistant George Fracchia. The viewer will also have an opportunity to learn more about the story of the 500th patient, 71 year-old Christopher Miesch who is living with Parkinson's disease. Footage features Christopher before, during and after his deep brain stimulation surgery.

    😎👍🏼❤❤❤ A shout out to Dr Fracchia, our favourite general practitioner in the mid 80’s. Such a warm and passionate person. Great to see our former GP from Top Ryde in Sydney, doing what he loves, living a helpful life with a ready smile. Great team there with him.
