I just had to learn about these to get my VW Cabriolet running right. I had 78psi (full fuel pump pressure) at cold and operating temps. Factory spec is 25/55. I had to hammer that pin in, using a socket as a drift. I had taken my WUR apart like you did in order to figure out how it works. Luckily if you tap the pin in nicely you can get the high pressure down to where it needs to be for cold running. I didn't need to have the tapped screw to pull the pin out. Apparently you can purposely pound the pin out and proud of the housing before starting with your adjustment, so hopefully the tapped screw mod wouldn't be required, but it's handy to have available if you pound the pin in too far. After I set my cold pressure at 25psi I was happy to see that after I hit operating temp, the pressure rose to 55psi and stayed there. Now my car starts easily, and you can simply drive away instead of letting the car warm up for 5 minutes before it'll even let you apply throttle. Such a primitive setup, but I love that it's serviceable.
Hi thanks for your video..i have a cold start issue where the car won't start on cold crank. I have 2.7 ltre magnesium engine 1977. My WUR is the same one you have in video. I tested the connectors on the WUR (2 pins) and it read 28 olms and tested the CSV and clicks on a 12v charge and there is some fuel going through the CSV but not enough to start. would the WUR not give enough fuel pressure to help the car start because of the heater element you state in the video.
please could you confirm, the 19 size drill is this a 4.3mm drill size, and what bolt size did you use, was it a 0.8mm pitch or 0.08mm pitch, im assuming the bolt will be a 5mm in diameter
On my 76 011s with no problems, I have a no idle when warm issue. The car starts great and warms up but now it will not idle and runs rough like it is running lean. The problem got progressively worse over just a two-week duration with limited driving. Do you think the warmup regulator is going bad or maybe the hose has a leak and is allowing air to get in?
Hello, I really can not answer this question. I am not a mechanic. I just happened to have an old Porsche 911. It is very possible you have the same issue as mine. Once I service the warmup regulator, I had no issues. You may want to contact a Porsche Specialist in your area.
Once we stared the project it took about 3 or 4 hours to finish it. That includes time to clean the parts. In one morning you can do this. It is not that hard to take the Warm Up Regulator out f the engine. Very best for you!
@@porschepassion9114 thanks for letting me know how long it took to rebuild it but how long did it take to receive the rebuild kit once you ordered it? I’m assuming you’re in the US? I understand that they ship from Australia. I’m curious if you remember how long it took to ship to your location?
@@karinfrederking3809 can nit remember. May a week or so. This was long time ago. They will ship the item for you. Good people. Had great reviews at that time.
Thanks for the video, I’m about to try rebuilding my 1977 WUR and will follow your guidance. Question. - The replacement gasket looks different with only one chamber open Vs two in the old gasket - will this be an issue ?
We are using the original springs. Since fixing it we did not have any issues and did not do any other changes. Use the original springs which are better.
Great video on the rebuild! Just a couple questions....did you remove the filter screen(s) and clean those separately in the ultrasonic cleaner? If so, how did you remove the screen(s)? Small pick? Thank you!

After some work i think this is what i need to do. My car starts and dies because i dont think i have enough pressure going through intothe air/fuel distributor. Could this be it?

Excellent tutorial! Best one on RUclips. Thank you.
Many Thanks!
I thought the description of the part you're working on is a warm-up regulator and not a fuel distributor.
It is the Warm up regulator part of CIS. You may want to read up on it.

Just got my rebuild kit. Did you stick with the original springs after install or switch back to the new springs?
We are using the original springs. Since fixing it we did not have any issues and did not do any other changes. Use the original springs which are better.
Perfect. Thank you.
It's not a heating element, it is a heat sensor. There is nothing heated up by voltage.
No, it's a heating element
Brilliant video Thank you ! 👍

I believe we did put all the items in to the ultrasonic cleaner.
Que porsche lo usara es una garantía para los que tenemos vw con k-jetronic,supongonque abra repuestos por mucho tiempo
Another question... you "lightly snugged" the nut on the bi-metallic strip. Did you ever go back and tighten anymore?
We did not tighten it as such. But we did adjusted it. It does control fuel. So do not tighten it.
Woooow amazing video ,where to find a WUR adjustable rebuilt kit ? Regards
Here is where i got it: k-jet.biz/
ORANGE O'RING replaces the one at the electrical connector. it's round but fits a rectangular shape.
Around the 9:15 min mark, who is that saying "Show them all the dirt"? I ask because it sounds like the fellow who rebuilt my engine...

Would it be ok to put the whole unit into a ultrasonic bath for cleaning ?
Yes. We did put every thing in. Make sure to remove the electrical connector.
