The older I get, the more I eat what I want and whatever my body is craving. I guess you could say, my mind & emotions tell me what I want, and my body tells me what I need. I don't diet anymore or count calories. I do try to eat a good amount of fresh, whole foods - my body craves it and I love it. But I also eat the foods I know I shouldn't have if I mentally/emotionally want it.
There are exceptions sometimes. For example, I didn't buy any fudge from the antique shop and then I regretted not buying any. Next time I go home, I'm definitely buying fudge. So many flavors to choose from.

Hiding it under the napkin on the table. Chewing it up and spitting it into the water glass. Getting up to use the bathroom and spitting it out in the toilet. No wonder our whole family was overweight because we were over eating continually. Everyone needs to do what's good for them. You found something that works for you and that's a good thing! ❤😊
Restrictive diets are not fun! I know because I'm diabetic and have Mastocytosis. Many recently acquired allergies (about 3 years now). There's some things I really crave, but the reaction is not worth it. I've got to the point that I can watch someone eat something I can't have (like chocolate or pop, both cause allergic reactions) and it doesn't feel too bad. Positive side is that I feel way better. I've had people tell me that if they were allergic to chocolate, they would rather die! Not very sensitive, but okay! 🙄
I think most of the comments you're talking about are posters that are saying it because they care. If not, just ignore the naysayers! You're awesome! I applaud you and your journey. You'll tweak things as you feel it's needed. 🙂👍

Same thing for diets and mother. Obsession with appearances, I think that was that generation. My son in law has always served the food to everyone, including guests, both of my grandchildren are obese. They act like starved dogs. Dad should have not done what he did. Of course he comes from small people with no weight issues.
I don’t like the idea of portioned meals for anyone unless they are asking for them prepared that way, I think it takes from their dignity as a person. I believe my son in law is a control freak and it has been one of his ways of control. Grand children gained their weight as soon as they were able to make their own spending money and could buy what they wanted.
Let your family eat, set down to a meal with serving dishes on the table or self serve from the kitchen. You will have enough time as an empty nester or widow to just grab something. Sorry just wisdom from already experiencing many life issues.
Oh yes I have delt with weight since I was in fourth grade.

Never, ever put someone under the age of 21 on a "diet". Your body is still growing, your mind is developing, and your hormones are still settling in to a long-term balance. You will mess up a young person's metabolism and hormone balance BOTH by overfeeding them or under feeding. It's better to focus on being active and having good routines around eating ie: slowing down, eating while sitting at a table, eating a serving from a plate, finding hobbies other than food related, and self-care.
Once your an adult, the struggle is REAL for figuring out what works for each individual. I, for one, because I have A.D.D, DO NOT do well with too much decision making around processed food. I just end up blanking out & binging. Someone else might be able to have it in the home. To thine own self be true.♥️🇨🇦

OMAD doesn't mean the food you eat has to be only rabbit food. Deprivation usually does mean regain. At least 3 -4 Keto channels I used to watch who all lost weight while they were strict to moderate, ended up gaining most or almost all of it back. Things happen and those of us that turn to food as self-medication start reaching for the items they deprived themselves of. I truly believe the key is for each person to experiment and figure out what works for them including sleep, dealing with stress, activity. Obviously OMAD your way is working so keep at it!

Or the expression: If you can't say anything nice.... don't say anything at all!!!!
And as Christians we pray for our enemies 🙏.
    Nuff said!!!
    Miss Monique 🙂🙏🌷💗

Dawn, you are doing awesome! The way you explain the psychology of it makes total sense. That is just human nature. We sometimes want what we can't have. By ending restrictions, it eases the stress of dieting. You found what works for you, and that is great. I am happy for you! Ignore those comments! Very rude. Thank you for sharing. God bless you ❤️

Dawn, everything you stated rings true to me as well growing up with a challenge since I was about 10 or 11 and my mom did the same to me, I was even put on prescription amphetamines when I was about 12 for a period of time.. my relationship with food was totally messed up, because as you said deprivation made makes you want something more and I got into a habit of hiding food, emotional eating etc. something finally clicked for me when I took a class in 2008 in my chiropractic office about the glycemic index and I learned about reading labels and how to choose whole healthy foods most of the time, but still allow myself to eat things that are not as healthy in a small portion here and there in balance. I have successfully lost and maintained over 100 pounds. Still trying and hopeful to lose more, but I have still have a healthier outlook and eat a healthier lifestyle. Only those who live it know what it’s like to be a life start a lifetime of dieting, which is now a four letter word to me that I never use because diets do not work. You’re doing great and it’s your journey and you have a lot of courage to share it.🥰🦋🦋❤

Your choices are your choices, a diet is not only what you eat but it is as well how you eat, that being said, I have some people I know that keep asking me if I am this if I am that, food wise and if I eat organic, I say it will only be organic if you produced the product yourself. It is no other person business to negatively comment about what you are being kind enough to share with others.

People make comments all the time and I tell them I feel good and my Dr says I am healthy. So unless tho have a medical degree keep your criticisms to yourself. So happy for you!!!

Bravo, Dawn! What I embarked on in June was an eating and exercise plan I expect to be "how I live" the rest of my life. And part of that is to not worry about not following my usual daily practice when I'm at another's home or at a celebration. For example, I typically eat with an emphasis on whole foods within an 8-hour window, but next week I'm meeting friends at 6:30 pm for supper. I'm glad that the place the birthday girl chose has a salad that is in line with my usual type of meal, but if she hadn't , big deal. I would still go and eat something that I usually don't eat and have fun. Flexible and grace-filled for the long haul. Good luck to us both.

I'm glad I do not particularly like sweet things. I now find things are so sweet that I
cannot bare to eat them. I very rarely make anything sweet. Very rarely have a dessert and never drink sodas.

Sugar makes me feel sick. Even as a child I would avoid it and preferred salty foods. I do enjoy a little bit of dessert every now and then, like a piece of birthday cake, but I can't eat much. I never drink soda and have no urge to!

I cheat on my diet at family dinners, and at church social functions. It makes life easier. The rest of the time, I am trying to stay on low carb under 100, maybe less than 50, and some intermittent fasting. I rely on a few tricks to help me. Like condiments; they say ketchup is half sugar. I have switched to GV Stone Ground Mustard, and have not used ketchup in years. Another is my switch to sweet potato plan, instead of rice or pasta. If you can do OMAD, you have great willpower.!!!

My dear friend, you look absolutely amazing! Since I've been to where I can't stand much anymore, I would do my exercises in my wheelchair. I'd watch RUclips sitting exercises. Turning my head up and down, side to side. Repeat. Doing the same with my arms and legs. What I like better than that, is dancing. I can't dance worth a flip. Lol. I just enjoy that more than doing legs lifts. The best part is, is I'm having a lot of fun. Blessings ❤

Everyone has a set-point for weight and such. It will be interesting to see what yours is. Could it be that you are at your set point. Eating healthy and having activities are wonderful goals all by themselves. Your weight loss since May sounds very healthy!!! I read somewhere that 1.5lbs or so per week is more than plenty and not a shock to our bodies. If your heart and blood are healthy then enjoy your foods. Also, my doctor told me once, not to concentrate on what I cannot have but to focus on what I can have. Medications will dictate some of that as well. I wish you every success and I pray you have happiness in your journey as well. p.s. it may have Dolly Parton who said once that she allows herself one bite of something she really loves.
