    I would appreciate it if you guys would check out my recent video as i personally think was done far better than this one, this video was my first video where ive had to do research and missed out a few massive points such as the lockdown etc. it was also my first video to make fully on After Effects so i was messing around with the memes which resulted in the videos flow being ruined. If this video didnt blow up it would've been deleted already by now, but thank you for checking me out :)

    I think Mappa’s biggest advantage besides the high quality is the ability to pick good series, like if you use your budget to invest in a show with bad plot, no matter how amazing the animation is, people still won’t watch it, so I think it’s pretty important to pick the good show as the first step. Dororo, Dorohedoro, banana fish, yuri on ice, JJK and chainsaw man are all good shows with interesting plot

    The mappa effect is pretty funny to me. The shows are peaking at those points for a few different reasons. Firstly, for shows like AOT and JJK these shows are coming in with alot of hype to begin with even prior to the announcement of the seasons. Secondly, mappa simply got alot of good series at the same time and adapted them well. They've managed to gain momentum from animating all those great series and that is what is boosting their new animes. The real Mappa effect has been their ability to take existing hype and transferring it to their other projects.

    • @ben99ny69
      @ben99ny69 10 месяцев назад +16

      AOT had a lot of hype because season 3 part 2 gave the series a huge boost and phenomenal critical reception. But the other big thing, aspecially for JJK, was covid. Covid blew up home entertainment and others things. Such as manga, manga sales blew up in the US and worldwide.
      Chainsww man was already really popular prior to anime and even before the announcement. And along with spy ramily, the reason the manga got so popular in 2020 was cause of covid.
      So basically it's all cause of covid lol.

      @@samarjeetbhonsle6000 The fact that it’s after the pandemic doesn’t mean it’s not affected. I’m saying anime in general has been unpopular, and since everyone had to stay home, there have been a lot more people introduced to it. Since anime is generally good and mappa sticks to animating already popular manga, it’s no surprise that it’s going to be popular, mappa is known for good animation so it just makes people more hype knowing that their favorite manga is getting a good adaptation. Hence the surge of popularity after 2020 started.

      Delegating available resources is a factor too. I think Mappa was stuck between either priorotizing an emerging IP(JJK S1) or an established IP(AoT S4p1). If JJK S1 is done right, they are sitting on 10 years worth of potential income. Meanwhile if AoT S4p1 was done right, the show can only runs for 3 yeas at best. That is probably what the executives were thinking.

  • @frupunrounin738
    @frupunrounin738 10 месяцев назад +122

    I wouldn't really say the rise in popularity of animanga that they adapt is entirely due to the fact that they're handling the adaptation, brand recoginiton does help but not a whole lot, especially during 2020. AoT was popular before but it saw it's biggest boom during the pandemic, when most people decided to give anime a shot. Same for Jujutsu Kaisen. The fact that it had a strong team thus having great animation helped too. Oh yeah, I guess the same thing happened with Dorohedoro because if I remember correctly, it dropped internationally at he beginning of the pandemic?
    Vinland Saga is an interesting case because back in 2019 when the anime aired no one outside of a few social circles was talking about it, I assume because it originally streamed only on Amazon Prime. Including manga fans it had a very niche fanbase until 2021 onwards when netflix dropped their english dub (in japan but circulated via rips) which I thin brought in more fans, then gained even more popularity in 2022 when it started streaming internationally on Netflix proper. That brought even more attention when Season 2 started airing which brought about the "no enemies" meme and that brought even more fans.
    Basically, Manabu Otsuka just has a good eye for what's gonna be successful and that's why MAPPA picks up all the big projects. Also a lot of series tend to gain popularity with an anime adaptation. Just look at Tokyo Revengers. The adaptation is so unremarkable but it did numbers before and after it aired, so really it's not entirely a MAPPA thing.

    Honestly, after KyoAni burned down (RIP to the victims :( ) I didn't expect to see another studio that would create such beautiful, stunning artistically developed anime so consistently like them. They're not quite on the same level yet, but they're damn close. The direction they took AOT is amazing. Their focus on lighting, camera work, etc. is really REALLY paying off. I love their CSM work as well. (They did make CSM, right?!) They're doing kind of what Euphoria was/is doing in America in terms of cinematography. That being said, I want them to have better life standards for their workers. They need a union or some shit because Japan is literally killing itself with its working conditions.
