Struggling to get that feeling of depth to draw 3-dimensional forms? Try this quick trick and see if it helps. - Развлечения
I had just been doodling these shapes without thinking for months, until I realized the depth in my serious drawings were improving and this video confirms for me that there was a method to the madness that my lazy doodles were trying to teach me.
Thats one thing i notice that is in particular strange about art. If you ask a carpenter or a martial artist how they got good they can easily tell you. The whys and the hows. But if you ask an artist how he got good chances are you'll get back a "hmm.... I don't know."
Right? :D Well to a degree I do, it's just that a lot of things that worked for one person don't work for another.
I had a student say the same thing. Turns out they had aphantasia. I would implore anyone who is teaching art to ask their class if anyone has or is aware of aphantasia because my student didn't even know what it was and after they told me and we studied aphantasia together, they felt so much more at ease with their art journey and could use some techniques that people with a vivid imagination would never think to use. Great video btw!
Even though i know its real, i have a hard time believing some people cant visualize something even if they see or know what it is. Wouldnt it be less of an issue once a person studies the object long enough? Like if they looked at an apple long enough theyd be able to retain and see it in their head?
Yeah I am aware of aphantasia, but that's more related to what one can visualize. In this case, my student could imagine, but not perceive depth when drawing, so this exercises helped him
As far as I heard from people that have it, not really :( pretty sad
@@NothingHereForYou No, they can't visualise things even after they study them. Their brains simply work differently. RUclips has some great interviews with people who have it. Check them out. You having a hard time understanding how it works means you're probably very visual and can't er, 'imagine' what it would be ike to not be able to imagine, and that makes sense. It's hard to get your head around not being able to visualize things but we should consider ourselves lucky.
@@NothingHereForYouYeah I have aphantasia and can’t picture things in my head at all, no matter how much I’ve studied them. Bit ironic considering art is my main hobby, but y’know

... I need to touch grass.
Yeah….yeah. 😔
Im just practicing 3 point perspective, as well as angles, once I master that, I'll improve for sure. Thanks for this video, it helped me so much ❤
Happy to help!
cool. I've not seen this exercise with the blobs. seems like it would be quite helpful. thanks.
Happy to help!
Scott Robertson is that Guy. Every time.
Yeah he's a beast in terms of perspective :D
Oh fuck… oh holy fuck I’m gonna try this-

Thank you for this!
Thanks for watching!
Where’s the video of spacial awareness or what it’s called? I didn’t see it…😮

The one skill, doesn't the link pop up?

@@ChiII.318 Damn youtube. It's this one ruclips.net/video/Ol6Erpn7K6Q/видео.html
@@theartofnemo nope no link pop up👀
I've been practicing this if I have time, sadly I become busier and busier.
So if someone has trouble imagining depth on a 2D plane the answer is more construction grids around the object?
A simplified grid to be able to see space recede, yes
Great stuff!
I'm a youtuber too, nice to meet you Nemo!
Thanks! Nice to meet you too!
Actually I saw your stuff last week! I love it!
@@theartofnemo Thank you, glad you've liked it :)
