Never boring, Martijn…it’s the natural rhythms of your life, the seasons, the unfolding logistics of your build and the gentle flow of visitors and volunteers that keep many of us coming back. Please, no pressure to manufacture content, it is exactly the absence of manufactured reality that keeps many of returning to your little piece of paradise every week.

The tranquility is probably one of my favorite parts of the video, it gets me to think about doing my own projects calmly and separate my mind from the daily 9 to 5 daily grind. Martijn, the vast majority of comments here tell you you are producing something we value - come rain or shine, slow weeks or busy ones. Keep being you, and don't set up unsustainable expectations for yourself. Your authenticity, and the slow pace of your life, are such a tonic in a shallow, fast-paced and cynical world.

Dear Martijn, I have followed you from the first episode and never missed a video. I prefer those videos where you are alone, doing things. The "boring" episodes are the best, the ones where I can also relax and enjoy the landscapes and the tune of life in the mountains. We get bombarded by "non-boring" crazy things every day in our life. Watching your videos is a rare luxury that I keep for myself. Please do not change anything and never adjust your videos to the demands of your followers. Everyone is free to watch whatever he/she likes and people who are here, in this channel, they are here for a reason. Your content is so original!

I follow your channel since the first episode and I have to say I deeply admire your authenticity and visionary handcraft. I remember that I thought in the beginning, how on earth will this guy manage to transform these medieval rotten sheds into a home?! I think me and all your other over 700.000 followers appreciate your visible process of transformation, which shows what we are capable of doing as human beings, if we have a clear vision, love and the desire to create soulful beauty. In my opinion you shouldn't feel pressure to do something what you think others want to watch. Follow your own rhythm and heart. This is what is most inspiring. Thanks dear Martijn! Harmony and fulfilment all the way!

I appreciated, valued, enjoyed this episode just as much as the previous 128 segments. Weather, circumstances, obligations, and our personal needs affect what we do and how we do it. Expectations? I think most of us want you to be happy, succeed in this wonderful project, and share your journey. So happy you keep it real, honest and authentic here. That's becoming a rare event in this world. Many of us ignore the need for self-care - a break to hike, bike, explore or learn something new. I urge you to care for your needs. Thank you, Martijn. God bless.

As someone with the ADHD and moving between projects hobbies interests and anything that catches my shiny receptors, that quotation on boredom has resonated with me for decades. And while i will use it as a jab to those who are vocally determined to let everyone know their current state of mind, i also recognize the countless ways our brains work and attention spans, attentions to details, how intuitive and creative we are, all sorts of characteristics, and how engaged different types of people react to the constant world around us. Those most vocal to let everyone know their engagement levels and lack thereof as is most times the case must not recognize that boredom is a function of their own mechanisms, and exploring that for myself ... squirrel!! Boredom is boring, for those who proclaim it, and for those who defy it. I want to change my tune, and instead of almost belittling those who are bored all the time, i want to learn techniques in how to address the boring dilemma to those who say it where i can interject in a positive manner. Luckily i don't have the ability to dismiss unknown concepts, but i do have the ability to confront them, so the unknown has diminished over time due to this, sometimes feeling as if to a fault, but knowledge is security for me, and i want to teach those who dismiss all too much on a whim, to embrace each and every new thing long enough to fit into the world model they view. Well rounded understanding of more and more of the world around us, id assume over a lifetime is just a logical way to live longer, healthier, happier. But boring can be capitalized on, and the feed of perpetual carefully created mind control (social media et al) is as great a tool for hearts and minds as instilling curiosity in the unknowns. So the whole concept of boring is something that really needs to be examined for detrimental effects on the evolution and growth of civilization.. and remedies that put that energy elsewhere. Im rooting for ya people of the bored, to be fed a quick fix of purposely targeted infotainment and the like can be challenged with more training to identify and process all facets of the world around us to form a tangible understanding in how to play a part in steering it forward with higher confidence . short feeds of clowning around and all manner of timewaster type content is just a transfer of power from your influence to megalithic entities and their goals and agendas.

I think your videos are wonderful. Perhaps some people prefer to see you build something quickly and then get an immediate result where they see the finished result, but there are other renovation channels that do this. You have 724k followers, and I'm pretty sure most of us are here because we enjoy your style. The slow, authentic, relaxing videos that aren't full of shouting and running about and random noise. Thank you for providing that calm oasis in this fast-paced world.

I can't express adequately in words how appreciative I am that you're sharing your life with us here. The building work, the scenery & nature...even the mundane stuff like prepping a meal, caring for the chickens and the greenhouse. I guess it's a bit voyeuristic if you want to look at it through that lens. But what you're creating and sharing is real, and you express it in a very honest and pure way. I love it.

Voyeuristic, it actually cross my mind why do we watch. I got pulled in watching Martijn when he was biking to South America, I was in awe with his determination and will power to continue. Then came this project, another mind blowing hard work, it's fascinating to me that a human has no fear of not being successful no matter what. Everything he touches is done to perfection. I admire who he is as a person so that is why I watch.

My daughter and I were discussing the pace of your work and how that’s reflected in your videos. She says the pace is too slow generally to keep her interest, but I disagree. You are filming real life and how it unfolds at a natural pace, sometimes slow, sometimes quicker. That is exceedingly rare in films, which is why I find it so refreshing. The fact that you don’t constantly narrate, but rather show, is part of this. Keep on doing it. I am and will continue to be a regular watcher of your videos.

The fact that your videos reflect the week as it was is what makes this channel great IMHO. Your channel is set apart from most others by being truly geunine, which is what I think most people watching your channel is here for, something real. Dude - that some things that you do are, on occasion, boring, is no impediment. The whole beauty of this vlog is the documentary process of this amazing DIY project. It's the details of the work, the environs themselves, meeting your friends, watching you prepare the food you've grown & raised, etc.

The tranquility of them, that's what's magical to me. Even if you sat all day on the grass looking at mountains, I'd still watch the video. It reminds me that it's ok to just be. Mushroom picking, walking, all the supposedly "boring" things are so wonderful. It didn't seem like this was ever a construction type of channel, it's a lifestyle and it's beautiful. Also, cheeky chicken... always a comic relief with chickens. So much character in those tiny dinosaur bodies 😆

There is a reason for the whole “slow movement,” that became popular a few years ago; slow food prep, slow Reno work, slow fade ins, slow long distance shots, slow progress, it’s all beautiful, it’s mindfulness, it’s what we all need. Thank you for this, Martijn, I’m here for that. You are not an entertainer in the shallow sense, you are an artist, and powerful and gorgeous art making takes time. As a teacher, when the kids said, “it’s boring,” or, “I’m bored,” my answer was always the same, ‘life is what you make it, what you put into it, it’s not my job to entertain you, but to teach you.’ People who are bored are making you responsible for their happiness or fun. Please ignore them and keep on being who you are.
