Mysterious Vanishings | Weird Or What? | S3EP8 - Weird or What examines whether we can mysterious disappear without a trace. It looks at the case of three men who vanish from a yacht off the coast of Australia. It, then, goes to Vermont where almost a dozen people have disappeared from a remote mountain wood. Finally, in Tasmania a pilot disappears after he was chased by an unknown craft.

- Mr. Shatner is so wonderful narrator with a flavor of humoristic self-irony, that one is just helplessly surrendered to watch him to take program forward. By the way, Spock - Shatner was already an axel hard to beat. So seamlessly and charismatically masterfully the couple worked with each other.

Its usually in the woods too or remote areas, and when/if found they are insanely far away from where they were and theres no evidence of why they died. Its really, really weird.
@@davidca96 The guy who wrote the original Missing 411 book has written more books on the subject. One of them is about mostly male persons who have disappeared mysteriously in cities. It is very strange. Whatever is happening it is occurring in wilderness areas and urban areas. There are, of course, similarities among the urban cases that Mr Paulides and his associates look at. They are male and usually highly intelligent. The victim is usually on his way home at night in foot and suddenly begins to act disoriented. Sometimes the body is eventually recovered (in an area already searched) but there is no conclusive cause of death reported.
I think there are now four books in the series. One of them is about missing cases in Australia. Whatever is happening is going on in many different areas of the world including urban areas. Paulides never gives his opinion on what or who is doing this. It sure would be nice if the “experts” would stop disregarding these unsolved cases and actually investigate the strange circumstances instead of giving their unproven theories about what happened.

I remember the Frederck Valentich disappearance well. There were also a large number of reported UFO incidents around that time in the days prior to and after Valentich's disappearance (including a USO [photographed] exiting the Ocean and transitioning into a UFO at nearby Cape Ottway just 20 MINUTES prior to the Valentich's disappearance - a set of sequenced photos photos exist of this incident). And also, this happened just weeks before the now also famous 'Kaikoura Lights' incident in nearby New Zealand, where an Australian TV News and Camera crew were invited on board a New Zealand Argosy Cargo aircraft to record the bright UFO/s (also tracked by multiple ground radars) that had been pacing the cargo plane on it's scheduled night flights across Cook Straight between North and South Islands - with the resulting film footage now being history.
NO confirmed parts of Valentich's Cessna 182 have ever been found, washed up, or turned up in local fishing trawler nets, etc, in the 43 years since (as I write).
Valentich and his plane disappeared from the moment his voice was cut off in mid communication with Melbourne Air Traffic Controllers. The Australian Government/Military have also never since released to the general public the actual FULL communication recording minutes or transcript of the rather lengthy communications exchange Valentich had with Melbourne before he was suddenly cut of in mid conversation, the recording and transcript that exists in the public sphere has only ever been an edited one.
Definitely one of the best episodes! Some of these have got missing 411 all over them.

You would only have your runner buoys alongside the ship if you were going into port or meeting up with another ship. if they were out alongside then another vessel has met them & taken the men off the boat, strange how they left the boat behind which begs even more questions.
I think they could have gone through a time portal to another dimension and are alive and well somewhere else
Conservation of energy, and conservation of momentum make time travel impossible. Conservation of energy requires that the EXACT same amount of mass/energy as is sent would have to be transferred from the destination point to the starting point in space-time simultaneously with the transfer from starting point to destination point. Conservation of momentum means that you would have to calculate EXACTLY the movement in space-time and match it on both ends, which is impossible because we have no zero referent in space-time to calculate from.
But I do really like time travel stories...

That Sunday Night I was driving west on Bell Street , when all of a sudden in formation, about 4 or 5 large headlights came into the sky. They just appeared, and just as quick they went out. They didn’t fly off in any direction , just like you turned off a light. The next day I called in to see my mother in law she said their talking about the young pilot that went missing over bass strait last night on the radio. So I rang the radio station and told what I had seen . After I got off the air, a woman got on the radio and said she had seen a large headlight circling the Essendon Airport. The woman thought it was a plane in trouble seeing that she lived on the edge of the runway she was concerned , she got in contact with traffic control they said no plane was in trouble
With Frederck Valentich case I think nowadays you can't ignore possible UAP. Some people saw his plane with an object above it so it is possible.
The owner of the Kaz II, as an experienced yachtsman, would NOT have just jumped in without a life vest or a rope to get back onboard. An unexplained disappearance does not need a lame explanation such as that.

I believe in Aliens and the fact that there is much more intelligent beings,than some of us,know about. But in this case I think its either a kidnapping by someone they knew or a human error,as stated.

Valentich most certainly wasn’t a »flight instructor", and the flight over Bass Strait was a training flight to supplement his 120 hours of flying time in his efforts to join the military to get a commercial pilot license that way.
He was an “ardent believer” in UFOs and often worried about being attacked by one!
It also came out that Frederick Valentich had applied twice to the Royal Australian Air Force, and was rejected both times for inadequate educational experience. He was also studying to be a commercial pilot but had failed his examinations twice. He had also received several warnings, after flying once into a restricted zone in Sydney, and twice into clouds.

No they don’t. That many are “reported” missing. Most are found. If that many people were going missing every year, the population would quickly drop and it would be very noticeable. There would be missing persons signs EVERYWHERE.

Considering the researcher said that there are 'earthquakes' in the Bass Straits area (and sure enough, if you look up the geology of that zone you will see an expanse of basalt - a volcanic rock), it may just be that the unfortunate pilot crossed the sea at the same time there was some sort of gas escape from the igneous zone.
Certain volcanic gases, hot gases especially, are less dense than those present in our atmosphere and rise. Rising up to the plane, they could have starved both the pilot and the plane of oxygen (the pilot then starting to see things that aren't there as his engine begins to struggle), and as a consequence the pilot could have lost consciousness as the plane's engine fails, both falling into the sea.
I'm sure that if the Australian government could be bothered to pay for a proper salvage operation, they would find the plane and possibly the young man's remains too.
(It has already been tested and proven that volcanic gases bubbling up from the seabed underneath a ship will make it go down. You can't sail a boat on fizzing water, because the water becomes part-air and is no longer dense enough to support the weight of a boat. That can explain many a boat going down mysteriously, as there are a lot of tectonic faults and underwater volcanoes all over our ocean floors).

How do they know that the people who disappeared weren't attacked by pirate's and thrown into the ocean as shark food??? There could have been so many different natural explanations but once people can't come up with a scenario right away they start thinking paranormal or they just draw a blank. I just wish people would stop suggestions of the paranormal because once they start thinking that way that's when these incidents end up going in the wrong direction and hence it becomes a big mystery and people really start guessing and try to draw a conclusion?

It makes no sense whatsoever when you are dealing with 3 very experienced sailors who all be well aware of the fact that simply jumping in would be a death sentence. If the life saving equipment had been used or missing in the first place then this theory would have some value but as it is he is simply trying to give the simplest explanation whilst waving his arms as saying "nothing to see here"

I am a very inexperienced boater but twice I've had people go overboard and my first reaction was cut the engine and turn around, so as plausible as the all overboard explanation is, with those guys I don't know.

Definitely that crew went overboard and lost the boat. That happened to me once on a Jetski. I was towing a dingy, both of us fell off. Although the ignition key disconnected along with me, between the momentum, and the current, we were long lost. Thankfully we were riding in a group and they helped us recover the ski.
