i've always felt that Aunt Wu was a legit fortuneteller, but the moral of the story was that if you are so obsessed with someone (or smt) else telling you how your future's gonna be, then you either become too anxious, indecisive and addicted to it, like Katara, or too complacent and reckless, like most of the ppl in the town. so Aunt Wu, trying to give the townspeople hope and comfort, made them dependant to her and her predictions. it probably started with those good intentions, but then she also became addicted and dependant to giving hope and comfort to everyone that listened to her, so _then_ she started making up predictions, like when she saw that Aang was kinda disappointed that she didn't see anything about his love life and then added smt made-up to the original prediction just to make him happy. i don't personally believe in fortunetelling, but i think that to the ppl who believes in it, knowing about your future can bring peace and hope, and that's what Aunt Wu was trying to aim at and imo that's obviously a good thing, because it's definitely useful, and Sokka (ever the skeptic) couldn't understand that. but ofc like we saw on this episode, fortunetelling can also become a bad thing. this is a nice self-contained ep with a good lesson that shows both sides of the same coin. i think that's kinda the spirit of ATLA, to teach stuff in simple (but effective) ways to kids and make them think. great reaction, as always! and thanks for the double drop this week!
Nice analysis. I want to add, that there is a 100yrs war going on. Fire Nation taking more and more land of the Earth Kingdom. Their village could be next. A kind fortunteller giving hope to the people is very welcomed then.
@@mUndertakerg yeah, definitely. i think the series does a good job with showing how the world has been struggling with the lost of hope that the Avatar represents: the earthbenders from Haru's town basically giving up against an "unbeatable" enemy, the Freedom Fighters rising up to stand against the Fire Nation, the fortuneteller trying to give that town something to look up for, etc...
Hilarious intro, petting Momo and Appa like you're some Saturday morning cartoon villains 😂 Aang finally seeing Katara in a romantic way and trying to get closer to her made for such an entertaining episode, meanwhile Katara was looking for her "tall, powerful" guy. Just like Katara throws Aang into the terrible "friendzone" at first, Aang does it himself with Meng - making him realize what an unfortunate turn of events that is from the perspective of "the other side". The Aunt Wu plotline feels very topical and Sokka trying to convince everyone otherwise - both top tier comedy and a healthy dose of "doomer-ism" when you realize just how easily influenced people are. The most beautiful part by far was seeing how everyone banded together to save the village from the vulcano - teamwork makes the dreamwork...and having the Avatar on your side helps too! Thank you for the excellent reaction, commentary and discussion at the end, you did a great job ❤
The fortuneteller probably has some real abilities. But, she milks what little predictions she gets right to a whole new level. Aang, when he chooses to unleash, is extremely powerful. He didn't even go into the Avatar State to do what he did.
1:48 And that, folks, is the ancient art of Friend-Zoning practiced subtly but masterfully by girls all around the globe 🤣 5:10 Ya know who else is a very powerful bender? ................................................................. Prince Zuko! 😏 6:34 Sokka's mad that Aunt Wu didn't see a girl in his divination........................................ because there's more than just "a" girl! 🤫 8:28 Yeah, don't be a doormat! Girls will always say nice is what they want to bring home to her parents, but that's only so they can appear to be ladylike - when in truth, what they're looking for is some element of danger and adventure 🤪 13:56 That 10-year-old voice actress for Meng impressed the producers so much, they decided to bring her back later in the series for something......... more substantial 🤭
Idk about aang being the powerful avatar, but he's the powerful air bender.....total raw power of air bending by a (112)12 old boy, and he didn't use the avatar boost for that, though aang is unique Avatar
I always liked the meng-aang sub story like, kids fell in love all the time with people that don´t notice them and it´s ok idk i like that a "kids tv show" deals with rejection in a cool way

I like that your momo is bigger than your appa
Thata big Momo from episode 12
Momo's eyes made that expression in two episode. No spoilers. Pop quiz, in your minds.

Did you just learn Emoji symbols?
@@DDD11239 I cannot see emoji. I'm emoji-blind 😵
Avatar is the best show in history
Fax
Second only to "Monk" (Adrian Monk, the detective).

The shipping debates between Zutara and Kataang (Katara and Aang) can pretty heated in the fandom
The VA for Meng will return for a new character and I think you'll love her when she arrives.
