Goodness, I was thoroughly confused there for a minute or two till I realised you were using American terminology! Once I had grasped that, all was well! 😀 This is a very useful little pattern, with its neat rounded corners - thanks a lot!
@@24caratcrochetCoUk No problem! I was only confused for a short while! Now have several excellent new hot-water bottle covers, which will come in VERY useful this winter!
Had some left over yarn and started this as a quick project. For the life of me couldn’t figure out why I only had 49 stitches until I got about 3/4 and saw I’d missed a stitch in row 1! 😬 not going back now 🤣 Lovely project. Thanks heaps.
Great tutorial! I got quite desperate with my attempt to crochet a cover without an actual pattern. I'm just not good at improvising 🙈 I am gonna go yours now. After undoing mine 🙄😭🙈
Thanks for the tutorial! I'm thinking of making one of these for Christmas. I'm just wondering how this would look in an eyelash or very fluffy type of yarn.
+Ian Sharpes These would probably look great in these types of yarn. My only real reservation is - I've made a cover which was quite thick and it was almost too well insulated and I could feel a bit less of the heat coming through. The upside is, the water seems to stay hotter for longer. The one I had with quite a thick cover - I could still feel some warmth at almost 5'clock in the morning.
Thanks for such great tutorial Zoe, I'll definitely be looking into making one of these in the next month or two! Nice and simple and easy to follow, I'll be going over to ravelry now and adding it to my queue.
Hello Zoe, I'm trying to make my first crochet video. Your camera was in a great position. How did you set up your camera? I love the water bottle cover. Also, is anyone having trouble receiving their RUclips subscriber email notifications in their email. It's been a week now and I'm not receiving any of my RUclips subscriber emails. ThU
+tess kee We'd love to see videos from you, fantastic! I have a little desktop tripod for these "how to" videos and use it for most of the videos where I'm sitting in a chair showing items I've done or chatting. The ones where I'm standing in my dining room, I have a standard "normal" tripod. I bought this little tripod about a year or two ago and can't remember how much I paid for it, I thought it was a lot cheaper than this actually - something around £12. This little desktop tripod is very versatile and you can angle your camera in loads of different ways. www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Table-Top-Tripod-Removable-Telescopic/dp/B000V7UAJS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1444300883&sr=8-6&keywords=desk+top+tripod. RUclips, Google+ and the emails connected with them have been odd and other people have also been complaining about not getting notification of things too. Google+ and YT have disconnected themselves a few weeks ago (you used to have to have a G+ with a YT account - certainly if you wanted to interact more). So, sorry, I'm not sure what's going on there. :(
+24 Carat Crochet Thank's Vmuch for sharing your video technique. I wish you were here in the US to help me make my first crochet video. I think you will like it. The stitch is something I created and could even be used to make a cover for a hot water bottle. I'll try my best to get it out there. And I fixed the email notifications. Somewhere in the RUclips settings I found email notifications and somehow it got turned off; funny I don't remember doing that. I'm back on track now receiving all my emails. See you soon.
I am not sure if the brand I got is around anymore but it looks identical to this one on Amazon www.amazon.co.uk/Knitter-Household-Knitting-Sweaters-Bracelet/dp/B079R362QX/
+DanielBradley1110 My default answer is to use cotton but I have made more covers using acrylic vs cotton yarn. To put your mind at rest, I would suggest doing the test I've done on any acrylic yarn (it's detailed in the written pattern). Warm up a dish, put a piece of yarn in the dish then pour freshly boiled water directly on the yarn. If nothing happens then it should be perfectly safe to use on the outside of a hot water bottle. I've done this on several brands of acrylic yarn with no changes happening in any of the samples. I hope this helps.
Edited. Hi Tina. Sorry, I haven't done a video for a smaller cover. If you reduce the number of chains in the foundation chain so it measures between one and two inches less than the width of your hot water bottle, you should find that works ok. If you follow the pattern in all other aspects, you should be fine (allowing for fewer stitches along the straight sides) and then try on the cover over the bottle when you get near the top. I do this for my hot water bottles and finish the last few while it is on the bottle until I'm happy with the height. I hope this helps.
Yes Jenni, you are correct. I'm fairly sure the written pattern mentions it's US terminology. I try to remember normally in video tutorials whether it's US or UK terminology, sorry if I didn't
+Tina hancock bobwilson123 also has a video for a hot water bottle cover. I do not have a video for a cover that goes in at the top, sorry. ruclips.net/video/O1EFybh_jHA/видео.html
+Tina hancock I'm having another think about this pattern and you can decrease the number of stitches in the initial chain by any number (not just 2 as I said earlier) and it should work ok.
I'm making my second one of these. Thank you for being clear and straightforward.
Many thanks Patricia, much appreciated!

Sorry for the confusion! The written pattern should have "US terminology" written on it but needed to be said on the video too.

Thank you! I always worry when a pattern I've written doesn't work out for someone - so glad you worked out what the problem was.

Love the water bottle cover. What's the name of the yarn used for the tutorial?

Hi I'm guessing this is in US terms as your double is a treble!

I need cover to fit the shape of bottle I dont knw so confused

Thanks Zoe!!! Making one now!
+Mingmow 1 I hope you like making it! :)
Thanks for the "How To".
+BJ7481 Thank you. It was another easy video to record.
I dont have bottle with me nor can I find one to use as a guide :/
+Tina hancock I think the best solution would be to create a cardboard version to the dimensions you need and make a cover to fit that.

Can i have the return pattern for these please. Are you able to send via email.
