The US has suffered from a substandard education system for a long time, so it is no surprise that it has now resulted in the election of a seriously substandard man as the national president. Unfortunately that seriously effects not just the US but also those of us in other better educated western democracies. After the recent shocking electoral result I decided to put the US in the "countries not worth my time" basket and to avoid ever visiting again even though I go to Canada often. However that attitude is probably a mistake and really just a knee jerk reaction. There are many people in the US who will and need to fight on and in whatever way I can, I will support them. The world needs the US to be liberal and progressive and only by being that can it ever claim to be " great" which not about military or financial power but about caring for all citizens.

Hi. In 2020 because of covid millions of ballots were sent out unsolicited, including many to people who no longer lived at those addresses. This time in a number of states ballots were only sent to people who asked for them. There are millions less ballots flying around. The lower vote was expected. 6 of the 7 battleground states are run by Democrats and even in New York Trump cut the Democrat lead in half. i.e. the result is genuine.

Depending on the voting system you choose, it may well have helped this time. Many countries would require the presidential winner to get 50%+ of the vote, so now we’d be looking at a Trump/Harris run-off and another chance to motivate Dems to vote (and more motivation for them to do so given Trump would have obviously led the vote in Round 1)

The US has suffered from a substandard education system for a long time, so it is no surprise that it has now resulted in the election of a seriously substandard man as the national president. Unfortunately that seriously effects not just the US but also those of us in other better educated western democracies. After the recent shocking electoral result I decided to put the US in the "countries not worth my time" basket and to avoid ever visiting again even though I go to Canada often. However that attitude is probably a mistake and really just a knee jerk reaction. There are many people in the US who will and need to fight on and in whatever way I can, I will support them. The world needs the US to be liberal and progressive and only by being that can it ever claim to be " great" which not about military or financial power but about caring for all citizens.

I live in New Zealand, we have a similar problem of unacceptable levels of achievement in literacy and poor grades of school leavers. Many reasons for this, racial cultural bias and monetary input from government in a recession, leading to the dumbing down of our society
Education is a long term investment in the children of society being skilled or unskilled etc. Ultimately wealth and technical ability are the fruits of education. Peace of mind comes after we are taught how to think rather than what to think.

Hi. In 2020 because of covid millions of ballots were sent out unsolicited, including many to people who no longer lived at those addresses. This time in a number of states ballots were only sent to people who asked for them. There are millions less ballots flying around. The lower vote was expected. 6 of the 7 battleground states are run by Democrats and even in New York Trump cut the Democrat lead in half. i.e. the result is genuine.

I'M 53. I grew up in rural NC. Both my parents grew up in NC. And I don't know if it's just because their parents were smart and well spoken, well read, well educated, that it passed down to me, but it did. I don't even think I got that great of an education having mostly attended public schools until college, but I also think both learning and wanting to know the actual truth about any matter takes an inquisitive mind and it takes work. 1- you have to really want it and, 2- you have to put in the work to find it.

I believe the Democrats need some people that can explain our reasoning behind our plans so that these people can understand it.
