Michael J. Fox would be a national treasure for his acting alone. But the fact that he used his status in Hollywood to improve the circumstances for millions of people living through Parkinson's and other neurological disorders make him a true hero and legend. I have family with Parkinson's and we were able to say that this is the best time to ever be diagnosed with Parkinson's thanks to MJF and the work of his foundation. We are forever grateful.

As a nurse, I've cared for Parkinson's patients. Some of them were my dearest friends. They are trapped behind their symptoms, but they are beautiful, lively, passionate people within. Let's never read a person by their outward presentation. A book is not it's cover. Each person you see has a story inside them. Each person has beauty.
I think people take forgranted or simply forget in the 80s MJF was a mega superstar...you couldn't channel surf back then and not see him on something acting his A×× off he is a legend and deserves his 💐 now and forever his influence paved greatness
I've been a fan of Michael J. Fox since "Family Ties" first started and have loved him in various shows and movies. That said, I'm also a fan of him because he's simply an incredible human being. It's funny hearing him say how long he's been married, and I still remember as clear as day being so happy when he and Tracy got married, because they seemed like such a wonderful fit. I don't think it should be underestimated just how much Tracy's spirit helped him in the early years of coping with his diagnosis. A little irony to this interview is, when I first became a fan of Matthew Perry, before "Friends" ever existed, part of it was because he gave off a Michael J. Fox vibe, and in time, like Michael, he took his challenges and used them to help others. RIP, Matthew... You are truly missed.💙
M.J. Fox struggled with alcoholism when he first learned of his condition. He went through a period of self pity and his amazing wife helped bring him out of it. She challenged him, but he answered the call. I think I remember that from ""No Time like the Future" It was a good read. He tells the story much better than me.
@@tabaxikhajit4541 , I haven't read that book, but I remember Michael saying in an interview years ago that after his diagnosis, he started drinking a lot, and one day, he woke up, and Tracy was standing there, and his eyes panned up her body to her face, and she said something like, "Is this really how you want to live your life?" And that moment and seeing her frustration/disappointment with how he wasn't coping with it jolted him back to reality and how he was going to miss out on a lot if he kept trying to drink away his feelings. While in this interview, Michael doesn't want to talk about things being 'meant to be,' I think some of the people we meet in our lives we're meant to meet. I honestly think Michael and Tracy were meant to be, because if they hadn't gotten together, Michael's story could've had a very different outcome.

I think so too. I am happy for him, he deserves to be doing better. He has given other people the chance to fair so much better than he has once they are diagnosed. It sounds like if your caught early with the new advances in treatment and diagnostic testing you may not ever need exhibit Parkinson's symptom's or deal with the overall progressive nature of the disease. I certainly hope that is true.
Michael has really made a tremendous impact and a different outlook on Parkinson’s and is a true examples of strength and he’s a fighter of this sickness! I like what he says about, " If you imagine the worst case senerio and it actually happens- you've lived it twice". He seems much better than in other recent interviews which is wonderful. What he's doing to promote research on defeating this disease is such an admirable thing and, honestly, the research does sometimes offer help into understanding other diseases that effect the brain as well. There are rare diseases like autoimmune encephalitis and neuromyelitis optica that need more of a light shined on them. I wish more money was put in to finding treatments and, hopefully, eventually cures for all of these. I can tell you, from personal experience, anything that effects brain is pretty much a nightmare.
