Dr Eli's book was one of the first OCD clinicians textbooks that I read (and I had read quiet a few) that made a point not to blame parents for their child's anxiety/OCD. That alone made such a difference to me. If clinicians are told that parents cause their children's anxiety/ocd then it is no wonder that they then treat parents as the root cause. This helps no-one and causes such heartache and conflict.

So interesting. I’ve been working with parents only for many years. This book however certainly has given me many tools to more effectively treat the parents and thereby reduce anxiety symptoms

While I appreciate his compassion and concern about the well-being of others, earlier studies show that parents contributed more towards their child’s anxiety than did genetic. With that said I do agree that blaming the parents is wrong not because they did not contribute to the anxiety, but because They like other parents are trying the best they can.
