Amazing video and sheds so much light on this! I had no idea until viewing these videos today what exactly my child was suffering from. Thank you so much!!!

Excellent video. We are guilty of feeding Mr. Bossy :( Stopping will be hard because we naturally want to 'comfort' her. But your explanation was a very good perspective. Our daughter, 11, always asks "Am I breathing'. ALL DAY. :(

I just want to say God bless you for your work and these videos. My daughter is 8 she'd was just diagnosed with OCD two days ago. I have been watching your videos to get me through until her first therapy appointment, and I plan to show her the videos that are appropriate as well. Seriously, thank you. You are an answer to prayer.

I started suspecting OCD in my son when he was only 1. I thought it was cute!
Now, he is 3 and our days are 85% miserably difficult.
    He starts therapy this month.
At the age of 3, he tells me he is a bad kid and wants to die. He asks me to take him to the doctor all of the time. He tries to convince me that he is sick.
He is much worse around the people he is the most comfortable around.
This video was so helpful! I didn't realize I was feeding his OCD monster!

I would highly recommend the type of brain scan that is done at a Dr. Amen clinic (there are quite a few I believe). to make sure a cyst or something else isn’t causing this in the brain and can be physically remedied.
Others suggest doing a vaccine cleanse which just helps remove a lot of the toxic build up from the ingredients that help to stabilize the vaccine when it is injected. The body & brain no longer has need of those extra preservatives but some are pretty hard core things. Theres about 50 Ingredients or more I believe. I was told about a more recent autopsy study done on 8 kids with autism and there is definitely build up in the brain and can cause different things. Dr Susan Brown MD, in Utah does vaccine cleanses and has helped to reverse things like this- which brings much relief to parents!. I’m sure you can Google “vaccine cleanse for children” too. I hope that this helps. Also weird things like OCD /Anxiety can happen when the balance of the bacteria in the intestines are thrown off because of certain ingredients in vaccines, as well as because of antibiotics etc and now several doctors have written books on the Gut Brain Connection and what to do to heal it. It’s amazing the mental struggles that can be healed through this. A good, refrigerated probiotic strain is important to give consistently, like 2 or 3 times a day I can tell you that much. A nurse at the ER I was in one night, who got her Masters degree in Nutrition science from RICE University told me this.. But surely follow your gut instincts too.. And switch up the types of probiotics... Also I’m not trying to be anti-vaccine, this is an objective, scientific knowledge base to work from that could possibly help you or someone else that reads this. I’m so sorry for all your tough struggles... God bless..

Thank you so much for this video! My daughter is 7 and she asks over and over again for reasurrance, asking questions she knows the answer to. I have been guilty of feeding the OCD because I didn't know and I struggle with feeling like I'm going to cause her emotional trauma by ignoring and not answering her. That probably comes from my own trauma of my parents abandoning me and my siblings. So I'm grateful for this video helping me understand the importance of not answering me bossy. I desperately want to help her. When she keeps asking the same questions she is usually panicked and screaming,it is hard not to answer when I try to set boundaries and limit my answering to two times because she will pull on my head and face to try to force me to answer. I contacted nocd and hope to start the journey to get her professional help. Thanks again for this great video!

Wow I love this! I have a child with mid-severe autism and I know there’s a clear difference between repetitive behavior in autism vs ocd. My son has verbal ocd and does checking in a similar form. He hates the ocd and he hates the compulsion and tries hard to avoid and stop it but often the compulsion is too powerful. This video helps....Tips need to be modified to meet his cognitive level, but I’m working on substitutions:)

My son wants to just tell me all his scary thoughts and it’s obvious that’s it’s a compulsion because then he instantly feels better ( for a short period of time). He is 12 and we just watched this together. I think it helped and we are creating a plan so that when he wants to tell me his scary thoughts, I will tell him that it’s his OCD wanting to talk to me and he can stop thinking about the scary thought on his own.

Thank you so much for this video. Mine 11 year old has had different kinds over the years beginning with strict bedtime routines when he was 5. We had no idea what it was at the time, so we definitely fed it with doing/saying all the things he wanted us to do. Our family started eating a low carb paleo diet two years ago, and his ocd became almost nonexistent...until about 3 months ago when life happened and we became lax with our diet. About a month ago, he started repeatedly (3-4 times) coming into our room at night saying “goodnight, love you” to which we would reply with the same. Over the last month, it’s progressively grown into 10 to even upwards of 20 times, which was three nights ago and the straw that broke the camel’s back. We went strict back on diet the next morning, and I’ve been watching all of your videos and sharing with my son. Tonight we plan to set a limit on how many times OCD can talk to us (thinking of starting with 3 and 2 tomorrow night)...then going to only once. Hope we don’t end up in a breakdown. Thanks again for this video!

Update: last night we discussed everything, and he admitted that his “bully” was telling him to not listen. I suggested responding to him 3 times, he counteroffered with 4, to which we agreed (definitely don’t want a meltdown on day 1). Proud to say he fought that bully and only came in 3 times! I anxiously awaited his return for a 4th, but it never happened! So tonight we will allow 3 again, then tomorrow we go to 2 times.

I can schedule Mr. bossy at 5 o’clock. Lol. That’s great. Great example of considering the child’s emotion while still not feeding ocd or helping the child understand that ocd cannot be feed or he grows.

I was sad and lost in my own thoughts on this matter, and I saw your video.. thank you so much, my daughter (5 years and a half) has tics and she recently started to express provocative thoughts (killing, dying, about God, nudity..etc.), she started by saying mom I have a thought in my heart I shouldn't say but I feel the urge to say it, at first I told her to express it to relieve herself and I will explain it to her, but it increased rapidly after that in a shocking way, like the other day I was listening to a verse from my holey book about how people were saying to Noah peace be upon him he is crazy, she was playing in her room next door but could hear it, and suddenly she came to me and said mom I have a big urge in my heart to say that Noah IS crazy and God is crazy, at first I explained to her rationally, but then she came up with more and more!
so I figured out to tell her not to say it and instead to just simply ignore the thought, but it is a great idea if I separate it from her so she doesn't feed it by guilt & fear.
I know this will not sound scientific but I believe it is satanic mind plays only, whether the thoughts are religious or social or about health or any other topic.
Thanks to The Lord and thank you so much.

My daughter has multiple food allergies and lots of anxiety because of that, but I'm wondering if she may have some OCD because she constantly asks for reassurance and she also avoids foods, even safe foods because she thinks she is going to have an allergic reaction. She eats like 10 foods currently. She's in therapy for the anxiety, but it sounds like the avoidance and reassurance may be compulsions. Very interesting...I am loving these videos!

My son will constantly say "I love you Mom" or ask for forgiveness when he thinks hes done something wrong. I gave in for a long time before i realized what it was. I had to explain that I know he loves me and never has to ask for forgiveness and when he asks for reassurance, I look at him and smile. Hoping that's not feeding it! I hate ocd!

This one can be tricky. They could be constantly be exposed to a food sensitivity that makes them feel very sick. In cases like these it’s always a good idea to request an IGg blood test, that’s what saved us.. and then to see a pediatric gastroenterologist AFTER the blood test if they are still sick. If things are all showing up fine after in doing it in that order, then yep it really might just be anxiety/ocd. You’ve probably already checked some things though. Parasite stool sample is another good thing to check.

Makes sense why my little man prefers me. I’m the one always feeding mr. Bossy when his dad doesn’t feed mr. Bossy ever. So I feel like I have to compensate :(

  • @funwithryder1302

Ryder has to always narrate a checklist to do and say deal? And if I don’t say deal, he won’t stop asking. If I don’t follow the checklist, I’m a cheater. But he can not follow my checklist. His checklist rules. And it’s usually based on what’s stimulating him the most in that moment. And if he doesn’t get his reassurance, he has meltdown. I recognize this and I feed into it to support him. His having a chronic illness doesn’t help. I feel also more compassion and less tolerant because I feel bad.

Just within the last month my 4 year old has been worried about germs and asks “what if...” questions ALL day. Sometimes it’s not a question and just him stating “I touched my feet and then my mouth”. I told him he cannot ask me anymore these same questions and now feel bad that I’m not letting him express his concerns. He stopped asking and just states what he did as if he is confessing something and then stated “I’m going to be okay”. I worry for him and tell him how I miss the boy who played with frogs all summer and went around barefoot in the grass.

Our daughter is five, and is beginning to exhibit several OCD traits. Until watching this video I had not realized that there might be another… Several times through the day, she will ask a question (not the same one, usually all different) and end the question with, “ right daddy?” or “right mama?”. Does that qualify?

"What if I have an accident?" (pee herself) She has to adjust her pee pad just perfectly so every night and has to use the bathroom every 30 minutes, sometimes more if we're about to leave the house.
"Nothing feels good!" Almost every day she's getting dressed.
Her chairs, her hair, her clothes, her lotion and lip balm all have to be a certain way. How do I know if this is OCD or just a sensory processing issue?
