@Bill Farley thanks for mentioning that Twilight Zone episode. I found a shortened version of it here on RUclips ruclips.net/video/13tSCEc0Pi0/видео.html. Very entertaining and I agree with you, it is somewhat similar. Wish I could find the entire episode.
That's wild. I wonder if when this was written, if the model train hobby was already popular. Someone doing this today wouldn't cause any notice. In all honesty, some years ago I went through some difficult job tasks and other things. I started building models in my spare time just to take my mind off things. Didn't plan it that way but it was great. After a while I lost interest but things had worked themselves out by then.
@jamesrice6096 great question. At the time the story was written model trains were the most popular toy for boys in the US. Thank you for your comment and for listening!!
I absolutely love PKD, but I have to admit, I really don't get this story. It almost reads like a cathartic release for Mr Dick, but I can't really quite put my finger on what point he was trying to drive home here.
Thank you for your skillful narration of this delightfully satisfying story Scott.
@thunderace4588 you are very kind, thank you. And thank you for listening!!

Oh, and thanks for letting us know you're from Greece! It's always nice to know where are listeners are from. Thank you for your kind words Stavros.
Just stumbled upon this too. So grateful.
If you like PKD check out Vonnegut.
A marvellous story from PKD and brilliantly read! It occurred to me that the protagonist is displaying symptoms of autism or Asperger's Syndrome.
@alexdavies7394 thanks for listening!!
cheers, mate
@ZakStandridge cheers to you! And thanks for listening!!
This story seems like a Twilight Zone episode. In fact, there is an episode called Miniature starring Robert Duvall which is somewhat similar.

@goodwaterhikes You're very welcome! Thanks for listening!!
This is like a twilight Zone episode.
It was that kind of a story wasn't it? I loved the ending!!
It is the story Twilight Zone adapted into one of their episodes.
I absolutely love PKD, but I have to admit, I really don't get this story. It almost reads like a cathartic release for Mr Dick, but I can't really quite put my finger on what point he was trying to drive home here.
Everything he ever wrote was a cathartic release.
@mup_pet Thanks for listening!!
@MisanthropicTimeSlipperz thanks for listening!!
Madge is the worst
Yes she is, but she gets, well I don't want to spoil it. Thanks for listening and commenting!
So...he unemployed himself? 13:00
@MichaelMMiddleton098 I do not understand your question. Thanks for listening!!
An entire mansplaining story 🤣
Well I could explain but then it would be a man splaining the story so that's probably not a good idea!
@@VintageSciFiAudiobooks lol. Explain what? I'd like your thoughts haha
