  • BLACK DIAMOND FLARE HEADLAMP BEST LIGHTWEIGHT HEADLAMP
    IT WEIGHTS AN OUNCE!!!
    amzn.to/3bYPCoe
Getting stuck in the dark can put a damper on your adventure, but with the Black Diamond Flare Headlamp, there's no excuse for leaving home without a headlamp close at hand. It's diminutive size makes it a cinch to stash just about anywhere, from a pants pocket to the zip pocket on your chalk bag. And while its 40 lumen output may not sound like much compared to Black Diamond's other headlamps, it's plenty to get yourself back to civilization in a pinch. It's rugged, waterproof, and runs off of CR2032 batteries, so it can stay stashed for up to a decade and remain ready to rock when the time comes. You'll want something brighter for regular use, but when your day trip turns into an accidental overnighter, you'll be glad to have it tucked away in your bag.

Thanks for the review. I believe red is the first setting to protect your night vision. If you had to twist the switch thru full white light before getting to red your night vision would be compromised right away.

the first twist to red makes a lot of sense. When you need red light in order not to blind yourself and others, a bright flash before the red is something you want to avoid

I like the Petzl eLight. Same weight, price, but better case, brighter a bit, can go red first or white first, and more comfortable headband. Also takes CR2032 batteries. For anyone in market for the BD light, they owe it to themselves to at least compare to the Petzl e+ mini light.

it's worth noting that you can get LIR2032 batteries, rechargable versions of the CR2032.

I wanted a headlamp near the 1 oz mark and when I saw this was on sale, I took it as a sign. I was thinking of getting the nitecore nu25 and night get it later but this is fill that role for now. Really like the simplicity, weight, red light function, headband, etc. And at a smidge over $20, it just made sense to me

I just want a headlamp that weighs less than 1.5oz, red light at least 25 lumens, min 50 lumens white light, and sos strobe. All of these brands miss the mark. If anyone knows of what that fits at the very least weight and lumens criteria, please let me know.

How does that compare to the Peltz E-lite? I think that the first option being red is a great idea especially when using in a tactical environment where you want to preserve your eyesight during night time. Also, as an emergency light, 40 lumens is not bad.

Just bought one. The clincher was the fact that you need two hands to operate it because wait for it. I have two hands, how lucky was that?

This thing doesn't get love from hikers because Black Diamond makes ok stuff but not the best for one. Another reason is that the nitecore of the same size weighs the same and is rechargeable. It's also 360 lumens , not that you need it to be but nice to have the option. Nightcore is also a superior brand in this category so I rather trust nitecore then Black Diamond since Nitecore only specializes in in rechargeable lights unlike black diamond that is one of the big brands in outdoor gear that wants to make everything.

A rechargeable battery will get bad in a few years. Than you can replace your whole light. It is a waiste problem.

@@deKampeerwijzer I've own one for 10 years and still works, not sure what do you mean by a few years. A decade is fine in my book, also you can take it apart and repair yourself as long as you have a minimal understanding of how electricity works. It's 2023, tutorials and videos exist, you can look it up.

I wanted to get this for an edc headlamp but I hate the batteries it’s takes. No one likes watch batteries. If they’re going to use them they should have made it usb rechargeable. Also since it a so called emergency light having something portable battery rechargeable and folding solar panel hiker use rechargeable would have been a lot better. I’m going to have to pass on this one unfortunately. It could have been a great product but I don’t think they’re going to sell very many and this will be discontinued fast due to the crappy non rechargeable watch batteries.
