Great video tutorial!! I am 39 years old, and I have been cutting my hair since I was 13. Mom and pops never had $$ when I was little to take me to the barbershop in a timely manner. I only got a haircut once every 2-3 months.. My hair was crazy wild back then. So I asked for some cheap clippers from walmart for xmas and the rest is history. I agree with ya, the back of my head is always a pain in the ass. I am no professional barber, I can fade real damn good, but I can always improve! I just cut hair for fun and the experience. Never charged for a hair cut in my life. Its totally different from cutting your own hair and cutting someone else’s. So I welcome the experience I get from cutting family member’s and friends hair. Now I have a 6 year old and I love that I get to experience that I need and I enjoy our priceless talks while I cut his hair. I have the andis master and andis fade masters, gtx t-outliner right now. I have my clippers and outliner zero gapped right now. I use “The Rich Barber’s” 1 min blade modifier to sharpen my outliner blade. But I am still not happy with that! Do you have any tips on what outliner is the best in ur opinion? Is the Gold FX really worth it? Do u modify ur outliner blade? Or is the Razor the way to go? Thanks and you have a new subscriber
I never learned barber cuts in my hairdressing training, I've normally only ever just trimmed my boyfriends hair with clippers but he wanted me to try a skin fade this time. We came across this video and he immediately wanted it the same. This was so helpful, I probably paused and played and paused hundreds of times but he was so happy with it and completely shocked I managed a fade, something I'd never done before just from one video. Thank you for this!
I've learned to cut my hair. It was hard at first and don't get me wrong, I've messed up. But you know what? Hair grows back and every 2 weeks you need to cut it. It's all about tools. I started with the Wahl Senior and now I have 2 Magic Clips and a Detailer. Now I can cut my hair better than me trying to explain the barber what I want. (The barber or stylist never gets it right in my area.)
Same here bro. If i have to attend a party on a Sat night. I'll just cut my hair on Thursday and then 2 days of regrowth it'll blend in just right anyway, top tips ;)
Thanks soooo much!!! I started doing my own hair beginning of covid lockdown, and never looked back. But today I decided to utilize all the attachments and make it PERFECT. And boom! Your vid nailed it, and I did it right now. The fades are sweet now. Thank you! 🙏💪
Thank you so much, Sergio. I followed your video as best I could and the result was fantastic. My wife said that it looks better than the way my usual barber cuts it. Thank you again. You did a great job teaching in the video.
Thanks man! You just gave me great pointers! The results came out great with my magic clips with the ceramic blade. I get my double wide 2215 blade for my ac trimmers soon. I've been cutting my hair for 1 year and a half and with your tips I felt like I have just started giving myself better results than some of the 25$ Fades I've gotten! This is awesome!

Here's my cheat sheet for this cut so I don't have to fool around with RUclips while I'm cutting! Thanks Faded Culture. 1. 8 guard open over top of head 2. 1st guideline - No guard, lever closed, temple peak around whole head 3. 2nd guideline - No guard, lever open, finger length above 1st line, temple peak around whole head 4. 3rd guideline - 1 guard, lever open, finger length above 2nd line, temple peak around whole head 5. 2 guard - lever open, sculpt longer hair above 3rd guideline to start blending into top, c-scoop motion to not make hard lines 6. 3 guard - lever open, sculpt longer hair blending into top, straight upwards motion to not make hard lines - only 1/2” higher than last step 7. 4 guard - lever open, connect/blend side length into top of hair, slow straight upwards motions 8. Brush loose hairs away, notice 3 guidelines 9. 1/2 guard - open lever 3/4s, start blending uppermost guideline around whole head, open or close lever as needed 10. 1/2 guard - open lever 3/4s, start blending middle guideline around whole head, open or close lever as needed 11. 1 guard - open lever 3/4s, finish taking out middle guideline 12. No guard - open lever closed, start taking out last guideline, work your way up opening lever as you go (1/2 open, then fully open). Use small, consistent strokes to blend without making hard lines around entire head. Brush away loose hairs. 13. Remove hair below fade - use T clippers to cut a bald hard line below fade around temples, then back of hair. Turn clippers over to blend out the hard line as you go. Don’t set this line in too high! JUST below where the fade ends. 14. Shave rest of hair off with T trimmer around ears, temples, neck. Don’t shave higher than bald line. Finish with shavers to get bald line faded fully. 15. Edge up with T trimmers in front/bangs/temples area. 16. Trim and edge up facial hair, fade beard etc.
Absolutely quality tutorial! I’ve never cut hair in my life I work in construction, but I’ve always been interested in cutting hair and I’m very particular about how mine looks. I bought the wahl 5 star senior cordless during lockdown as the barbers were shut, I only ever did one grade all over though. I watched this tutorial yesterday and followed it step by step, it actually turned out really good and even my girl thought I had been to the barbers! Thankyou for the tutorial your technique is flawless and your talent is out of this world, wish there was a barber on your level where I live but there is no one anywhere near this level. Keep grinding and I wish you all the success the world has to offer 🙏
This was amazing and thank you for another updated self cut! I wish you were in Vegas, i'd go to you and bypass all my self-cuts that are so-so... i love your steps listed in the description. Question: In the listed steps you say to use 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 etc,, is that the 2, 3, 4 halfway open? Again, THANK YOU for helping me and others so much!
For myself, LML! Watched this 10 times already: 1:04 - STEP 1, throw on 8 guard and put the lever all the way down. Run the clipper at the top of the hair to even it out. Go against hair growth pattern. 2:02 - STEP 2, NO GUARD and close the lever (all the way up). Set down guideline number one wherever your fade is gonna start. 2:58 - STEP 3, Open lever all the way (4/4 down), NO GUARD. Start on 2nd guideline. Finger-length of height upwards from last guideline. 3:40 - STEP 4, start on 3rd guideline. PUT ON THE 1 GUARD. Keep lever open. Another finger of length upward. 4:20 - STEP 5. NUMBER 2 GUARD. Sculpting top of hair to the bottom of the hair/blending the guidelines to the top of the hair. 5:03 - STEP 6. NUMBER 3 GUARD. Lever still open. Same step as step 5. Except you sculpt the hair a half inch higher. 5:49 - STEP 7. Number 4 Guard. Lever open. Sculpting up again. But you're connecting the sidelengths with the top of the hair. 6:43 - STEP 8. 1 ½ clip. 3/4 down lever. fade top guideline. Use teeth of clipper to settle in the fade. 7:48 - STEP 9. ½ GUARD. 3/4 down lever. Small consistent strokes. Work on middle guideline. 8:47 - STEP 10. 1 GUARD. 3/4 down lever. Work on middle guideline and lower middle guideline. 9:42 - STEP 11. LEVER CLOSED. Small consistent strokes. Go from closed to 3/4 and then 1/2 to take out the last guideline.

I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair for a couple months and there are not many good in depth videos to learn off. This video is the best and has taught me how to give the best fades. Thank you for taking it slow and giving so many tips ❤
U a real one I remember when I use have my mom cut my hair and she was inconsistent there were days she had the magic hands and there were days she would fuck my shit up but it’s all good
I am glad I found you guys! I have been cutting my own hair since a bit before Quarantine. Actually started when I kept taking my 6 year old at the time to a kids barber. She literally took less than 7 minutes to cut his hair and charged us $30 plus tip. I tip really good FYI. She started to get sloppy and I said I'm done. I'm going to do it myself. I started off bad but started to get better. Saw countless videos and they helped. But this one here tops them all. Especially since I also started to cut my own hair. My fade came out clean! Thx man
Dope tutorial. I cut my own hair as I've yet to find a barber in my area that can provide a decent taper blend. I've given myself fades in the past but I have 360 waves now. The details that you provide in this self cut as well as doing it is a game changer. With the right tools and patients people can do this.
I tried your process and it worked really good, with quarantine I didn’t feel comfortable going to a barber shop. You made it extremely easy to cut my own hair. I didn’t actually think I would be cutting my hair let alone fading it barber status!! Thanks man!!!
@@FADEDCULTURE i was just kidding with this comment. I wanna make you laugh a bit. I don't even have a clipper, I wish I could get one from you with you signature.
Great tutorial! 1 Question: when you use the trimmer to remove the remaining hair, you just remove it up to the first line, right? So the line you removed last with the clippers closed?
I love the part when you're going around to the back of your head and you turn the clippers the wrong way first. I've been cutting my own hair for years now and I still do that every time. I haven't been brave enough to do a skin fade, but I'm going to try it now and I'll let you know how it turns out.
I’ve been cutting hair now for 3 years thanks to these videos it’s made me a better barber, all the mandem lookin fresh 🔥 for anyone who’s starting out I highly recommend studying these videos and cutting your own hair will seem difficult at first but every attempt is one step closer to being easy ❤
I've been cutting my own hair for the past 12 years. My advice is don't be afraid to mess up. It takes a while to get used to the motion, to learn the clips, and most importantly the shape of your head. If you mess up just cut everything short. It takes about 2 weeks and your hair will be long enough to practice all over again.
Just tried cutting my own hair. Minute 1-15: okay sides are lined up now Minute 15-30: how tf do i even move my arm to cut on the back??? Minute 30-60: *mental breakdown as the backside feels impossible* Minute 60-90: okayyyy this side is looking kinda clean, pretty decent fade Minute 90-120: weyy this side also looks dope let me compare it real qui…… WTF WENT WRONG Minute 120+ : currently shaving entire head after trying to fix the most uneven lineups ever by only making it worse🫠 10/10 would watch this video and try again😂
Just tried this at home. Been cutting my own hair for about 3 months now. I watched one RUclips video and been doing it that way ever since. This morning I came across this video and my fade is 100% better than before. I was starting at the top before and moving down. This is way way better
Dope! Cut my own hair and it took me a little time to learn the process. Once you learn the process the tweaking brings the magic. Be gentle because you can always go back cut what you don’t need.
Eh I use to cut people's hair awesome. I'm the only one that's cut mine in many years... Ur better off doing a 3-5 all over. Fading the back of ur own head is ugly. Awesome video boss I'm just throwing a opinion out
I've gotten better cutting my own hair and fading it. After a few times of cutting you get accustomed to the way you need to maneuver the clipper. Soon I'll be able to try other hair styles for myself, but for now I'm good with a normal fade.
Deffinitly understandable but kits are fairly inexpensive & if you want to save money in the long run, learning these steps and using the right tool can help.

9. 1/2 guard - open lever 3/4s, start blending uppermost guideline around whole head, open or close lever as needed
10. 1/2 guard - open lever 3/4s, start blending middle guideline around whole head, open or close lever as needed
11. 1 guard - open lever 3/4s, finish taking out middle guideline
Man I cut my own hair today and it’s way better than I thought it would be. Thanks for the tutorial and the visual.
Nice 💪🏽
What the fuck a 3 quarter
There is only two words for this...fucking awesome! 🔥
Thank you glad you like it! And the .5 means any guard with the lever all the way open.
no, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 is with the lever all the way open, the lever open adds .5 to the guard length
if you leave the lever halfway open, it’ll be shorter than completely open
For myself, LML! Watched this 10 times already:
1:04 - STEP 1, throw on 8 guard and put the lever all the way down.
On point!!!!!!! Also have them in description brotha!
THE BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOU AND ME IS THAT YOU ARE AN ARTIST JIJIJII
I try too hard sometimes, but thank you!!
I also cut my own hair but atm my hair on top is a 4 when it grows to an 8 I’m for sure doing this cut
U must've ended up getting bald
SERGIO MY MAN DO YOU EVER LET AARON CUT YOUR HAIR? 💥🔥🔥💥👊👌👏👏👏
Forget about self haircut, self tattoo is where it's at.
I can't for the life of me reach behind my head like that lolol
Can someone confirm if this still works in 2022?
yes it does
@@FADEDCULTURE yeah tried it last week I can’t blend the lines I made it. And my head has stripes the top was good looking good tho just the lines doesn’t seem to fade.
Bro thank you I just cut my hair and it came out pretty clean !
Love to hear that bro!! thank you for tuning in!
Watched this so many times. Everything so fresh about the cut and the neck ink too🔥🔥
Nothing like a man that knows how to groom himself. 🥵😍👏🏼
Chill out
I performed my very first self haircut to this now I’m bald 🔥
Guys I can barely see the guard numbers in the videos, if u can include that on u videos. Would be flawless
All the steps are located in the comments..
best self cut tutorial always, please try to cut with Self-Cut System tool and make a reveiw with the product soon
Muy duro hermano llevo 6 años asiendo mi corte yo mismo muy buen video 💪🏼🔥
I have been fading my own hair since the 90s. It just takes practice. After a while I started doing razor fades on myself. Good video 👍
It does take practice and most get discouraged quick but if you stick with it you’ll get better
Thank you for this video, after a couple of tries, i finally gave myself my best self fade combover to date. Yea it took me over 3 hours but hey, i saved $45 haha
Aye bro what is the band of Clippers you are using ?? Your video helped out a lot❤️🔥💯💯💯
Thx man
REPENT JESUS IS COMING SOON
1.3 million views X $30=39,000,000
Mission success thanks for the vid!
Dope tutorial. I cut my own hair as I've yet to find a barber in my area that can provide a decent taper blend. I've given myself fades in the past but I have 360 waves now. The details that you provide in this self cut as well as doing it is a game changer. With the right tools and patients people can do this.
Thanks bro!!
Man your steps are amazing, just cut myself up and feels like i been doin it wrong for years. Big ups to you my guy!!🎯💯🔥
I tried your process and it worked really good, with quarantine I didn’t feel comfortable going to a barber shop. You made it extremely easy to cut my own hair. I didn’t actually think I would be cutting my hair let alone fading it barber status!! Thanks man!!!
Quarantine brought me here, I miss my barbers... Everything still locked down in my country 😓
Which country bro
Thanks for the tutorial, I tried this and now I'm bald.
Great job! lol jk but I mean that's what it takes, just focus on improving a thing at a time till it becomes second nature.
I’m removing it up to where I had flipped the trimmers upside down basically the top of the remaining hair if that makes sense
Thank you for this tutorial. There’s a lot of detail in this so it’s def gonna take a lot of time and practice lol
I love the part when you're going around to the back of your head and you turn the clippers the wrong way first. I've been cutting my own hair for years now and I still do that every time. I haven't been brave enough to do a skin fade, but I'm going to try it now and I'll let you know how it turns out.
How did it turn out ?
this guy is a master in self-fade haircut!
My clipper doesn't even have a lever... Is it still usable for a cut like this?
Perfect, this is the best self hair cut I have ever seen on RUclips, Thanks Bro. Happy new year from Egypt 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you 🙏🏽 much love 🖤
This self haircut is way better than what I get at my local barbershop. Thanks for the tutorial.
Minute 1-15: okay sides are lined up now
Minute 15-30: how tf do i even move my arm to cut on the back???
Minute 30-60: *mental breakdown as the backside feels impossible*
Minute 60-90: okayyyy this side is looking kinda clean, pretty decent fade
Minute 90-120: weyy this side also looks dope let me compare it real qui…… WTF WENT WRONG
Minute 120+ : currently shaving entire head after trying to fix the most uneven lineups ever by only making it worse🫠
10/10 would watch this video and try again😂
lol
Just tried this at home. Been cutting my own hair for about 3 months now. I watched one RUclips video and been doing it that way ever since. This morning I came across this video and my fade is 100% better than before. I was starting at the top before and moving down. This is way way better
💪🏽
What clipper blades you running on your serkur clippers?
This is not a haircut this is art

Yeah, I'd rather pay someone to do it. Great vid though
NEVER SEE THIS TYPE CUTTING IN WHOLE PAKISTAN 😮
Dope! Cut my own hair and it took me a little time to learn the process. Once you learn the process the tweaking brings the magic. Be gentle because you can always go back cut what you don’t need.
Kurdistan geve you like 🇹🇯🇹🇯🇹🇯🇹🇯🇹🇯🇹🇯
🏴🏴🏴🏴
Bro I watched this video about a week after you uploaded it… I’ve been cutting my own skinfades every 2 weeks ever since. Cheers man
Shit I fucked up lol
lol wait til next week and retry!
But you good haircut to your self...
Eh I use to cut people's hair awesome. I'm the only one that's cut mine in many years... Ur better off doing a 3-5 all over. Fading the back of ur own head is ugly. Awesome video boss I'm just throwing a opinion out
We appreciate your opinion brotha!
Thanks for the info! I just took delivery of these clippers, which only cost $29.95 on Amazon. it appears that they are pre-charged.
Yessir that's why I love and use them religiously!! let me know how they hold up.. Thank you!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I cut the hair myself even though I paid only 7USD in my country, if I was living the US that would be the first thing I'll teach to my kids.
good call brotha
Respect
And love 🏴🏴🏴
NiCe Fade.. 👍👌💈💕
Thank you! 🖤
Thank you for the tutorial. Bald now
I've gotten better cutting my own hair and fading it. After a few times of cutting you get accustomed to the way you need to maneuver the clipper. Soon I'll be able to try other hair styles for myself, but for now I'm good with a normal fade.
That’s dope I’m happy to hear so!
Your intro's are funny but you cut hair nicely
It's a good video..but for a common people it wouldn't work..they wouldn't buy so many stuffs
Deffinitly understandable but kits are fairly inexpensive & if you want to save money in the long run, learning these steps and using the right tool can help.
Can you show how 2 do selfcut low fade ..iam struggling with that iam from Brussel. (Belghuïm)
I got you ...coming soon
Hello Nice vidéo i try but i have à problem i have blond hair and i dont see my firsts guidelines do you have maybe à tips for peopel Who have light hair ?
