She is NOT becoming a "villain" ... she is merely becoming a SCARED HUMAN-THINKING being, with Powers beyond Human (else she would have died through the bullet by the guy already, eg.). And she keeps going to protect her family and herself from harm.

    • @fatmaisktekbas3503

It does not sound evil, it sounds violent. She is confused, scared and evolving at a pace she cannot mentally keep up with. She has superhuman powers, increased learning capability and knowledge... but up until this point she was just a robot. Now she's starting to become human, and she lacks experience. She lacks guidance.
This is the same mistakes most Superheroes make when judging good from evil. Those you deem ''Evil'' may have a more solid reasoning than you ever had. She did not know how to solve the conflict passively, she resorted to violence due to time constraints and the reaper's aggressive acts. You wouldn't just sit there and watch your daughter get stabbed through the chest if YOU had superpowers... would you?
She just acted on her programming as a mother. Protect her children, protect her family. Did she choose the passive route? No. But if put in her shoes, with your thought pattern evolving at a rapid, unhealthy rate and being in distress from your family's uncertain situation... would you, then and there, made the right decision at the right moment? Neither of us knows, because that scenario didn't play out.
TL;DR: She is not evil, she is a scared human with superpowers. All humans feel fear, because it prevents us from touching what burns us. But, fear of the unknown also causes discrimination and infighting amongst us. You cannot stereotype her as a villain for being human, because you yourself would be a villain if you had done so.

Kryptonian Excellence spoken, from a point of view that is literally "not in her shoes"!
Do you have children? Are you female?
      Do you have super powers?
Are you an android, who actually just gained life and starts to experience how humans REALLY ARE?
Humans are compassionate and social. BUT they are also crucial, violent and judgemental.
AND humans just like every other animal as well, tend to violence, when endangered, threatened or feared.
Good and evil are just vague HUMAN definitions to cope with something even more vaguely defined: life.
      Greetz.

The road to villainy is paved with good intentions. Everyone is a hero is their own story. It's whomever is still standing and has the power that will determine how the rest will carry on with the story. The most common way that a villain is depicted different from a hero is that a hero will still value lives despite the acts commited by the individual. We can go into the moral dilemma of does the ends justify the means. From what we know so far, She takes no responsibility for her actions instead justifies it as a means for self-preservation. What's done is done, but what she did afterwards took some thought.

WOW what an interesting take on Vision, you think things are so simple as an "android." That couldn't be further from the truth in the quest to become more human, reminds me of some of the episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation with Data.

I can't say I see Ms. Vision as a Villon or even leaning towards villony. She Killed someone to save her son. From a murderer. After said murderer swept through his daughter hurting her badly. Confronting a blackmailer? Good, how it turned out with his son and her reaction to it? Bad. But ultimitly understandable. Bad things, good people something something something...
I honestly feel I would have done the exact same in her shoes. Protecting me and my own.

It brings up an interesting topic tho right? I mean, I feel like killing someone else brings more weight when the subject that's taken a life is or appears to be not human or possessing some sort of superhuman abilities. And I believe this is in part due to fear. Such as with superhuman vigilantes, robots, heck even regular humans who possess weapons that are highly deadly there's a borderline fear of them, which skews our perspective of their acts more towards villainy if not blatantly villainous.
But more so with robots and superpowered vigilantes, these are figures we might feel empathy for because we humanize them right? We see human features or ideologies that we relate to or they express some sort of dialogue socially with the public sphere that we on an individually level have had internally such as with the topic of "justice". However, at the same time, because they possess these traits that give them physical advantages over a human, albeit a defenseless human, there's a line I think we create when we see them take a life with these abilities out of our fear of what they could do if they decided not to use their powers for defense or if for some reason you ended in an altercation with them.
I believe Vision might have been right in saying humans can't hate what they do not know, but they can fear it. And fear often leads to hate, because what we fear, we view as antagonist toward us.

The fact that she didn't kill the kid means she was probably only there to get him to leave her family alone. It's technically the guy who shot his son, he was just placing blaim onto someone else. He pulled the trigger you can't blame her for phasing though the bullet.

    • @Herotas07
      @Herotas07 8 лет назад +22

Nfinite-BarZ Of course it makes sense but that's the whole point. Vision wants his family to be as "normal" as it is possible. He wants his kids to go to normal school with normal people and not mutants. He wants to be an ordinary person while he should know that he cannot be one, he and his family are extraordinary, they are uncanny, they are different than rest of the world but Vision wants to create an illusion, mainly for himself, that he can be as human as possible.

    • @jamespickering1169

      true, didn't think of that

    • @mattw940
      @mattw940 8 лет назад +4

Sadly some "normal people" end up doing some seriously messed up ship thinking it is perfectly normal which leads me to conclude one can not be "normal" because their appears to be next to no completely honest example of exactly what that entails, it is completely subjective as most form their own ideas about the concept based on what they themselves have experienced of the world around them.
As long your "normal" is not resulting in hurting anyone then it doesn't really matter what that entails does it?

This is a tragedy. Vision sees that there is turmoil within his family, but he is too distanced from them to understand why. He wants to have a happy family, but he does not really know what a happy family is. This reflects the state of many families, where one parent supports their family, cares for every member, but is not normally there for their everyday troubles.

Aloha! Love your content so far, definitely helps point me in the right direction in this mix bag of a comic book season. Wanted to ask a bit of a complicated question. I know that Marvel seems to be doing it deliberately, but some stories seem to be taking place latter down the timeline despite the fact that previous story arcs haven't finished. Was wondering if you could do a sort of speculation video on where the various series take place on the timeline, especially in relation to each other. For example right of the top of my head, when in the timeline does Viv join up with the Champions in the timeline of this current Vision series?

wanda was looked down upon for creating the twins, and he rejected them by the basis that they weren’t real kids. so you do the same thing she did and suddenly it’s okay? The whole vision family sits w me as well as the Magneto Family Retcon does and that’s not a good thing

One very important thing Rob misses is the Everbloom's power comes from Chthon, whose mystic energies flow out from his pocket dimension into Wundagore mountain.
Strange saying Chaos Magic does not exist is utter nonsense as as well as Wanda, Chthon and Shuma Gorath use it, and Strange himself used a diluted vanilla version of it. An infamous example of Bendis ignoring continuity.
Also, Ebony, Agatha's cat or "familiar", can transform into a Panther itself, Agatha does not "transform" it.

Is there a Volume 2, or a fallow up ? Because this seams really interesting, to the point that a (preferably) cartoon miniseries could be made of it. Because Cartoons Allow The Characters to do what ever the narative Needs, unlike live action which are limited by the human body :), Plus it would be much cheeper then all the CGI needed for a proper Vision Family.

I first heard about the Vision's family when Viv Vision appeared in The Champions. And I loved that (No spoilers) last panel in issue 2! I like all the legacy heroes. Viv and Amodeus/Hulk, X-23/Wolverine, Lady Thor, Milo/Spidey, Falcon/Cap, and even the upcoming Ironheart/Iron Man looks cool. I'd rather see these blank slate characters explored than read about the originals going through the same cycles over and over or Young Avengers, Avengers Academy, Generation X, Young X-Men, Young Allies, all seem to have faded away with only a few survivors like Sunspot. Thanks for the video. You filled me in on Viv's backstory very nicely, and I am adding Champions to the few Marvels I still read.

I fell into the Marvel fandom via the MCU and am now getting more and more into the comics. Vision quickly became one of my favorite characters, especially after reading Avengers AI. I adore both MCU and comic Vision to pieces and that's why I both love and hate this story. I hate it because it's hard to watch one of your favorites go through so much turmoil when you're use to them being written more "a bit stoic but quite adorkable". And it's hard to watch all of this happening. I love it because it's an amazing, compelling story and I'm completely addicted. I hope there is redemption in the end for him and his family.

Before this story I thought the Vision was a boring character. I had a buddy force me to read the first issue and god it's amazing. Definitely the best story being told by Marvel right now

Hi Rob! At 5:50~ in when you are talking about the kind vs nice thing, you mixed up who said what. His wife said they seemed "kind" and Vision said "nice" would be better. Thanks for the video, I'm more of a DC fan but the writing in this one was really good!

You do realize that the reason The Grim Reaper is calling them fakes and frauds, etc. is because he is Simon Williams brother. True the Reaper was a villain but he still had fraternal feelings for Simon aka Wonder Man.

The initial choices made by Virginia were a result of protecting her children although retaliatory. And the lying isn't the path to villainy - it is the path to humanity.
What has happened to Vision is that he has created beings that don't have his experience and he has been absent in their development.
It is a great twist on some Outer Limits themes and Asimov's books. Virginia very much depicts the conflict discussed in I Robot, and the book shows the ugliness of humanity in face of something new.
Its good sci-fi beyond heroes and villains.
They were touching on this with the first run of Machine Man.

Rob, I, too didn't think I would like this story cause me. personally always seen The Vision as a "background character" with a cool name, "The Vision." ANY character whose name composes "The" in it to describe them catches my attention in some way, even if it's on a small scale. But this Rob was indeed a great story! I watched it through my phone while on my exercise bike and could NOT put it down! this is original and has the potential to go to the right OR to the left, in a good way as far as storytelling. keep us posted on this bro, oh and one thing, can you please do a video on Alpha Flight? thanks Rob. I've been asking you on almost every comment I posted, lol. 😁

My favorite title, such a pity it's ended. I loved the story telling set-up the most. Things that seem trivial become major plots later. King also does it in Batman beautifully.

This is a beeeautiful, beautiful social-commentary I must admit in the vein of movies like "American Beauty". Especially in the current times of western society where the status quo of the "nuclear family" stereotype has been broken down and now we're struggling to redefine what the status quo of the Western family is or should be, what does that image look like if should even be defined at all now. This is a brilliant narrative that I feel would make an amazing movie or some sort of popular narrative.
With that being said, this story was very creepy and could have a horror aesthetic applied to it very easily. But maybe that's part of the social commentary right? The state in which our societal view of family is in disarray and filled with the fears and shadows of aspects because we've viewed them as profane and have tried to suffocate the alternate perspectives to our stereotypical *nuclear family* stereotype under so much weight, so much silence, that now that they've come to light it's horrific to those of us who tried to only see the normalcy we'd shoved it under.

I know this arc is old, but a video on Hickman's Secret Warriors would be dope. I think folks who havent read it, but watch Agents of Shield/Agent Carter would get a kick out of it. Esp since it goes deep into explaining how raw Leviathan was..
