The official Williams promo video for Stargate from 1981. I'll be honest, I didn't even know they were making promo video this far back - this is quite the find!
This is fantastic! I can't believe they even go through the game diagnostics. I own one of these, my all time favorite arcade game, but had no idea they made a promo video like this!
@@bubezleeb In Stargate, you are pressing many buttons and a joystick at the same time. You fire when you need to or some people fire almost constantly. Pressing both buttons on and off at the same time is NOT how it is done. Asteroids is the same, you are thrusting to move around and firing at asteroids as needed. Yes, I could roll an Asteroids machine back in the day and I am a Master of Defender and Stargate. I do own one Defender, two Stargates and an Asteroids machine. (original arcade machines). I think you may have missed how she was pressing the buttons and what drarchivist was talking about on the video. She clearly has spent hardly any time playing the game, (She is very cute, why did no one show her the basics?). But I think there was a misunderstanding. Thumbs up to you!
If you got a PS4 or PS5 you should check out Resogun. Came out 2 weeks after the PS4 launch in 2013. Totally reminded me of Defender and Stargate with upgraded graphics and sound.
fantastic advert. Unfortunately our local arcade didn't really draw in gorgeous girls for this game in Stockport UK. Sad. As good as it is. I love this game and Robotron. I remember the girls waited outside - till they got bored...hey - did THEY miss out...lol
This guy knows how to make the greatest game ever sound cheesy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a girl play Stargate in the day. Sounds too good to be true. Hotties playing Stargate.
That's true actually. It was nice to see this vintage advert but I'm glad I didn't see it at the time. No introduction was needed, we figured it out for ourselves pretty quickly. He makes it sound like a board game or something.
the best game ever, but for sure not relaxing. current fps may be are sometimes relaxing, leaving you the time to organize your tactics , but stargate not at all, just shoot and try to survive as long as possible...

It’s actually a pretty reasonable tactic for both Stargate and Defender. (Asteroids too in higher levels.) Move through the targets, not around them.

We had a Williams 'Defender' in our local arcade in Lincoln, UK around 1986 . . . great times.
I played that til I mastered it, loved that game.
Me2, was easier than Defender. We disabled the inviso button, was a much better game.
I was so bad at this game I didn't know about half these features.
For a beginner you need two players. One on up/down/reverse and the other on thrust and fire.
