Yeah Ricky, I agree. It's brilliant. "For you and me we understood".

There are so many Dan songs that fit here, it's ridiculous. Speaking of which, I almost don't like it when Justin does Steely Dan songs, because I know I'm going to have to go down the rabbit hole and spend hours listening to their songs.

Steely Dan just gets better and better. Their lyrics are so deep and tell such sophisticated stories. Their groove is infectious as well.

Clever lyrics and a beautiful melody accompanying great musicianship define this song. A very underrated track and one of my favourites amongst many.

My favorite Dan track. The melody and syncopation of the horn section is just soo badass. I just sing: da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da anytime life requires it. Which is a lot honestly. Thanks to the Dan.

A great track, and as already stated, smooth as silk. And this LP, as i've said before, my all time fave 'Dan' album. Bit of a slow burner this one JP. You started it about 4yrs ago, and we're not even half way through 🙂 But as the man said, Good things come to he who waits'. And FYI our american cousins, it wasn't Abe Lincoln, it was an English guy who coined it some 300 yrs prior. Who said music review channels can't be educational, haha.

You can't go wrong with Steely Dan. All of their albums are great. Countdown to Ecstasy, Pretzel Logic, Katy Lied. They're all amazing.

This is a great Steely Dan song off one of their best albums, The Royal Scam. The group had a great funk influence on this album.

I also had some technical difficulties but luckily they untangled themselves with my help. Nuff said, Steely Dan got me calmed down and grooving, just what I needed, and so many others. Be well everyone.

They assemble a diverse collection of musicians and craft their vision of what is possible beyond most people's wildest dreams. Edgar Winter Group to Poco......Toto, before they were......How the heck did they pull Timothy B. Schmit into the mix so brilliantly?

'Ole Audiophile to JP: Now you got me nervous about your 2nd copywrite infringement notification. There are some pretty fierce protectors of Steely Dan material, especially when it eventually involves the families of deceased artists. I don't know anything because I'm just the cook but a guy can just worry, can't he? I'm not sure picking the more obscure tracks will work but I guess it's worth a try. I hope you got your lawyer hat on this early in the morning pal. Concerned in Northeastern Ohio cares...

As my wife streams Bates Motel, she pops out of her room & mentions Norman's mother just stated she's born & raised in Akron, Ohio. Small world getting suddenly smaller. The classic motion picture featuring Jimmy Stewart titled 'Harvey' has a lot to say about my home town as well/thanx.

Great song. But I got a little bit distracted wondering what a _demeure_ is. (My guess is it sounds like "de myrrh" but that didn't help as much as something called Reverso).
"Waking up to the sound of Steely Dan at the start of the day is like letting the sunshine into your home." That's my rough translation of the French comment to your reaction (which I suppose you've already copied and pasted to Google Translate, and can correct already.)
And yes, that's pretty spot on. (My neighbours would kill me if I woke up to the sound of anything, because I tend to wake up earlier than they do, so in my case it would seque into something involving my blood smeared all over the floor where the body was dragged. I exaggerate, but being given hard looks by people doesn't make for much of a story.)
Hmm ... I know someone who has just moved to a rural area where there's no piped water, and the toilet is a long drop, who's happy she's there, now, because at last she can rest at night because there's no crime there. But that story gets a bit too close to being literal to fit nicely either. (The place she moved from is basically ruled by gangsters. Cops are too scared to go in there. Lay a complaint and the only part of the job they do is the paperwork.)
Hmm ... ja, and if those same gangsters tried their tricks in the place she's now in, the chief's men would deal with them, and the cops would be too scared to get involved afterwards. Some kinds of violence are better than others if you don't have the option of proper peace.
Damn, that went far away from letting in the sunshine, didn't it?
Hang on, I think I can make amends. A guitarist I follow at times is promoting the album of his favourite students, and their music fits the "let the sunshine in" quite beautifully, if you weren't now in the mood for more disintegration and chaos.
