If you notice, the video shows people of different regions (desert, northern hilly region, tropical regions of South India, all in regional traditional clothing) coming together at the end. Basically it celebrates India's unified diversity.

Naturally it has been an important inclusion in all of our republic and independence day celebrations....but when I heard it now , I was hit with so much of nostalgia...we have all grown with this song....hearing it in every republic day at home when I was still a kid !
