Thanks for clarifying what the Air Clean filter is intended for. I was confused about this when I opened up a new box of Miele bags for my U1. Definitely prefer the hepa filter .
Thank you so much!!! We were sitting outside the appliance store ocerwhelmed with what to do, this video helped us figure out we can put a hepa filter in the vacuum we love!!! Very much appreciated!
Thank you very much for this helpful video. I did something stupid, used my Miele C3 when sanding plaster AND using after market, non-genuine dustbags. The plaster dust got into every little crevice and I had to do a complete tear down of the C3, blow the dust out, wash the parts and put it back together. It's surprisingly easy to maintain this vacuum cleaner, very pleasantly surprised. Same screw length used throughout the vacuum cleaner, easy disassembly and easy replacing everything that needs replacing. I bet even my mu could do it. I incidentally used a T15 torx screwdriver, which also fits the T20 screws. Perhaps a tip for people doing the same, make sure you blow out the screw holes with a straw or pressurized air. It prevents rust screws later on.
Awesome channel, thanks again for the helpful content, much appreciated.
Some retail outlets try to pass off HyClean bags to those of us in the US when they're clearly not for our machines. Was hoping you'd mention that here. I returned a package of HyClean bags, telling them that I specifically selected the Air Clean bags. Thank you for this video.
Nothing wrong with the Hyclean bags that are currently on the market. That statement was an agreement that was reached between Miele and the dealers to counter online sales.
Thank you for your great explanation. I have a Complete C3 with ActiveAirClean 50 EPA filter. Seeing on your video that budget models have just the simple air clean filter with a simple grille + white sheet of filter, is it ok for me to replace my pricier EPA filter with this budget version? I don't need an elaborate oder filtration anymore.
Thank you so much! Best vacuum I have ever owned, and I have been through a lot of them.
My Miele Complete C3 shows the bag gage as somewhat full whenever I turn it on and use the hard floor level of power. Is this normal?
You sir have amazing content that is easy to digest and is extremely helpful for people like myself to make informed decisions. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the video! Can I use an "air clean" filter as the "motor protection" filter if I cut it properly? It's the only one I have curently. Thanks!
No that's only for the exhaust. Using it as an intake filter will restrict airflow.
@@PerformanceReviews thanks for explaining that!
What a nice looking Miele Jasper. I have a C2 Compact. Always resit the bag after opening the lid, but sometimes I get odd bits in the chamber like cat litter or a bit of sand. Is it normal? Does the strip on the filter count only when the vacuum is on?
Great review! I have 30 very messy caged Parakeets in my Kitchen Nook area (only place w/o carpets). Their dander, feathers, and seed spillage is a daily chore, not to mention their ongoing bowl movements. My floored kitchen nook is always a mess, no matter how much I clean. Right now, for last 5 years, I have used a ShopVac and Kirby Attachments to clean their mess.
I also steam clean my carpets a lot with a Hoover. My returned water is always so dirty, and lots of seeds and dander that my Kirby Vacuum didn't suck up off carpets. So I fear the KIRBY just can't keep up anymore. (It's not old, just bought June 2020.)
Just heard about Miele on RUclips, and I am interested in them. Just wondering which one suits me. I either want C2 or C3 with Carpet LED roller attachment. Do I really need Brilliant? Can I be happy with C3 Soft Carpet? What do you think? Brigitte in Tulsa Oklahoma Age 65.
Hey Brigitte from my experience they all have similar suction. If you don't need a fancy new vacuum I'd try and find a used miele as they last decades. I've bought two miele for under 200 each and love them.
The only problem I have is I bought a suction-only model. I am selling it to buy a power line C3 model. We still have two carpeted rooms and the Turbo head works “okay”, but the electro head is a better choice for us. Still a great vacuum.
What happened to the Miele hepa filter that had charcoal in it? I can’t seem to find anything like that. Called Miele and the said their hepa filters have charcoal just don’t advertise is. Can you corroborate this?
7:15 Miele C3 manual said that the "standard floorhead" attachment should be attached, not no attachments at all. However, my unit's indicator seems to always show ~50% orange even with a brand new bag.
Same 'issue' here, brand new & empty bag, yet half full according to the indicator.
Will one day you make a diagnosis video for an inoperative Miele showing electrical testing procedures for the components of the canister? Knowing the resistance values of a known good motor and power flow tracing the electrical path would be valuable.
Thanks for the info. I have a white Hepa filter 50. Does the red timeline line appear automatically after 50 hrs? Or do you have to activate it initially by pressing the green arrow ( as another utube guy said). I've had mine for 13 mths, but there's nothing happening with that indicator line. Hoping you can clear this up for me. Thanks.
You have to activate it by pressing the button. If you had yours for 13 months it's time to change it typically people change them every 12 months.
@@PerformanceReviews Thank you. I have pressed the button and now the red line is showing about one third. It gets used on timber floors for approx 30 mins a week. Do I need to change it or wait until the red line fills up? Thank you.
I have an old S380. I want to change the pad filter that the machine came with to the AA30 but I can't see how. The black cage part can't be taken out. Can you help? Thank you from the UK.
@Bossche Bol Hepa is to help with fine dust and allegens whereas the other helps with unpleasant odours such as pet odours. My cage part appears to be attached to the vacuum and I haven't got round to contacting Miele customer servive yet. I doubt they will help to be honest as I queried the difference in their GN bags re shape of the blue plastic. The advisor suggested I only purchase from their website...yeah at top whack prices...as the other could be fake. Transpires they have updated the bags, so not fake at all! I'm still using the pad filter.
Does the direction of the pre-motor filter matter? One side is fuzzy and the other is more smooth. I’ve seen them inserted both ways.
The pre-motor filter is identical on both sides. The post-mortar filter is slightly different on each side. It really doesn't make a huge difference as long as you're using the genuine product.
@@PerformanceReviews thanks! Does a newer hepa filter cartridge work instead of the thin air clean one on an old S444i?
I have an old S 291 and just now I can’t open the large filter cover to replace the filter. I fear if I try harder I will break the plastic. Any suggestions please?
Got it now, have to open the dust bag compartment and the cage lifts off by itself. Grrr.
Nice video. Will you make a video on the best way to making vacuum smell nice without damaging your machine.
Thanks for watching Rick . I think I already made that video. 😁

I wish Miele USA would have a straight suction C2 Compact available. Since we only have the Electro Plus.
Have you watched the Miele Byers guide video? I touch on that subject.
ruclips.net/video/whyDx0ChTcA/видео.html
They have one now. I own it.
Will you be doing a review of the Lupe??
I talk about that in detail at the end of this video.

Thanks, very helpful 😊
Do you know when the first hepa bag was invented?

@@PerformanceReviews thank you
My Miele is less than a year old and the dirt rarely goes into the bag. The cannister fills up with dirt instead. I have made sure I have inserted the badge correctly and click it on but OMG it just won't go into the bag! Pretty poor experience I've had since buying.
Bring it to a local dealer. You have done something wrong
That thing where the bag comes out slightly when you open…how is that not a major design flaw? I now have a wasted bag and filters, and have to take my relatively brand new vacuum to get repaired all at my expense because of this.
You're only supposed to open it when you change the bag. it's convenient to have the bag come out to make it easier for you to change.
@@PerformanceReviews this is a massive flaw from a user experience perspective. Would it make sense if every time you opened the hood of your car, the oil filter slightly loosened?
Anyway thank you for the informative video. I'll be taking my vacuum in to a service partner soon. I called and they confirmed that this is a common issue, yet Miele doesn't offer to cover it at all. So I'll be paying for this, plus spending a Saturday driving over an our to bring it to and from the shop.
I guess I should have gotten the Dyson.
