I'm only riding a Chisel Comp since a month, but last statement is 💯 true! The best part of this bike is invisible, and that's the ride, ascending and descending.

i have this bike since june 2022, i have changed the handlebar with a swork rise, an entire sram gx eagle group , you need to change the bottom bracket to a dub , changed the brake to a pair of magura mt8 sl , ESI grips, shimano xtr pedals, a pair of specialized renegade tire with tan color in tubeless and for december a rockshoks sid sl fork and a dropper post in january and evantually a swork saddle power and a pair of roval control sl carbone and this bike will be done !

Nice review of the Chisel. Could definitely one of the best alloy bikes now in the market. Been using it for 3 years and no problem or whatsoever, changed to xt groupset and that's it. Thanks for sharing this video.

I have a 2021 Chisel comp that I like a lot. Mine came with 12 speed Deore and Shimano brakes. I upgraded to a Reba fork that was nearly 3/4 pound lighter and added a Fox Transfer dropper post with PNW lever. This is a sweet hardtail that works great on my local Minnesota trails. Cheers!

Nice bro, on my BMC twostroke I have a Reba with a one up dropper and wolf tooth lever and much more upgrades, my bike is 24 pounds, Reba is a great fork and a Sid isn’t necessary.

The carve was my first MTB back in the day. I switched to an enduro style bike long ago, but part of me wants to buy a simple aluminium hardtail like this for old times sakes.

Let me tell you, i went back and forth between this and the Stumpjumper.
I came across a new 2021 Chisel in my local bike shop.
I snatched it up for $1,600.
    I made the right decision.
    Love this bike.
    Installed a one up V2 180mm dropper.
    Game changer.
I don’t understand why there isn’t more videos on this beautiful bike.

It's a nice bike , the frame is nearly as light as carbon fiber , nice to see mid level bikes becoming available for reviews . I bought the 2020 chisel for $1950 tax included CAD , this is nearly the same with 1.5 degree slacker head tube , lower seat stays and a couple mm longer chainstays with the same parts spec for $2875 tax included CAD . However , in the Scott Scale lineup this is alot like the 950 and I bought one of them too in the 2021 model for $2750 tax included CAD with a slightly better parts spec . So the chisel for that price in 2020 was a great deal . This chisel was tested by flow mountain bike and reported to be as smooth as the latest Cannondale Scalpel HT with Carbon Fiber leaf springs in it's chainstays . The 2020 has 430 mm chainstays and is more of a sprinting race bike than the Scott Scale with 438 mm chainstays , it's noticbly more pedal friendly with a high cadance resting place but the chisel can be tamed with a smaller tire out back and the lightest tires .

TBH I’m trying to decide now between the 2023 Chisel and 2023 Scale 950. The Chisel has an awesome frame but trash parts whereas the parts in rhe Scale are what I most lilely would not upgrade roght away and it’s like 300 Euros cheaper… But dat frame tho!!!

    • @kevinadams1049
      @kevinadams1049 Год назад +1

@@tas_velnias I have had both , traded the scale on a spark . The Chisel has a trheaded BB , a sealed beairing headset but it's sleek shape leaves it springy from side to side . Parts are cheap and it needs a 30 tooth chainrring and some links removed from the chain to calm it'd lunging personality if you're not racing . The scale is stiffer , very fast on smooth to moderate singletrack , a friendly allday peddler out of the box , A PF BB but it's suppose to be the good one , it's wide . and the 2023 has cable routing thru the head tube . They're both better with a rockshox SID . TBS bikes in Canada ships worldwide and they have a SLX groupset for $300 and some CAD . The older HG driver they have a light 11 speed XT cassette for $125 , the deore shifter is $35 and the deraileur is $70 something $159 for the XT 12 speed which works on 11 speed . SLX cranksets are about $150 . This cost me $1000 3 years ago .

Good video. Thanks. I subscribed and liked. Is the Chisel considered to be a classic UCI XCO race geometry? Similar to the Epic or even the S-Works Epic. I am looking for an AL affordable UCI XCO light hardtail. When you refer to the Chisel being XC trail do you mean XCO MTB angle? For a small framesize, (my size) is the wheelsize 27.5 (i prefer) and not a 29er?

The wheels are actually pretty good, I've got 7K on them now with no problems. The fork is the main thing that needs upgrading. You will find a SID if you look hard enough for decent money. It takes 500g off the weight and drastically improves the ride quality.
