Still the best out there. Love you Melanie. Forever in our hearts 💕
So glad Melanie's family will be leaving her videos and channel for us to continue to learn!
On the 2nd round or so I started to get owl eye vibes. Now I want to crochet an owl and make little rounds like these for eyes! Whose with me??😂
I wish i could crochet, my mum can. Never been able to get it.. I can build and repair a pc but crochet eludes me.
SimderZ check out Coco Bella, her beginner tutorial taught me :)
Coco Bella uses UK and not US terms, Bobwilson123 is great...Start with the basics, 1.learn to make a slip knot, 2, make a chain, 3, grit stich (single crochet), from there u can learn, half double, double, triple crochet, after u master that, u can go for front loop/back loop, front post and back post - i taught myself like that ;)
Wooley Wonders on youtube is good too, also UK but she doesn't go too fast.
Catherine, It's Bella Coco, (not Coco Bella-lol) and she most certainly does use U.S terms as well. She will say, for instance, "We are now going to do a Treble crochet, now that is a UK term; in the U.S. this is known as a double crochet." If you give her a chance and watch like 3 of her videos, you will get to know her style...I'm a newbie and have no trouble with her accent or her terminology. She has an Absolute Beginner Series that teaches you how to crochet right from the very beginning. She teaches evert stitch you mentioned and much more, also has a blog, her own store and creates her own crochet designs. Also, Jayda in Stitches is very good. She's always smiling while she explains things...has a very upbeat personality whereas some Teachers doing tutorials just talk in monotone...no personality at all. Also, some of the teachers talk too fast, I know we can go back in the video and listen, but talking too fast is just down right annoying to me. Like Mikey from I think its red heart yarns or yarnsperations? (is that part of red heart?) anyway, he's good, but talks to fast for me and I can't understand him bc he has a bit of a lisp - (I know he can't help it) and that on top of talking too fast...I just cant watch him.
Trille lmao it’s not that hard to know both versions of terms. she also always links a translator below.
These things are great for exfoliating the skin very gently, or to remove makeup with cleanser.
Yes, I love them for that! My 5 year old stole a bunch and she uses them in the bath to play with haha!
Oh Dear! Now you can make more lol. I think that's lovely.
I love these simple little scrubbies. I like how you can make them smaller for little faces or bigger and make into a wash cloth. I like a crochet across the back of them making a little handle, which is great for in the shower or for holding onto while trying to give wiggly little ones a bath. ;)
So easy. Thank you! As a newbie crocheter I avoid the magic circle but watching you do it really helped!
I don’t like the magic circle I try to avoid them at all cost 🤣
I have come back to say a year after watching this, I have been using these face scrubbies all the time and they work great! Thank you so much for your great idea!!!!
I'd like to try these. I have cotton yarn. How many times can they generally be washed/used
Mine have been washed hundreds still fine
I made about a dozen of these in one afternoon the other day after watching your video. They are simple, fun little projects. I think they would be a nice addition to a gift basket with some nice spa like bath products.
Is there a written version or do I gave to keep rewinding?😳😁
Sandy Takacs you could go to settings and slow the video playback. It helps a lot 😉
This is THE BEST magic circle tutorial I’ve seen. I have struggled and failed trying to make these for a long time. Thank you so much. Extremely easy to follow
May I please a question? If I wanted to go 1 more row would I do 2 dhc 3 shdc or stick with the 2 dhc 2sdhc?
I see Christmas stocking stuffer ideas:) I am going to give this a try.
1:55 you're welcome! ☺️🌺
I’ve had this on half speed and repeated the first stitch 10+ times and I just can’t do it crocheting is so difficult
Don't give up! Once you "get it" it will be super easy. Try other beginniner videos until you find a teacher you click with. The thing that helped me most in the beginning was finding a project I really, really wanted to make which helped me keep going through the frustration. Also, use a bigger hook (size J) and light colored acrylic yarn (yellow, red heart super saver from Wal-Mart as an example) so you can see your stitches easily. Much luck!!!😊
Start with single crochet. I wouldn't recommend starting with this. I started with single, half double, and double crochet until you are comfortable with them. Make dishcloths that is a great way to practice. It took me several attempts at crocheting until it clicked for me. You can make a lot with just single and half double crochet. This is a little advanced. Don't give up their are great videos out there to follow.
Thank you so much! I'm just starting with crochet and I was having a lot of trouble with counting my stitches in the round and where to close my round. Finally I found someone who explains it well. You've saved me, and I'm grateful. 🌻✨
Hi Melanie! Thank you for this tutorial. I was wondering if you could tell us how to crochet these with handles for our fingers.?
I have already crocheted 2 of these in 20 minutes!
LOVE all of your easy video's.... My 8yr old granddaughter has been making crocheted item's,,,,I found your video's by chance.... I sent her a couple of item's so she can try.... Hopefully she will get them,,,i sent them via email.... LOVE YOUR WORK,,,AND YOU MAKE IT EASY LOOKING SO I HOPE SHE CAN SEE ALL THAT YOU HAVE....
LOVE,,,AND GOD BLESS YOU
What a great idea! I'll be making a few for me and my daughter...and maybe make more as Christmas gifts 😀. Thank you. 😙
Bravo, this is the easiest to follow crochet tutorial I've ever seen!
RIP Melanie 😢😢. Looking for scrubbie patterns and came across this one. I sure miss you. 💕💕
Saw this about a week ago and thought it looked easy. Went out and bought the kit and can't get past 2.30 minutes in. All the instructions are there except what I'm doing when pulling the thread tighter on the circle. Turns out it's so magic only the gifted can do it! I think I've remembered why I only cross stitch!
Dont give up!!! Ypu can do it. I'm the kind of person that used to always say "I can't do this or that" We all have the talent to do great things! I like trying new things in a quiet enviroment and when I'm relaxed. Try it,friend!🙋
THANK YOU for this! I've tried the magic circle and crochet in the round so many times and never could 'get it' until I saw this video! I've watched so many tutorials and none made as much sense as yours!
I love your crochet tutorials!!! Please do more ❤️
On the last row it was one double stitch in one, then two consecutive single stitches. How do you increase in the next row? Two consecutive double stitches in one and two consecutive single stitches?
I have the same question!
I don't know if you still need this but I experimented and if you want to go one row more then its 2hdc in one hole and then 3 consecutive single hdc and repeat. I experienced a little curling by adding 2 additional rows to the one in the video but it could just be too tight😅

Never made one before... soooo helpful. Especially the magic circle.
Many thanks Melanie for your clear and informative tutorial, we are trying to use less to do our wee bit to save the planet. I am making a bundle of these from left over cotton yarn both for myself and my DD. I think they would be great as extra's for gifts.
Am I the only one who cant get it? 😭 it is my first crochet project ever…. And i dont get what you mean by 2 half double .. what does that mean?
If you wanted to go to the 5th round, would it be 2hdc and 3 sc etc?
I need this scrub to clean makeup off my face, glad I fought your scrub. Thanks
If you would end the scrub i.e. with an invisible join, no one would know where you ended. Do you use the invisible join in your personal projects? Just wondering!
I have 4 teenage granddaughters that are going to love these scrubbies. Great Christmas gifts! Thanks!
Thanks for all your wonderful tutorials! If I am ever looking for one that's easy to follow I can always count on you! I've been making these scrubbies with aran weight 100% cotton yarn and 5 mm crochet hook but I am finding they have very visible holes when finished. Should I go down a hook size or what?
Me too…and I can’t get an answer
Thank you so much for great teaching! I actually made some! I haven't crocheted for years but your video helped bring it all back! I've never done a magic circle and didn't count my stitches very well. Now I can! Great!
Got a bit messed up on that 4th round. Also, if I wanted to make these larger, would the 5th round be three hdc?
By far, you make the best and easy to follow crochet tutorials. Thank you! Keep them coming. Love these rounds
Boa tarde boa ideia 👏👏👏👏💓💓💓💓
Enjoy your videos; however, I am a beginner and you move way too quickly through the tutorial in my opinion.
Agr8fullife I do a lot of pauses and playback. :)
Agr8fullife me too...mostly after I put it down and come back to it. I've watched several videos now because I crocheted when I was young and I'm getting back into it, just so I can remember the stitches and doing little things gets me in the flow again but there's a few people that are really good at explaining, others I won't watch. But I also usually have to look up a left handed person video!
I would adjust the setting and speed.
I am an advanced crocheter so if this video was slower, I wouldn't watch it. Beginners, like with all videos, need to pause and rewind to get the hang of it.
If you go to her channel she has specific videos for beginners where she goes slower. Like she said in the beginning this video is the next step up from beginner
These would be cute coasters!
Love you vids but I don’t like that you use such thin yarn:( :)
Ima use these for like cold iced water to put in cuz then they leave a mark-.-
Thank you ……RIP dear Melanie…you are so missed
Mine did start curling upwards. How do I fix this, please? BTW, these are SO CUTE! Thank you!
Also, I did get the count right. How do I fix the tension? Do I change Crochet Hooks?
how on earth do you do this??? i cant follow it at all
I have zero cotton yarn but about a million acrylic balls of yarn...... will that work?
Yes
So easy project!!! Melanie miss 💜💜💜
Miss miss miss you Melanie Ham! Can’t wait to see you again…💔☺️
AHHH MY WON'T STAY FLAT 😠😠😠
AHHY MY Won't stay Flat
Omg 😳 I'm gonna a 100% make those for my mom 🤭 her birthday is I'm a week and I havet made her a present yet 😅 omgggg now I have🙏🏼THANK YOU, YOU JUST SAVED ME✨🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼.
How do I see the magic circle, seem alittle confusing
so the next round it 2 1 1 1 2 ?
Mine came out lacey! What am I doing wrong
Hello , can i use this coaster project and sell it in my business
Looks easy Melanie, but, I'm just starting to crochet, so everything needs to be slow motion, but with practice I'll get there. Thanks 😊 fior the tutorial!! 💓👍👏👏
Thanks you’re so easy to understand 🎉😊
Thank you for the tutorial I’ve been thinking what to make my mom but then I saw your video and then I thought I chould make my mom something to put underneath her tea cup Thank you so much ☺️ Even tho its a Face Scrubbie uhhhhhh its fine right?😅
I miss you Melanie. May you rest in peace.
I find a stitch marker in the beginning to be helpful. Especially if new beginners get confused. But always end on 1... that is how I always know I did it right coming around. Just two tips to help others who are curious.
Thank you Ms. Melanie, I made my first face scrubby and It's a great way to use up your cotton yarn scrap. I will do some more of those face scrubbies. Happy Crocheting.
I usually have a hard time understanding people when they try to explain how to do things. expecially crochet. For somereason I found kintting way easer to do and understand. Thank you for your videos. I find them very easy to understand as well as very professional. :)
I love this, just asked my 24yo daughter who is home visiting from Way north Australia if she would like a couple and yes please was the answer and can you make some for my fellow teachers. HELLO she leaves to go back home in 2 days, guess i will be busy.
My prayers are with you and your family
Love this! Could you do a tutorial for a round and rectangle crochet rug please xx
Rectangular is simple enough to understand, chain however many chains that you want then do what ever stitch you want and continue until you have the size you want then fasted off
Question. So, the first round increase is 8. Second round double which is 2 in each stitch,,,, now for the rest of the rounds we do 1 stitch 2 stitch in each stitch. So our increases are not doubled but only 1/3 increases? So, 8, 16, not 32 but 24 stitches 1/3 rd increases for the rest of the project. Is that right? Please explain i am new to this
On round four, is it 2 in one stitch, then 1 in one stitch, 1 in one stitch, then 2 in one stitch? This is my first round ever.
Yep!
Okay so always ignore the chain you slip stitched into and start on the chain next to it? I've been watching amigurumi videos and they're slightly intimidating and confusing. If it says 9 sc then increase 18 sc then decrease 9 sc would I do every other sc from the 18 sc round?
I'm really excited to make these as a present for my aunt and mom. Pretty soon after I joined the circle and started the 16 double crochets my circle started curling like crazy. Does anyone else know why?
This was my first project! I definitely messed up the counting the first time around but my second time was a success 😁 thank you!
I can’t do it! When you do the yarn over pull through you go to fast and I can’t see what to do
me too :'(
Just pause and rewind, i am a beginner and learned a lot from her watching, pausing, rewinding videos
Me three ! The first two minutes are great....then it dissolves into witchcraft 😆
@@lindsaypaps8099 😂
Personally,I slow down the video. She's gonna sound like she's drunk..lol But that'll do the trick. Hope this helps!
Can you please do a stitch count for each row like you did the first and second? I can’t figure out where to slip stitch and get the right stitch count. I’m trying to follow it exactly how you do it but mine doesn’t turn out the same.
After 2-2-2-2, how do you continue? 2-3-2? Or something else?
Thank you so much for this very easy instruction 🥰 I haven’t been doing crochet since I was a teenager, but after following your video I can now make one in 12 minutes, which is very good for me. So again thank you 🙏🏻
linen/cotton mix yarn gives an exfoliating scrubbie. I'd love a close up of where the slip stitches go!
I was making these all wrong! Thanks for a great tutorial.
thank you melanie! I have watched so many videos on the magic circle and could never get it right until this one!
Same here! This video was really helpful~ also a great thing to do since I’m stuck at home. Thanks so much!
I love your method I think it is very simple and I am planning on making one of these for my Aunts Birthday that is on Monday(tomorrow)
ive put the vidoe in slow motion and still cant do the magic circle. I won't give up tho lol. Love ALL your vids Melanie. God bless you sweetie!
Thank you!! I was looking for something really quick and easy and it ticked both of the boxes.
What size is the one you crocheted?
Wow! I actually did it!! Took a little bit to get the basics but you made this super easy! Thank You so much!!
Thank you. I was about to order facial pads online. 👍👍👍

I may have to try this technique because chaining 4 then going back to my first chain technique hasn't been working out for me. This is such a great video.
👍💕
so if i wanted to make it bigger were you did your last row -the 2DHC in the same stitch and 2DHC in the next 2 stitches would i then do the same DHC in the same stitch and then 3 DHC in the next 3 stitches and so on? and ty i love watching you you are far by the best yet ty again
Definitely not for a beginner.
Shure am missing you!
thank you for the video I going to make my mom and grandma some of these, but if you do another video about this could you maybe describe what your doing a little more don't take it personally its probably just me or maybe its because I'm a kid :)
What if you can't get cotton yarn?
Any soft yarn would work just fine.
We miss you Melanie ❤️
I've never heard of the magic circle before but it looks easier than the normal circle, which is really hard.
I know this is an older video. I just came across it. You make crocheting so easy. Your directions are very clear. TFS
Tried loads of scrubbies but found this the easiest and most memorable pattern. Even used it as a base pattern for larger circles
I never comment on videos BUT you were so easy to follow, not sooo slow but not to fast. Your camera angle was perfect as I was able to see exactly what stitch ro ss !!! I'm going to try this now ! Thank you so much for a great video
Is there any other way to make a circle without the magic circle?
Rebecca Rose Johnson i think you Can make a Chain en close it with a slipstitch. And then work your way up
Thank you!
Thanks for going slow. I will keep trying that circle.
I'm a beginner crocheter and have given these a go but I seem to have much bigger gaps than you do when crocheting the next round?? 😥 how can I get the tension correct?
