- I just moved into a new house so in this video I take you on a tour of my new casa and tell you how much everything costs here.
Moving to Panajachel Guatemala was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The quality of life here is amazing. It's super affordable and the local people are beyond amazing. To be honest, it's the people and the culture that keeps me here.
Though moving to a new country alone can be scary, it's also mind blowing and so liberating. You learn, you grow, you heal, you evolve.

I retired to the Antigua guatemala /lago atitlan area 12 years ago....rent is about 40% less on lago atitlan than in antigua.
and as low as $100/mo for a hotel room type of apartment...I rent a nice 5 br 5 bath 3 story house for $500/mo unfurnished.
if things get tight we will rent out two or three rooms... some with attached baths.
we lived in guatemala city for a year or two...I am 83 yo man, with care taker who lives on my second floor with her 3 kids...she has a nice car, speaks fair english... if you are older and do not mind living a bit like the indigenous mayans room, board and care taker services are quite affordable... the average income here is $300/mo.
You need $1,000/mo income here to get a retirement visa...medical and dental services are good at 1/8th US prices.
Thanx for your information!!
What a beautiful place !
We are currently in Nicaragua and will be here for about 10 more months but then we plan to do 6 months in Guatemala ( Xela, Antigua, and Lake Atitlan )….maybe a couple months in each if the tourist visa will allow.
Oh What's it like in Nicaragua? I wanna go! Hit me up when you get to the lake!

Different vibes in different cities. Here in the mountains it is relaxed, very few tourists…almost none.
We hope to be in Antigua next March and April, Lake Atitlan in May n June, and Xela in July n August. Do you know anything about Xela ? Not tons of info online. Thx
and woooowwwwww that garden is so lush and beautiful
Isn't it great!! And I only showed half of it :)
Absolutely beautiful, thanks for all the helpful info.?
It’s sure cute. America is getting crazy. Moving out of the country is on my mind.
Sending you many Blessings.💞

i miss guatema afternoons
Guatemala truly is magical! Thanx for watching and commenting!
I think your rent is a little high for central America..... No locals rent them......to much money !
Prices have definitely risen quite a bit in the last few years but still cheaper than Canada!
the house is great! Congrats on the new place. I'm interested in learning how to write, like you, and work remotely. are there any classes you took that you liked? you are an inspiration! thank you. :-)
HI thanx so much for watching! I have another video on my channel about how to become a freelance writer. I took no classes or anything and had no previous experience. I just wrote, did my best and stayed optimistic. And I always say, if I can do it, anyone can! :) Good luck!
@@WomenBlazingTrails Thanks lady. I just need to put on my big girl pants and do it. 👖👖
love your home! i had to convert the dollars to nzd and it's such a great price
is that $660Canadian per month?
Yup.. sorry I always forget to clarify that it's monthly
It’s been a while since I have watched. Last time you were in Costa Rica, why the move?
I've never lived in Costa Rica
How did you find the new house, what website, etc. And, did you try to renegotiate the rent when you met the owner in person, or just pay the listed price?
Hey! Most houses/Apts are listed in Facebook groups, some are posted flyers in stores. I've never negotiated rent. The prices are pretty much set in stone and affordable!
How did you find your place to move there? It’s so beautiful! I want to live officially in Guatemala
I used Internation LIving to do some research then I joined Facebook groups for more info
Tt
Hello! Can you please share a facebook group where you found the rent? Thanksfor this
If you search for Panajachel in groups you'll find a few. Join any one of them!
