I am building an off-road Porsche Cayenne and you can not have ugly brakes on an off-road vehicle, right? Probably untrue. But I won't be having ugly brakes on mine. I needed to do a brake job on the Cayenne so I thought it would be a great time to address the very ugly silver brakes. If you're going to have painted brakes, they should probably be nice. I did this entire refinishing with products a picked up from a local automotive parts store for less than $35. A small price, a little bit of time, and I think you too can have brakes that in my opinion look a lot nicer. The Cayenne is ready for the wheels now. So that's what we will do. Thank you all!

You need to apply a wax oil spray on treatment or the the sheep oil stuff you have to redo every year.

Loving it! I did the pads and rotors on my Q7 TDI this summer, which shares the same brakes as the Cayenne. Those rear caliper bolts are no joke, i did it on jackstands and didnt have room for leverage like you did 😂. Small suggestion, id use way less anti-seize on the hub/rotor mating surface. Dont need much to keep em from getting stuck the next time around 👌👌

Great upgrade! If you didn't already, I would put some grease on those pins where they contact the spring brace and where the spring touches the caliper.
Thanks Michael! My F30 calipers were the same setup and I was told to never grease them so I decided to keep it the same with these ☺️
Interesting. I am not a professional mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but I do have an F32 with the MSport/Brembo brakes. It just seems that there is a lot of stress and pressure at those contact points. Perhaps I could be overly cautious. I think there are as many ways to replacing/repairing brakes as there are welding things together, haha. Regardless, your upgraded brakes looked great.@@ChromaticGarage
@@michaelskinner896 in BMW service manal it says to not put grease on the pins as they collect dirt on them. I don't know about brembo but when you buy OE Ate brakes,not from a dealer, in their manual it says to put grease on. So do as you please I guess lol

Instead of all that masking and partial cleaning, why not do a proper job and remove and dis-assmeble the calipers before painting, installing new seals, and greasing pins, and fresh fluid? I haven't watched your other videos on this car, so maybe you've already had the calipers apart and later decided on paint?
