I think they also communicate. Maybe another sea turtle had a good past experience with a diver and spread the word or this turtle had a positive past experience. For example there’s several studies on ravens (I know different animal completely). Studies have shown that when a human rescues a raven or feeds it, it communicates this to its flock and the other ravens are nicer or will come to you looking for food as well.

The idea that this guy somehow saved the turtle, or that the turtle is asking for help is ridiculous. The snail would have crawled off it's back in a few minutes or maybe an hour or so. The turtle was never in the slightest danger, yet this guy tries to make himself look like some kind of hero.

Turtles go to certain underwater rock formations to be “cleaned” by small fish. You can see them waiting in line for their turn at the cleaning rock.
Snorkeling is common in these areas because there is always an excellent chance to get closeup photos of sea turtles.
This turtle is probably very accustomed to humans and to getting cleaned in those locations.
It’s always very cool to see them so closely.

We go to Longboat Key frequently, and are members of Mote Marine Labs.
On the dock on the bay side where we stay we see turtles and manatees. It's against the law to interact with these animals.
But no one's told us what to do when THEY approach us - and it happens often. They seem to want the contact
And I don't argue with them. These beautiful creatures are smart, and amazing. TY for sharing your encounter !

One morning I get to the farm one of our Beagles runs up to me trailing fishing line. Well the hooks barb is under her skin. They dont back out, you have to push the barb thru the skin and when it comes out you cut the barb off and back it out. I did this mini surgery on the tailgate and that sweet dog had her head on my shoulder while I worked. Never moved and did not snap at me. She knew I was helping. I saw my old man remove a lure from his friends arm years before so I did that.

@Nickhead87 Indeed, there is. However, even that has been messed with. There are so many missed chapters, along with mistranslations that are both intentional and accidental. Kings, rulers and clerics/priests, etc..., they were the ones that decided what went in and what was left out. Unfortunately, many of these secrets societies are responsible for what knowledge was available to the public aka peasants. If you are not born of the 13 bloodlines, then you were a slave.

it's definitely seen positive interaction with humans in the past.
    "Hey, hands"
    (swims over)
    (sits there)
    (stares)
    "Hey, get this off me."
    (takes it off)
    "Is it off?"
(checks to see if it's off)
    "Thanks, see ya."
And off it went. Very cool moment here. It knew exactly what you were and what you could do for it.
