I'm not sure if Kimberly Elise really played her in true form, but if so, her stubbornness & negativity/pessimism was greatly annoying! Some people don't have the breaks, (including a good man who wants to help), like she was given. But I'm glad it worked out for her.

Nice movie but the one thing that bothered me was that she had 3 grown sons that really did nothing at all. You didn’t see them do anything except stand around blaming their mom for the whole situation, the only exception was the one taking the computer orders.

Is it just me or did anyone else find Melvin annoying, especially at the scene where he bought take out?

I didn't. I'd LOVE to have a good man come in as a Knight in shining armor! A lot of African-American women are not as fortunate as she is. I don't have kids or a mortgage, but I have been doing life on my own for a long time.

@@kattmilk I know he bought them a nice meal - something to be grateful for - and someone to talk to - but even the kid mentioned how they could use help to save their home. I’d be grateful for the meal but wouldn’t consider that knight in shining armor. Same here, been alone and never have prioritized getting married. Nor do I think it elevates a woman’s status in any form.

@@juliehernandez80 Well, judging from the old car that he was driving, he definitely wasn't rich. But his moral support and hands on approach was great! I wish I could find a guy who would stick with me like that!

@@kattmilk That’s true. I don’t know much about cars and assumed it was classic and nice. I thought he was a well established man and wanted her to make it for herself as he coached from the sidelines. Things like that rub me the wrong way. When I look at it from a different perspective - that he may not have the money - that also makes sense.
