How much has your electricty bill went up from using this? Just seems kind of crazy that your cat pees and it then goes into cleaning mode for 35 minutes
I don't think people understand how power usage works on different appliances - average heater like hair drier uses up 1500 watts, this thing can't use more than 50.. it's a small motor cycling away .. using your 5 minute hair dryer for a week probably uses more electricity - any device that heats up uses at least 1500-2000 or 3000 watts.. your electric kettle, coffe maker, kitchen stove, space heater, dishwasher or washing machine (when on heating cycle) and has a larger motor - cause it drives 10 or more kg of wet clothes..those are serious energy spenders - if it heats up, it uses the most energy, small spinning devices are cheap ..your laptop running all day probably uses more power.. .. power is not the issue - only is it worth keeping and does it do the job?
I'm sorry for the slow response. I had not seen this comment. The unit does actually have about a 1500 watt hair dryer type blower/heater that dries the "litter pellets" and runs for about 10-15 minutes. I'm sure it does have some bearing on the electric bill honestly I did not use no more than for a couple of months or so so I'm not really sure.
UhBuddy ok that changes things, yeah a potential waste od electricity, still if you run a heater it will run for hours, still not that much of a waste, but seems like it might stink when it all heats up.. anyway seems cool but not worth it I guess? Anyone tried any if solutions that are worth it?
@@robob3ar it only stinks if the scoop has left feces in the pellets which happens from time to time. Is just urine that is cleaning up, it smells good when they detergent then the dryer comes on and dries it up. It puts off a nice fragrance.
Kinda cool but too noisy and still needs more perfecting. Seems like a good prototype that was put on the market too soon. The makers best get back to the drawing board!!
Hi, thanks for the video! Quick question: Does it put enough liquid into the toilet to force a flush, or do you have to manually flush it after the cycle?
Erin Truax, Thank you for watching! Well it will not force your toilet to flush with freshwater, The waste that is put in there is liquified by the machine. As you probably know, your toilet will automatically drain out in order to keep the water at a certain level. Hope this helps
@@UhBuddy1976 i imagine it's still pretty murky though ?? Trying to decide if I need to devise a way to force the toilet to do a full flush if I move out of my apartment and into a house without enough room by the washer/dryer setup to run this again

I thought about just that but you have to leave the seat up all the time and if you leave the cats home alone for two days I can imagine the toilet would get full lol.
I bought that device for my 2 cats 6 months ago. But i still didnt set up it. After i read negative comments about bad smell, im not sure to set up.. Cuz i only have 1 bathroom and if it smells bad i can't accept that. Should i sell it? Or give a try? If i sell it im thinking to buy litter Robot open air III. Looking for advices..
IMHO, I would sell the device and get a hooded litter box and use the arm & Hammer "slide" litter. The cat genie works great for urine but not for poo. It will often times leave poo in the bowl and then bake it dry making the bathroom smell
It would be cool if you could remotely connect to the toilet’s flushing mechanism so at the end of each cleanning cycle a message would trigger a flush. maybe using a simple engine just to left the toilet’s flushing mechanism.
Thanks, i cannot believe I needed to watch this but I wasnt going to buy unless I saw it. I'm a little uneasy by how it takes almost 40 mins between cleanings, can you set it to do this once a day at a certain time? I will just ask them...thanks again
Yes you can set it to do once or up to three times per day or auto by motion sensor. it works great with urine but I have to be honest, sometimes it does not do well with feces. Sometimes smaller bits of feces will fall through the cracks of the scoop or the scoop will totally miss chunks of the feces and when it goes to air dry the "litter pellets", you get the nice pungent smell of hot air baked poop! otherwise if it gets all of the faces or it is just urine, it smells really good as it dries because of the detergent.
@@kristinjohannigmeier7792 just calling it like I see it. Lol. It was nice to try out but I’m glad we went back to a regular hooded box with Arm&Hammer litter
It takes a few days or a week to get them acclimated to the noise and action. The company suggests that you keeo their original litter box nearby (don't clean it) to encourage them to try it out. I kept the utility room door closed during the first few cleaning cycles so they got a kind of filtered sound and got used to it pretty quick. Then left the door open all the time and they were fine.
nikkirukavina1992 we give it a 10. Sometimes it doesn’t get ALL the stool (may leave some little balls of it) but for the most part, it does good. We keep an old fashioned scoop nearby just in case 😊. Be sure if you get one to definitely not overload it with the litter pellets.
the biggest issue of cat genie is the SUPER HIGH COST OF THE SPECIAL FLUID YOU HAVE TO BUY ! you did NOT mention it ! it isa damn rip,off ! big $$$ The good news is there is a hack ! you can take it apart ( which voids the warranty ) and hack the cartridges so you can then fill them w/ homemade fluid ! it is complicated and NOT everyone can do it ! but hey ! i've got 11 cats ! WE are buying two units and will take one apart for the hack !
But you'll save in time spent scooping, money washing and replacing bins, and the health of your kitties. I dont have it because it's so expensive (that's why I'm looking here lol) but the cleaner the better.
Well if you know of a cat that has done that. Ours never has... Our cat is very “proper” if you will... Always covers her mess. We feed her high quality food and her urine doesn’t hardly smell. Her stool will smell up the bathroom just slightly for a few minutes. I know this is not the subject matter that you mentioned but I thought I would throw that in there because a cats food is just as important to their litter as the litterbox itself.
We haven't had the machine in awhile but if I remember correctly about 15 minutes. It has an electric dryer. From start to finish the cycle takes about 36 to 38 minutes.
Dariusz Mąkowski, it will work either way... It has auto detect as well as settings to run multiple times per day... you can turn either setting on or off. You can also push a button to have it clean..

That would be nice but it does a decent job of getting "much" of the waste out of there.
We had ours between the washer and dryer and had the hose dump in the same drain line as the washer. It worked perfectly.
It would be much easier (and cheaper) to just to hock it up to drain.
