About blue light : Ultra-violet frequency of the sunlight CANNOT pass through the glass of the windows of a house or a car . Only pure silicium is able to let it pass, if I remember well. Learned that years ago. Keep on helping us John, you are so human !
Just started on melatonin in Ireland. Not a Available otc so 50 euro for doctors appointment and 65 euro for 3mg per night for 1 months prescription. Still, very impressed as working well for me. Enjoy your more available and cheaper melatonin in the USA!
Helen Phelan we have to get it on script here in Australia too it’s not right Cos some doctors will not write it out on prescription no matter how much insomnia you have plus it’s expensive to get it on script
@@RB-pf6dz EU want to stop people from buying supplements, as their friend BIG PHARMA ordered it ... no joke... you are lucky if you can find 0.3 mg on prescription
This was an amazingly informative podcast. I've been taking .5 mg of melatonin for years and no longer suffer from insomnia. Nice to know that melatonin is also good for so much more in the body. I was worried that I was creating a dependency. I am relieved to know that this is not the case. Thank you both so much!
meditation stimulates the pineal gland (no thought) to produce melatonin--it is free and requires no special equipment. I just want to say how kind and amazing you both are--thank you from the bottom of my heart
I am looking for the natural way to get melatonin with my sleeping starting from 2am to 10am here in Anchorage, Alaska where the sun goes down by 3:30pm and rises at 10am. It's disturbing to know 2am is late. I will try to meditate so I could fall asleep but... sigh sigh sigh. Pray for me. This is my first time in AK.
Thank you for presenting this fantastic research on melatonin. Will you adjust your ad settings so they're not popping up every 5 minutes? It's a big detractor to the viewer experience.
Prof Russel Reiter lecture mentions he takes 100mg melatonin at night, and sometimes more if he makes the midnight stroll to the bathroom. Also, suggests those 45 + take it regularly, starting low dose and gradually building.
the moon gives off a different light than the sun, so even if theres snow on the ground and its brighter, moon light is a different wave. so dont worry about moonligfht.
So informative and useful and thank u for posting this on u tube. I have learned so much and am experimenting with different acts of melatonin. Time release works best for me and started out with 5mg and after 24 days became groggy daytimes. So now going down to 3 mg time release. Every body is unique so what works for one may not for another.
The experiment with melatonin D3 K2 and strontium citrate increased bone mineral density by 4.3%, which is correlated with decreased fracture risk. But is your study correct? The strontium atom is large and heavy - it increases bone mineral density readings while also increasing fracture risk because it interferes with proper bone architecture.
Can taking long term opiate pain meds cause lack of melatonin? I have had shocking insomnia ever since I got put on pain meds and I’m wishing to god I didn’t take them now Cos I’m now addicted to them and it’s so hard to get off them especially with my chronic health and pain issues 😞 but I’m still going to slowly taper and get off them but it’s hard now with this pandemic it’s making it very hard to relax and coming on pain meds is a nightmare in itself and this is not a good time to get off them due to the severe depression and anxiety you get coming off them
After serious sleep dysregulation, I am finding 5mg of melatonin is working for me, I only feel groggy on the first wake, about 4 am ,after going to bed around 10 then. I then snooze and dream well for an hour. Next day no grogginess. Is this a routine I should try for a period of time ( 6 months or so?) or only use when anxious about certain life events which affect sleep. EG would it be better used over a time period to help regulate sleep-wake cycles in general.
an ad every couple of minutes is overdoing it. no , gluten is not good for you. and no , the moon does not affect melatonin levels. It has to do with frequency of light . Street lamps will affect you melatonin.
i have found if you take melatonin for sleep you need to take it at least an hour before you need to sleep or sometimes it can make you more awake.at 0.5mg its effective.I am not so sure about higher doses.
As far as Nooks are concerned..."With the new NOOK Glowlight® 3, available on November 8, 2017..we’ve found the answer-this is a NOOK that loves you back. Here’s how: The Glowlight 3 cares about your eyes Our tired eyeballs have been trying to tell us something: as day turns to night and we begin to wind down for the evening, it’s bad for our eyes to be exposed to the harsh blue light emitted by cell phones and tablets. The Glowlight 3 features a new “night mode” that lets you control the temperature of the illuminated screen any time you want, from a cool white to warmer orange tones, so you can read comfortably, day or night. You can even set it to adjust automatically throughout the day. And like all black-and-white NOOK readers, the Glowlight 3 features a high resolution, glare-free screen that reads great even in direct sunlight, and easily adjustable fonts to fit your reading style."
Oh boy these two people need to do a podcast with Dr.Jack Kruse if they want the complete perspective on melatonin and circadian rhythms :)
Doris Loh is another one who has deep information and research.

A fantastically informative podcast beautifully presented.
Thank you so much for sharing this.
This information is priceless! ❤️
Great formation. We as laypeople do not know much about all the information attached to taking Melatonin over a long period of time.

Hi John
