      I'm proud that I was born not too far from the site of the bridge and I can remember having to travel quite a distance to be able to get where you wanted. I'm one of those who can begin a sentence, " back in the day" because so much has changed, leaving everlasting memories that are etched in the fabric of our lives!!
      I hope people who haven't been to W.Va. will make it a destination in the future, and see the absolute beauty of the state!!

    Hello, your video of New River Gorge is a sign I've taken way to my dear friend Mike Slavey died Nov 5, 2022 and he was my very own personal tour guide of the site where he lived after moving from NY.
    It came up on my RUclips channel when I had turned it on. There you were telling about the Gorge tytyty a sign that my mountain man Mike made the trip to his place in the mountains of WV. Signs of our loved ones are all around if we stay open for them.💛 This place will forever be special to me.

Yes, the title "New River Gorge National Park" reminds me of your "Bridge Walk" which is on my bucket list. But just download the free AllTrails app and that will tell you Trail links elevation gain and loss and it will show you a map of each trail that you’re looking for. It also gives pictures and gives reviews from other hikers. If you have any questions about particular trails there I’d be happy to help just ask away.

      Sandstone for sure. There are little decks on the backs of Grandview and Canyon Rim Visitors center. At Grandview there is a little paved trail thats over to the right that takes you to an overlook of the bridge. The other one straight ahead is full of stairs. You can see Cathedral Falls from the parking lot without having to hike to it. But everything else is a hike or had stairs/climbs. Hope that helps. ~RVA

      Sandstone Falls Board walk is 1/2 mile out and back on a boardwalk with killer waterfalls all around. The Kaymoor Waterfall is easy as well. That one is probably the same length with a big pay offs. The views at GrandView & Canyon Rim Visitor Centers are great, that just requires steps for both. They aren't long, just a climb back up. Hope that helps Mary! ~RVA~

    Where did you stay and do you think it would be safe to visit weather wise in January?

    • @RVAHikerGirl
      @RVAHikerGirl  Год назад

      Hi there Joyce. Weather changes day by day minute by minute in the mountains in the winter. So that really depends on your vehicle and gear that you have. But I would camp there in the winter months. I actually mention and show where I stayed in the video. There are 6-7 campgrounds there in the park that are open year round. So you have a bunch to choose from. ~RVA~

    you can make the endless wall trail a loop and not use the road by using ladders that go to the bottom and come back up the other side!

      Good to know - still not sure how that cuts out the road walk since the ladders are parallel to the road though.

      Bears are everywhere in West Virginia and the surrounding states. But as much as I am outdoors camping, hiking, backpacking, and biking I rarely ever seen any. I've seen more in my car driving than I have when I have been out hiking.
