To me, LKY and his wife had the most beautiful love story. LKY was the most devoted husband despite his heavy responsibilities building Singapore. They are the epitome of how a couple should stand together, in health and in sickness, till death do they part. My utmost respect to this giant of a man, Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his dear wife, Mrs Lee.
It is amazing someone whom I have not met can touch me and move me to tears over and over again. I am already in my fifties and I know what being destitute is all about. I guess our generation owes him a great lot.
Erm. Looks like you either have limited or bad experiences with Singapore woman. There are still women with brains, intelligence and upbringing in Singapore, just perhaps not comparable to Mrs Lee. Lets hope everyone have the luck to meet with someone like that.
LKY's preference is not that important. Goh Chok Tong was not LKY first choice either, but he still managed to pull off the role. The support and preference of the party members are important, and it seemed that the PM designate has that support.
