I actually never seen anyone who has explained this C spine AROM testing like you just did Well done , i watch your videos as i am on my final year in osteopathy
Hello Mr Gibbons, my question.... I didn't get the last part of the video... The flexion of the head puts the nuchal ligament in tension... This should block the possibility to flex further the tract C2-C7 and keep free C0-C2 to flex and extending...so this assessment makes sense... But the tension of the nuchal ligament doesn't block the rotation of the vertebras in the tract C0-C7... So why assessing the rotation of C0-C2 with the tract C2-C7 in flexion? Many thanks from Italy
Hi Edoardo and hello from oxford - its difficult to truly assess the AA joint within the whole cervical complex - however, if you flex the cervical slightly this will tension the nuchal ligament, which will reduce the rotation of C2-C7 - thus allowing the C1 to rotate a bit more on C2 because there is no actual SP on C1 so no real attachment for the nuchal ligament compared to the bifid SP's on the other vertebra. Regards JG
I have pain in my back head followed by stiff neck which hpnd 15 days ago and now it has reached my right ear and up that ear too . it feels as if needles are there so painful why is it so? Please help.
What if the during the rotation there is a grinding/clicking sound in one location but full range of motion, or mostly full? On the last test or c1 and c2 looking down. Also get the same but not as loud when not looking down and rotating to the left. Thanks!
Same with me. I hear a crunching sound. The movement to the left is slow and not full. I struggle to look down. Pain at base of skull on both sides I am at a loss. Three months on
