I love shopping Thrift stores when I travel. Nothing like the thrill of the hunt and finding a gem. You found some beautiful items.

You absolutely nailed the thrifting situation here in Phoenix! Goodwill is overpriced and lacks quality items. White Dove is good. I love St. Vincent and on the last Saturday of each month everything is half off! I haven’t tried the Lutheran or Thrift to Thrive but I will! You have given me renewed hope for finding good pieces!! Thanks and much ❤️

Hi! You should definitely check out the Lutheran thrift and all the others right near it on Peoria Ave in Sun City. That was the best area in my opinion. Some of the shops looked junky, but there were some hidden gems. Hoping you find some goodies! Thanks for watching! 🥰

The prices in Phoenix have gone crazy at the Goodwill, on occasion you can find a deal so you just have to search. I’ve lived here most of my life so have seen prices definitely go up and all the small thrift shops are no longer around, unfortunately. Glad though that you had a good time. Thank you for sharing travels with us.

    • @thriftadventure

I wish Goodwill would stop with the crazy price increases. I understand to a certain extent, but when their prices are higher then retail it’s pretty ridiculous. I’d recommend checking out some of the thrifts near the Lutheran thrift store in Sun City. They had good prices and some hidden gems. Plus there were like 5 or 6 all right next to each other.

PNW- Rouge Valley & it's slim pick n's here & prices are high!. There's just not a lot of money in this valley & we're 5 hours away from a large city. Belts at the GW's are ALL $7.79. You really have to go often & dig deep. I could not survive if I only sold one category. I do best with vintage hardgoods. I love your channel Amy! Stay blessed sweetness!

Unfortunately it sounds like many areas the pricing is getting out of control at thrifts. I’m sorry, it sucks… I love vintage hard goods too! We gotta shift and learn to keep finding the goodies.

I had gone to a small town riverside art fair here in Michigan a few years back. I walked right up to an artist’s jewelry booth. Straight to a gorgeous green turquoise ring. I LOVED it - it was just a little too pricy for me at the time. But I’ll never forget what the gentleman said to me “you don’t pick the stone - the stone picks you “ I could kick myself for not buying it - but I’ve learned a lesson that day.
Stones and jewels truly speak to a person- so I understand that you want to keep certain items - and I say KEEP THEM. you can sell them eventually and the stone will tell you when it’s time. Keep the 14 karat gold gem necklace - it is GORGEOUS !!
Someday I’ll find the ring that’s meant for me. Be it green turquoise or spiny oyster. (🩷🩷🩷). Can’t wait for the art fair this year - you never know.
Glad you had a good trip and a fab haul !!
Now ….. GO WEAR THAT NECKLACE !- even if it’s just to the grocery store !!!!🤣🤣🤣

Nothing haunts us like the vintage we don’t buy. It’s true, the stones on that ring were so unique in color and shape. Also, I do think I need to keep that gold necklace, I am mesmerized by the stone. I hope you find the perfect ring this summer. 🌞

I live in the Phoenix metro area! The goodwills sometimes have things priced insanely. Sometimes they miss stuff and price good items low. Deseret Industries always has pretty good stuff! There’s a bins location in Tucson and they only charge $1.69 per pound. It’s not as crazy as some other locations

As far as comment about wealth vs poor . Read an article last week : Jeff Bezos last year made 3.2 million dollars a MINUTE. Yes , a minute. The average person doesn’t make that in a lifetime . Glad I don’t shop on Amazon. Buying local and from small businesses helps , I think . Thanks for your video

Goodwill skims the vintage and nice items off the top, and puts them on their own online store. Where I live they do not put oil paintings out anymore, whatsoever. It is not that it is not getting donated, it doe not get to the store level.

@@thriftadventure It happens to me alot as I tend to leave wordy comments lol. I also think things get flagged for having certain words and immediately taken down. Well I wanted to mention to test for the pools of light, which is rock crystal/quartz if you didn’t already know, you can look for a lack of bubbles- bubbles means it’s glass :) I have also used a diamond tester, the cheap black plastic ones, for diamonds/sapphires but also to tell the difference between natural stone vs glass. Oh, I saw that gorgeous purple glass necklace! It is Czech, Art deco era. Was the chain newer? I have plenty of era appropriate chains/findings I could send you to replace :)

On the purple necklace, it looks like the chain broke and they just reattached the clasp at the broken part. So it’s not even on either side, and it’s only about 14.5” long total.

I clicked so fast. I’m from Arizona (Tucson) and visit Phoenix often. It’s not awful, I’ve made thousands by sourcing during my visits a couple times a year. I find that the savers in Phoenix are better than the goodwills and it’s the opposite here in la. Phoenix has a lot of stores, but you have to know which are the good ones to go to! Lots of hidden Eileen/johnny was/bryn walker/nordstorm designers. I was there during quarantine and found many Jean Paul Gaultier pieces(even in the not so nicer areas)
