Anybody else find it disturbing that a rep from the EPA refers to Biolab as a "corporate partner" and talks on their behalf saying that "Biolab "is not prepared to make a statement"? The EPA is supposed to be a regulatory agency; not a "partner" to a polluting company! Being too congenial with such companies is a problem! Maybe that's why the EPA allowed this to happen more than once! Also, why has nobody devised a method to surround plumes like this and neutralize them? It is worrisome that this gas might go anywhere in Georgia. I'm in Stone Mountain and growing vegetables for me to eat because grocery stores are becoming too expensive. This better not contaminate my food crops and soil! If I find out they absorb this crap and there is any health risk from that I'll be looking into legal remedies, and I'm sure other people will be as well. EPA; do your damn job and stop playing footsie under the table with corporate overlords!

I hear you and wholeheartedly understand. I live within 6 miles of Biolab, and I also have a vegetable garden. I chose not to go in-ground. I thank god that I made the decision to instead go with a raised container garden. The portability allowed me to quickly & safely move my collards, kale, bok choy, chard, carrots, beets, etc. to the indoors because of this Biolab fiasco. Of course the food grown in-ground will be contaminated, no doubt about it. Soil and crops don't stand a chance from the microscopic chemical dust that the plumes emit they have no other place to go than to be absorbed by the soil, especially as rainy Fall season approaches. Keep samples of your harvests, but please do not eat them until you have them and your soil properly tested, and keep legal counsel on speed dial for the inevitable repercussions of this debacle.
We are on our own. Just like East Palestine, OH, Atlanta is being poisoned and it will harm us. The health system is not prepared, nor are we able to afford the care and remidiation that will be necessary to protect the health of people and the environment. It's chlorine and bromine used for pools and spas. If you look it up you will see how extremely dangerous this is for the citizens of Conyers and surrounding areas. But of course they are going to try to cover it up and say these people are in no danger.
