1Huge mistake by Rabbis in some century to count Jews by mother. It's not official God's decision and Illuminates a lot of good people from counting themselves As Jews . Israel is by law of return, gives, even if any of your grandparents on father side right to return ! Which is way more realistic approach. If you good enough to be killed by Nazi, because you have Jewish blood , you should be counted, if you want, as a Jew! 2 Same time fake Jews, born from supposed Jewish mothers, simpatise with Muslims and left and right wing Nazis , at best, their are self hating Jews or just traitors. They do not have the right to call to be called Jews. 3 At the same time, 99% Rabbi around the world and Israel falling to teach about Real Actual Jews history. They teach some talmud and use it to interpret for modern times, but it's limited to a very simplistic, but fancy and worldly approach. As result you have bunch of Jwes who are born in comfortable upbringing and get negative when IDF makes some move, not appropriate for thier delusional ideas. 😮

I am a European of Jewish descent with family in Tel Aviv. My mother is an ex kibbutzim.
The Ukraine war is totally different from Hamas's terrorist attack on Israel.
The first is territorial, one country taking territory from another using conventional military forces. It is a near peer conflict.
The other is not territorial, it is a terrorist attack targeting civilians using asymetric warfare.
Ukraine receives western weapons with the prohibition of using them in Russian territory. When Ukraine attacks on Russian territory, it hits military objectives with little or no civilian casualties. Most of the fighting is happening in Ukraine, the civilian casualties are overwhelmingly Ukrainian. Ukraine tries to move it's civilian population far from a relatively static front lines.
Israels conflit is not territorial (at the tactical level), it tries to strike back at Hamas in a very densely populated territory and it causes huge casualties to the civilian population. Hamas effectively uses the civilian population as a shield. It tunnels under the civilian infrastructure. Hamas wins the information war in this way and boost recruitment. I don't see any good options for Israel except carefully targeted operations over a long period of time to cause attrition to Hamas, not emotionally satisfying for most Israelis, but effective.
The US cannot confront Iran directly because Iran can block the Straits of Hormuz, strangling 40% of global oil exports. This runs the risk of escalation. War is not very popular right now in the US to say the least, especially with an increasingly isolationist Republican party. Biden starting a war will mean the Republican far right wins the next election. Then it is game over for Ukraine, the conflict is frozen, Russia keeps it's gains and is seen to win. China sees that the US has no stomach for war and defending allies and might try to blockade Taiwan. The balance of global power shifts. Not good.
In my opinion, I do not see what is morally wrong sending aid to the Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
I also do not see how two million Palestinian civilians can move from the north to the south of Gaza. The place is already cramped, their previous experience tells them that if they move out of their homes, they will never recover them. And there are elderly, handicapped and sick people in IC units that cannot move.
Then there is the optics of the West Bank. Israelis living in colonies in the West Bank have attacked Palestinian civilians going to a funeral. The IDF did not budge. This kind of attack has been happening on a regular basis. Not a good look.
Also, in my opinion, mossad and tsahal (IDF) have been asleep at the wheel, Netanyahu has been in power too long (and marked by corruption) and the religious parties he is in a coalition with are completely taken over by ideology and not pragmatic people. A recipe for disaster.

Thank you for these insightful interviews; they offer perspectives on the conflict that I haven't found elsewhere. I highly recommend the conversations with Haviv Retting Gur, and Doron Keidar. As an American-Israeli with family residing in Israel. I appreciate the diverse insights shared. I thought I knew a fair amount about the subject, but your guests' articulate and informative discussions have expanded my understanding. I hope many people get the chance to watch and learn from these interviews.
Growing up on a kibbutz in the '80s, my father had an Uzi in the kitchen and an M4 in his bedroom. He is in his 70's now and intends to apply for his gun license in Israel.

I get the point about the difference in reaction between reaction to Ukraine and Israel, but I think you all were a little unfair to Ukraine. They have constantly had to deal with the west stressing that they should not escalate the conflict, should not strike Crimea, should not strike on Russian soil, can't have certain weapons because it might be a red line with the Kremlin, etc etc. Not passing judgement on the right or wrong of either situation, just an observation.

It's a little different. With Ukraine, the west is concerned about how the west will look with Ukraine's use. Have we seen news articles blasting Ukraine for using cluster munitions because they are against the Geneva convention? Event though neither are signatories and Russia has already used them? THAT is the sort of thing Israel faces. Just look - they identify a Hamas location in a residential area, warn the public, attack the building and the report is of *civilian* damage with little to mention of Hamas except maybe in passing. While Hamas terrorists who *slaughtered* civilians were described as "militants"...
It's sickening , blatant, and omnipresent.

I think the comparison between Israel and Ukraine are a bit unfair. Some of it may be antisemitism, but I think it is largely because the Russian conflict is a traditional force on force military action, with Russia as the dominant aggressive force.
Israel is not the aggressor, but they are by far the superior force. Also, they are not fighting a traditional enemy which leads to a large disruption of the civilian population.
That said, I wish the IDF well. They cannot tolerate Gaza in its current form.

They were farmers. Hamas is sick.

Each individual soldier, whether overwatch or combat (and even trainees) operated above and beyond.
Sig-int units were reporting the suspicious activity for months.
There's even an officer that found the battle plans (not date, but procedures and instructions) months before.
Her unit officer came to base right away to go with her to the chief of M.I., and he disregarded it.
All the screw-ups were at the general staff level and so on.
FYI, I'm an IDF reservist that was called up Oct 7 in the evening.
And there's a lot of things that has come out in Israel that doesn't make it to the USA or other foreign countries.

This is an excellent discussion. The IDF reflects Israeli society which has become very risk averse and is obsessed with the Air Force. Hamas used a classic combined arms approach to wreak havoc. You can’t brag how good we are and not have something to show for it. Did the idf mine the border with Gaza? No. Did the idf purposely underman the border? Yes. Did the idf take an incompetent amount of time to respond? Yes. Was the idf warned about this disaster? Yes. You cannot blame the standing army’s conscripts who do what they’re told. This is the fault of the general staff and the Netanyahu government. We all know this in Israël. But like Yakov said, first we must win the war and then deal with the reckoning later

Israel - after this brutal attack on this community’s residents and music festival attendees by Hamas - is forced to respond and it is logical it must react. However, and I believe this is why there is such sympathy for residents of Gaza is that these Palestinians are trapped in this area and an area fully dominated by Israel but fully manipulated by Hamas terrorists. This Gaza’s population is stuck “between a rock and a hard place” with almost no way out and my heart goes out to them as a stateless and trapped population. To world peoples watching this Israel has military power, backing of the U. S. but all the population of Gaza has is sadly…Hamas.

It is not true that the whole world supports Ukraine unequivocally and that nobody questions what Ukraine does and that nobody restrains how we fight back. Ukraine is getting spoon-fed arms supply, the capabilities that we needed at the beginning of the full scale invasion that could help us defeat russia faster and avoid casualties of our civilians and military, are still not on the horizon. Whatever we get comes with a restriction not to be used on the sovereign russian territory.
But it is stunning that people who supported Ukraine blame Israel for defending themselves. Moral gymnastics on the display are jaw-dropping.

Abd al-Malik (died 692 Muhammad died 632 AD) put out a coin with HIS LIKENESS, forbidden in Islam, so the Qur'an and Islam couldn't have been the Califate's religion. The genius of Malik is that he created a Caliphate government wrapped into a religion not based on a living person. Islam. So it outlived the empire. Islam in made to create an EMPIRE SINGULAR (GOD'S), DESTROY THE ENEMY the Christians and the scape goat Jews.
Lucky Islam is built on a pile of sand because NOTING EXIST to document Muhammad UNTIL AFTER Abd al-Malik's death. Mecca the chosen home of Muhammad is chosen by a committee. In a desert because couldn't give favor to any Caliphate of the 8th century. No records of Mecca existence in the life time of Muhammad.
Want to kill Islam need to convince Muslims of the FRAUD played upon them. Already Muslims are rejection Islam when they accept the fraud happened. Just too few of them because the truth has been prevented from reaching the masses.

Respect to both you men. I keep a close eye on the banning issues concerning firearms in civilian ownership regardless of if a particular state requires registration of the owner or the firearm. There seems to be a common denominator where these tendencies are being radically pursued in the western cultures and that in my opinion is the United Kingdom. I firmly believe that governments with close links to England are being influenced by powers in the UK to follow their lead in disarming the public. Look at trends in the common wealth countries , Aussie , New Zealand , Canada. It is extremely concerning. Now concerning Israel , why with its history has it adopted a policy where hardly any of the inhabiting citizens are allowed to keep and bare arms ? I hope the UK was not an influencer to adopt this policy and I hope Israel radically and speedily changes that policy with immediate effect. A great number of Israeli citizens would not have perished on Oct 7 , and a great number of those invaders would have been neutralized by civilians. Greetings from South Africa.

I have read back in the war against egypt they preemptively striked them when they were building up troops in Egypt with airstrikes and then sent in centurion tanks that they upgraded with the 105mm gun, cant remeber what they called the tank. Sho cal or something. The first war with egypt

      Impartial meaning pro Hamas?
It’s hard for so many to admit…
We are dealing with one group that their sole purpose is to destroy the other (Hamas and Palestinian support) and then one side that wants to exist in peace…(but has learned the hard way- that by erring on the side of being less aggressive has always come back to bite them)
But there has to be some other hidden agenda to this, right?
      Wrong.

Yaakov, you may be squeamish about assigning the label of anti-Semitism to this war but I'll oblige. How can we otherwise explain the brain-deadness of seemingly moral people when it comes to Israel? It's as if historical facts disappear in the vapor of an irrational disdain for the Jews.

The fact remains that you killed 10000, and they have killed 1400. In fact, 1400 is the number of Palestinians killed yearly in the west bank. You are occupying the west bank and gaza, and that is not me saying that UN and UNSC and all human rights groups. The attack on oct 7 was not a
    country vs. country but an
    Occupied country vs. a country
And as long as you sugar coat, your actions, your security will never be achieved. President Harry truman said it best jews want all the land and palestinians want all of the land.

It’s easy to support Ukraine because it’s obvious that Russia is the bad guy - it’s very clearcut. But with Israel you get decades of some very shady shit, a government bet on dictatorship who is also goading Hamas at every turn. So while what Hamas did is deplorable and inexcusable, and I do stand with Israel on the need to eliminate Hamas, it’s impossible for people to forget that Israel has gone out of its way since 2005 to make Gaza a hellhole (and succeeded). It did everything in its power to make Hamas stronger and nothing to undermine it. Israel should have been far more proactive in Gaza from a political stand point as soon as Hamas was elected (and it was not a landslide victory by the way, Hamas just killed the opposition and it became a dictatorship) but instead they convinced themselves that they could contain a terrorist organisation on its border and, in what can only be seen as hubris of mammoth proportions, convinced itself it was safe to settle its people on the border! The simple truth is Hamas would not be what it is today without Israel - to ignore its part in its existence is to repeat the errors of the past. Which looks likely. They will no doubt destroy Hamas but without tackling the reason it flourished in the first place Hamas 2.0 will rise in its place.
The solution is as simple as it is impossible. Arab states recognise Israel and Palestine gains independence. And no amount of arguing or bloodshed will change that this is the solution. But no one wants accept reason and so we have what we have today in perpetuity.
Israel is the victim of Hamas, but unlike Ukraine, it’s marked out the path that led to Oct 7.

Israel can't even civilly resolve its Judiciary issues without major domestic turbulence. Hamas’s attack has improved Israel's sense of political perspective.
The history of the Holy Land since before the Roman conquest can answer many issues, but how many Americans have even a remote sense of that history and fractiouness embodied in that history.
When was right or wrong, good or evil ever a factor for humans bent on conquest.

Israel removed every Jew from Gaza in 2005 and left all buildings for Palestinians. Left some small industrial sites and left infrastructure. Nearly immediately Hamas was elected and rockets started flying. So, israel restricted the inflow of goods because they need to be inspected. Then when they figured out that the amount of concrete and rebar flowing wasn’t being used to repair and build buildings but tunnels, then that was restricted. Then the rocket tech increased and the sea blockade was imposed.
There’s no justification for rocket attacks.
Matter of fact, they tried to reward Palestinians for good behavior. No rocket attacks/terror attacks and aid would increase substantially. Sadly, instead Hamas has focused on war. This is the 5th war since Gaza was freed from Jewish settlements and was given self rule.
