No matter what you guys do, please don't make shotguns the di-facto best weapon for most circumstances. So many survival games with guns do this already, and while it's well and good for stuff like project zomboid and whatever, players should be able to take and make much better weaponry later on, the earlier the better really. Do I think shotguns should be a bad weapon though? No absolutely not. I think they should at least be relevant for the start of the game to help with terrible aiming but replaced with the more fun and weird alien/crafted weapons fairly quickly. It's a personal opinion at the end of the day but I really do think making mid to late game weapons scientists cobble together generally superior will make AF a better and more unique experience than similar titles.
@@wouju9600 I feel the other way, in most games (exept..like tarkov or payday) the damage is divided by pellets, so it's super powerful when at close range and all pellets hit, and useless if only a couple do hit, which is stupid: IRL you want to use dispersion since only one pellet is enough to kill.

agreed, shotguns in game have a tendency to become OP or not worth your time
one or two should be fine (especially that laser shotgun, looks cool)

That's certainly an option! It just takes some practice, patience, and a little technology to use military grade weaponry.
I mean you did see in the footage a Glock so that could work you can also get weapons from dead security guards
