    I ripped the pads off. Ended up scraping off the traces and micro soldering with a microscope. Ended up getting it done but it was stressful.

    That is good i am using the sensors with ESPHOME and they work quite good. Will be good to get read of my hub for one of this to not ue multiple devices.

    I purchased a couple of these but had to put ESPHome on them (no power monitoring). I'm definitely going to reflash them with Tasmota now! Thanks Travis. Great video as always.

    @16:50 you mention getting unit connected to mains... (I'm assuming you forgot to mention never connect to mains while the TX/RX pins are connected to laptop, aka first disconnect those)

    Very nice video, but I don't have many products and would like to use just Tasmota with a local MQTT Raspberry Pi and no HA but can't find any videos because it is all HA and would love to see some videos without HA

      The Bluetooth deal opens up some options big time. Glad to see pads broken out, no glue, no esp32 efuses burnt. Like they meant for this community to buy it. Someone gets the "more sales" theory at iTead.

    Hi, How can I set the switchmode according to the original software? Specifically "Working mode, switch, External Trigger mode, for Channel 1, Following mode"

    i would assume this is a wifi version, is there any point of flashing these devices with tamsota if they were zigbee, since you can use ha and z2mqtt? one more question how this device will work in case of a complete network failure, like shelly even if your wifi is down when you flip the switch the light will turn on , and how reliable are they ? I'm about to install a bunch of them and confused between shelly and sonoff

      You don't flash things that are zigbee usually, there are sometimes OTA updates for them but they are local by nature.
      Really kind of a toss up between the two, Shelly does have the pin headers usually for open source firmware

    Got mine flashed using your instructions and template. But for some reason all the power stats for both channels stay at 0. I've got 700W IR Panel connected to channel 1. No hardware switches connected.

    Bracket looks like it would mount on DIN rail. Not common in U.S. residential applications.

      Yeah. That was my only thought as I wouldn't mount it on the wall here. Only DIN rail stuff I did was custom telemetry stuff offshore.

      You could probably do it with Blerry scripting on Tasmota or via Esphome Bluetooth proxy

      I do not think that is supported in Tasmota but I do know this power monitoring chip is supported by ESPHome as well now.

    Does Sonoff Dual R3 have an alternative Tx & Rx connection? I have 1 unit with no pads on the plate so I cant use it with Tasmota.
    Any advice would help

      Yes. The headers on the chip itself.

      Yes, if the sensor is supported but that could also be done via Berry script too.

      The video was actually on a basic that I was doing but fully adaptable to the dual R2. Before I was doing the video thing I did an R2 with a ton of buttons and even used one of the LED traces as an input.

      As you can see I made a little modification to it. That black shiny grain top just wasn't going to work well with a camera pointed at. Inadvertently came to the conclusion I'll never have a smooth work bench/desk again. There's no going back.

      Sonoff firmware : E32-2SW-P0 version 1.4.0.
      Updates are available. But I did not update it.
      The Dual R3 board version is 2.0

    Hello, i watch and enjoy your channel. First comment :). I followed this instruction and have 3x Sonoff Dual R3 running at my house and a number of other sonoff devices running tasmota. I found only recently the Sonoff Dual R3 has become very laggy, (All other sonoff devices are going well). I have tried factory resetting, updating to the latest firmware, downgrading to an older firmware but nothing seems to fix it. The symptoms are when a light switch is turned on, 3-5 seconds later the light turns on, Very unresponsive webpage. (Not responding after a few refresh then it might come back). If you have any tips of suggestion it would be much appreciated, It almost feels like the hardware is damaged somehow? thanks Grayson

      @@digiblurDIY just an update. I managed to solve this. I ended up replacing to a new Sonoff dual R3 to no success, i then realized the problem must of been somewhere else, Then i looked into my network, Turned out to be only a problem when on that wifi VLAN. So internal network issue, Not tasmota, Thanks

      Ahhh...yeah if you block stuff like DNS, NTP, etc they get laggy trying to connect to the time server and/or DNS. Point them to a local service and they will be happy.

    Hi, I followed the tutorial and managed to make it work without the power monitoring. I used the Tasmota Template in the description. I have the same rev board as you do. Any idea ?

      You do need to make sure you flash the latest development version to get the power monitoring like I stated. This bin link works, I just updated mine to it a bit ago. ota.tasmota.com/tasmota32/tasmota32-bluetooth.bin

    @digiblurDIY did the ble sensors appear in tasmota integration in Home assistant ? To me the only way was to put so19 1 and then they appear in mqtt integration.

      That's the only thing I saw as well as I guess they aren't supported in the integration yet.

    Tried flashing 4 off R3's, soldering wires onto PCB. One worked. Other 3 'no go" Not sure why. Has anyone had this experience...

      I haven't heard of this myself. Faulty USB TTL adapter? The ESP32 does take a little more power.

    i just use the pin part of the dupon cable to solder to the pads makes it much easier

    It's painful to see such a beautiful table being used without protection with soldering.

      Table top cost a little less than $30 and is intended exactly for this. It was a black kind of faux grain wood, super shiny. Horrible for video cameras with the massive glare. I tried a couple mats but they have glares as well and found these boards and modified my table, I fell in love with the look as well but then one big surprise hit me by accident. I'll never use a smooth work bench/table area again. It's amazing to use for projects and things just grip, don't slide or roll off. Don't worry, I bought extra boards too for replacement needs since they were so cheap at the hardware store.

      It's no longer 1985 McFly. UL isn't what it used to be and even insurance companies can care less about it. Almost as bad as some of these FCC certs you see on products.
