Ok, you comparing yourself to Walt Disney because he had to give up almost everything to succeed, I get that, but Walt Disney’s stuff was entertaining, hell even innovative. In my opinion, your movie just made no sense. The premise is explained more than 3 times, the writing just makes no sense, almost all of the jokes don’t land, and the animation is just obviously those 3D animation packs that can automatically apply to rigs. While I get animation is very hard (I do it myself), you can’t be putting yourself upon a pedestal like that, especially when your “Magnum Opus” isn’t good.

I have been working in blender for over 10 years, what he said about the Blender update is completely false. It takes maybe 5 minutes to get used to the new layout, and there’s an option in user preferences to keep the old hotkeys that appears when you boot it up.
also what he said about the hair is kind of true, but there are plenty of ways around the hair rendering taking forever (using child hairs, the dedicated hair shader, or redesigning the model to not need as many hairs.) I’m also guessing he had the render settings way way higher than needed which is why he needed a render farm, and it would also explain all the compression issues in some parts of the movie (since he rendered it all as PNGs and combined them wrong).
Either he was lying or he truly didn't know that.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Our Drawings. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head.

Ok ya. This whole movie is trash. I don’t want to sugar coat it like everyone else is. The animation is bad. The sound effects are horrible. Some of the voice acting is stiff and mono tone. The way the story plays out is super weird. There’s like 3 introductions to Paige for some reason? The dialogue is super weird. And the story is overall really bad. I don’t even know who all the characters are. So ya it’s horrible.
Please learn how to make a good story and good characters.

i am an avid blender user. i went from 2.7 to 2.8, and it took about 2 weeks for me to learn the new interface. if someone much younger than you learned an interface in less time than you and DIDN'T have to restart projects because that's not how blender works, you need to step thjings up.

maybe if he hadn't tried crapping on other projects and claiming it was as good as Disney and Dreamworks, above everything else and needs to be picked up and released in theatres, people would have been way nicer and given positive criticism
it’s sucks because i feel like it has a lot of potential like the actual premise of the movie sounds really cool but if they had just stuck to one consistent story and better animation it would have been eons better

the lore was kinda trash, the background felt empty, the only quality model design was on a couple characters and they reused the same 6 shots around 10 times for the end chase scene. they shouldve seen it coming given how much he was expecting himself to land in the hall of fame

In all honesty this was fresh cat litter out of the oven, the writing was weird and just bad, and the animation was just really bad. Despite this I still think this man can improve massively if he focuses on his dream. Keep working on your dreams bro.

Even if you intent of having the story be all over the place, you can at least try to make them coherent with the plot. If not, then you're better of with making it a series than a movie.

People in the comments are saying how this isnt as bad as people are saying, but it absolutely does. The setting changes like 50 times without any reason or transition, the characters actually suck and feel like they were made with like two polygons, the main character gets introduced like 17 different times for some reason, and you completely lied about the crap you said about how blender worked.

I actually loved our drawings the writing isn't very good the voice acting is questionable and it's pretty goofy and it has a bunch of long running inside jokes like wrist waters but that's what I love about it it's a flawed goofy movie that I can tell was made from the heart and not for money i actually love the concept of the movie i just wish it was written better. It may not be very good but I had a lot of fun watching it and it kinda inspired me in a way

tbh the whole idea is fun and all, and once you improve the story, dialog, and maybe character design/development , along with the animation and backgrounds, I'm sure it would be pretty cool. And maybe lay off with the self inserts. Just my thoughts though, keep going at it, man.

Look man I admire the effort it takes to make a feature length film with such a small team and little to no budget. I myself am a film student currently and I’m hoping to become an animator myself. However I know my own faults and I know that I can’t do everything myself. Y’all have to understand the importance of getting feedback AS YOU GO ALONG so you can improve not just go ahead and box it and ship it expecting to get it right on the first try. Screen writing and animation take a lot of practice and when more then a few people are saying that they can’t understand your concept or vision it’s not because we are stupid or have “a low IQ” to figure it out it’s because the writer clearly didn’t get any feedback during the process or nobody was willing to make suggestions and changes. The big thing about animation is the importance of teamwork and LIKING who you work with. TAKING Criticism and making CHANGES not just making excuses for your choices. Don’t insult your audience by saying the just don’t understand MAKE US UNDERSTAND help us see your vision and if you enjoy movies like Disney and Dreamworks then try looking to them for inspiration for visuals and story telling there is a reason why they are successful. If you do all this I know you’ll get there cause you have a lot of passion to put 6 years into a project. Please note these criticisms are from someone who wants to do what you did (to make an animated film) and as artists we should encourage each other to do better and recognize where we fall short and help each other improve. Doubt this will even get read but I hope this is helpful please know this isn’t to be mean at all just my honest thoughts.
