Father and Son Receive Heart Transplants 30 Years Apart

When Christian Villalobos was a young boy, his father received a heart transplant at Loyola Medicine. 20 years later, when he experienced irregular heartbeats while exercising, Christian immediately turned to Loyola. The Loyola cardiology team implanted a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) that kept his heart pumping for years until it was necessary to perform a transplant.
