Six Tractor, Two-mile Pumping!

  • Опубликовано: 9 мар 2012
  • Whew! Just back from a monster ramble over georgeous countryside in lousy weather to see Richard Lewis team with their biggest ever pumping operation. Six tractors - you'll see them all - five Deeres and a New Holland. Follow that pipe - along the road, yes, through a gate, fine, but through a barb wire fence? Yes, somehow! Swamps, yuk, gorse, brambles - but we get there in the end - there's the 6530 with the "Slurry Kat" dribble bar. Stay tuned - the sun comes out later . . . . . .

    i cant believe that you guys ran this massive setup with all those tractors for just one slurry spreader that is so cool i love it unlike anything i have seen in my area of america.

  • @magpie307
    @magpie307 12 лет назад

    That's just crazy, never heard of any one pushing slurry that far. wouldn't it have been easier to take it with a fer tankers ? Must have taken for ever to set up the piping and pumps. A burst pipe would be the last thing they want on the road side lol .Great footage if i might add Alan : )

    Had to be a hell of a job to put out the pipes..!?
    Was it much height difference, since they used 5 tractors to pump it?

    Well, some it comes down as you work your way down through the fields. I returned yesterday when the sun emerged, and one tractor was just off home, as the furthest field had been finished and they now nearer the farm.

    Sorry if you took it wrong, I was trying to emphasize that to use a word like crazy is being offensive - would you like to be called crazy? It was a sound commercial decision, I assume, and I do tend to jump to the defence of those who usually cannot defend thenselves. I also assume that the risk of burst pipes would be part of the decision - there was spare piping, anyway. Please continue to enjoy but spare a thought for the persons concerned who are reading what you say.

    Alan...There was no need to fly off the handle like that... I meant nothing wrong when i commented to your video and quite enjoyed watching but you obviously red it the wrong way, Oh and by the way I do know something about slurry pumping as i have been working the pumps myself and burst pipes are more common that you think. Did enjoy all your video's but think commenting will be restricted from now on. All the best Alan.

    Mind your language, son. "Crazy" is a bit strong for something you know nothing about! You (and I) have no idea of the reasons for deciding on this way of coping with manuring very distant fields and emptying the very full slurry lagoon. For one thing, the roads are very narrow and quite busy Tankers woujld be a nightmare - that's just for starters . . . . . . Thanks for the footnote!

      it was very interesting. i as you know once worked in the pumping industry and am always amazed at what can be moved over what distance up or down what elevation at what flow rate thru what size of pipe and what type and how many pumps to use! I love these kind of videos. please make it so you have got more in the pipeline :} Thanks Alan....

    @reedy2100 10 лет назад +2

    Surely this must cost far to much to justify not putting shit on that field at all (since tankers are a no)
    Where I'm from it's £65hr pump & trailing shoe + £35hr extra pump
    That's £205hr including the probably 2 hours set up and dismantling time....
    Personally I'd of just let the field go without

    • @balmesh
      @balmesh  10 лет назад

      It's all been covered, months ago, if you read below. Farmers round here do not waste their money!

    • @reedy2100
      @reedy2100 10 лет назад

      balmesh i read every single comment below before commenting. and cost was never brought into discussion all that was brought up was "easier with tankers" which if you read my comment i said "since tankers are a no"
      no farmer could ever warrent £200+hr on spreading shit im sorry they just cant it would be cheaper to just put heavy fert on that field and the shit somewhere closer to home.
      but thanks for responding to my comments in a lovely polite manner with no aggression what so ever ;)
