  • Cosine spacing is used for airfoil coordinate files to cluster more data points towards the leading and trailing edges of the airfoil, where there are higher curvatures or more detail that needs to be resolved. By using this spacing, less data points can be used to more accurately describe the airfoil's shape when used in other simulations such as panel methods or CFD codes, saving valuable computation time.
