Thank you for posting this instructional video, Keith! We just installed a new Red Lion pump, wire and Hose Solutions "pipe". We will run our pump on a generator until we have a pumphouse built.
extremely helpful. thank you. I bought a home last year with a shallow well in the back yard. don't know anything about wells so I'm forced to study up on line.
answer him on the 2 hot wires and why they don't need a neutral. the cycles are out of phase with the other and this allows them to use each other as a neutral
At 3:28 you tested the windings . When the needle of the meter moved ,was that a good result or not ? Or should you expect that to happen ? Very interested
OK, so we are talking an USA format still two phases being 220V opposed to 110V having neutral. Still it has a run capacitor/winding that is connected between the phase and neutral. The function of the start winding and cap is create a 90 degree shift to enable motor to start or it will growl (stalled). Is there a flow switch? Joe M. It has a few possibilities - check the static resistance of of the run winding / stator winding and the capacitor value on specification sheet. Try taking the pump assembly off motor - check in float of pump for collapsed or jammed stages. Power up motor independently to determine if bearing collapsed in motor as it will growl and not rotate. This will help determine root off problem depending on outcome(s). Using a analogue meter to check insulation breakdown (phase to pump body) is done by amateurs!! Man use the proper mega to measure or a digital meter to give a rough idea to determine if mega it is required!!! Yes, peanut the earth help to save lives and trigger circuit breakers upon faults. You know; water ingress, poor connection, short circuit and alike. To my knowledge the motor does not support the thrust of the multi stage pump being independent units!
I have a three wire single phase flotec, the capacitor in the control box is blown with its insides hanging out. I got a new box... I'm worried if I just install it something might be wrong with the pump drawing to much current through it. I checked the pump three wires to ground continuity, there was no short, I'm checking yellow to red and yellow to black but I do not know what resistances these should read. One is about 250k ohms, one is 9.2 ohms. Would you imagine I'll blow my new capacitor if I fire this up? flotec 230v 4" submersible three wire with above ground control box. pump is still 80 feet down. I would like to not pull it if possible.
Ground wire is useful... you really do not want to have the motor leak 110/220 volts to the 'water' or a metal pipe. I had that happen to me where when the light was turned off and the wall was live... wrong polarity on the switch!
Having trouble with my pump it has the same control on that you have on the wall. Replaced it and the pressure switch but the pump is still not pumping fast enough. Any idea what's wrong?
my submersible pump's starter doesn't stop when i press red button on starter what might be the problem. Help me before spending lots of money with the repairing persons.

thank you sir! very helpful! technicians can rely on this one!
i have a problem with my Pump it starts and cut off after a minute, what could be the problem
How can I increase the speed of my submersible pump?

My pump impeller is hooked how can I repeated it
Great video! Helps a bunch!
my water is spitting out air in line i turned on all water though out house did not work what could be wrong , i have a submersible pump.
How to tel if your well pump was hit by lightning. Test.?
I have a problem with my pump it's tripping when we start it with ageberator

Sounds like u need a 3/4 horse pump instead of a 1/2 horse pump
Hole in pipe?
liquid end is wore out ?

How many watts I'm using in the pump 220
Nice
any one ever hear of a poppet valve
