So cute when dad crawled down to show puppy.. When I go to laundry room, I have a tote my baby climbs into. I spoiled her. When she sees it, she automatically starts jumping up.😃❤

Awe he's a cute baby with him liltle short self, I guess for him coming down the stairs was like jumping off a tall building for us, he saw the boy demonstrate and sitt a couple of stairs lower he's smart and loves the pup

The cute pup is super smart. As soon as he got down one stair, he immediately repositioned his body sideway to ensure balance and safety.
That is the only positive I can take from this video. except the dog is super cute. As you say I was impressed by him using the side walls to assist. how would the "owner" like being pushed towards an icy cliff edge and asked to go over the top. I would never do that to a shih Tzu. Even if the stairs were carpeted.

Zuko was like that! When he was a pup, he loved going up the stairs, but don't know how to go down. Now, he is a master! I even have a video of him struggling to go down the stairs. 😂
Awww...My heart is melting at the CUTENESS...I'm instantly reminded of Dolly, our sweet & BELOVED Shih Tzu (TWENTY years ago) sitting at the top of our steps & wagging her little tail & whimpering because she was leery of all the steps, in her first week or so with us...HaHaHa

Teaching a puppy to do stairs on uncarpeted WOOD stairs. Good thinking. :P Add this is a Ship Tzu. His hair will grow quickly around his paws. Then he'll loose traction and slide and then tumble down the stairs. Fracturing (f lucky) light bones or worse break bones.
Tumbles will happen on stairs. Even carpeted stairs...just a lot less likely.
Even people will take a tumble one day in socked feet. Running a little too fast down the stairs or up.
Uncarpeted stairs looks good and is easier to keep clean but dangerous.
I had a Shih Tzu. Lived to almost 18. I speak from experience. Has tumbled down stairs maybe 6x in it's lifetime.

I have the same problem w/ one of my shih tzus...will get up but, my Marko is afraid can down. Meanwhile, his brother Polo runs up then down the stairs the stairs!
My dog knows how to go up the stairs but not down the stairs

I don’t see the point of asking a short-legged dog to climb down the stairs. That’s like asking us humans to go down steps which are twice the length of our legs.

The puppy is cute but uncarpetes stairs are dangerous for the little fluffballs ....theres not much traction and they can get hurt. My friend's shih tzu fractured her jaw falling down similar stairs!!!
