- Today Louis met a lot of dogs on his walk in the park. He is very confident and brave and he loved seeing all the four-legged friends.

I melted when he was playing with the Schnauzer. My husband and I had mini Schnauzers for 20 years and then we got a Shih Tzu. They are so different and we love them all.

I noticed he liked the big dogs better than the little ones. I have 2 Shih-tzus and they think they are bigger than the big dogs lol. Louis has a wonderful dog park. Thanks for sharing him with us

You're smart to socialize Louis with other dogs at a young age. We didn't do that with our Shih Tzu and she is very timid around them. And kudos for using a harness instead of just a leash. Toy dogs are susceptible to collapsing trachea if their neck is pulled on. Laurie

awww!! i love how little louis can walk without his leash and come to you when called at only 13 weeks! hahah my 3 yr old shih tzu i feel anxious to let her walk by herself even in a large park as I feel she may run the other direction away from me when I call her back LOL
I love your little baby doll there!!! So cute!!! Some friendly advise from an avid Shih Tzu owner. Replace the collar with a harness. It keeps them from coughing and hurting their fragile throats when they pull and lung on the leash. :-) You will love it too!!!

Une super vidéo ! Que d'émotions pour Louis (et pour vous aussi sûrement !) de rencontrer tous ces chiens si différents ! Rien de tel pour le sociabiliser et le fait de ne pas avoir de laisse également. Il est trop mignon Louis, il me rappelle vraiment Ipso au même âge et ça me parait déjà loin ! Louis is so daRn ADORABLE...I've never *EVER* met a Shih Tzu that I couldn't LOVE the absolute *Holy Badoozles* out of... : ) Our little (almost solid black Shih Tzu) Dolly, was funny, sweet, STUBBORN & a little "busybody"...She used to jump up on a chair, then it was just a short hop to the top of the kitchen table where she'd sit (& even nap) with our two cats to watch the birds & squirrels from the big picture window right next to the table...Needless to say, it was always funny to see people's reaction to seeing a DOG on the KITCHEN TABLE with two LARGE CATS that just barely tolerated" her for being SO rambunctious...HaHaHa...Well now, (2018) Louis must be a little "Big Boy," & I hope you & he are blissfully happy... : )

stoopot70 puppies usually have a habit of biting, but they will stop doing it as they mature

susan reid Hi, he is asking to go out for potty and he sleeps through the night and never cries , but he still will pee upstairs if we don't watch him lol.

Hi to all Shih Tzu owners! I have a question and I would love to get a feedback soon. We are getting a puppy next week and we chose a boy. But I just heard from a neighbor that boys are hard to train and they pee a lot in the house than girls. Is it true?? Thank you!
Rudel Natividad Hi, I am Louis' owner and I don't believe that boys are harder to potty train than girls, it is all down to individual puppy. I have had puppies before and they are all a challenge and potty training requires a lot of time and patients.You just have to expect accidents, there is no way around it.One advise is don't use pee pads if possible, that prolongs the training and tells your puppy that it is ok to pee in the house as long as is on something white and soft, so he might start peeing on any piece of clothing or towels or door mats. Just start straight away with training him to go outside.

Kat Cleo ... I have a 2 yr old male shih try that we have had since he was 8 weeks old. He was a piece of cake to train. I believe it all depends on you... the time, care and attention you show him at a young age. My shih tzu is very obedient and happy. My only mistake was not socializing him at a young age. Because of that, he is extremely territorial and not so fond of people.
Cute but I wouldn't let by dog go off leash like that.
I really hate it when people walk up to other people with a dog just because they see them with their dog. It doesn't mean that the two dogs want to interact with each other don't be such an air head. What if one of the dogs get aggravated and attack the other dog. Now two strangers become enemies in court....

Your dog is very cute, but it's irresponsible, STUPID to let your defenseless puppy interact with larger, older dogs especially when you don't know the dogs or their owners. A large dog can KILL a small dog in seconds ...so fast that there's nothing anyone present can do to stop it. I've seen the proof first hand as my dog had multiple health problems, allergies, etc that took me often to the vet and er vet. There was ALWAYS, every single time, at least one small dog or puppy in shock and close to death due to the owner's insistence on "socializing" the poor dog. The er vet basically confirmed my suspicions re this relatively new practice of dog parks with dogs off leash as being responsible for a sharp increase of small dogs dying as a result.
